LIVE: Donald Trump’s Insanely Reckless July 4 Celebration at Mt. Rushmore

His speech at this monumentally stupid and reckless event promises to be a nativist hate spew of unparalleled insanity, so I’m putting up a rare live feed even though it’s become a real chore to listen to this horrible human being.

A singer in a smokey room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on, and on, and on

Jackson Browne sued the McCain campaign and won.

BTW, the best thing about it is that the claim was that Antifa* was coming to Gettysburg to ‘kill and loot in the white suburbs’.

I wondered about that, “white suburbs” of Gettysburg, a rural town of maybe 8000 people, surrounded at a distance of 8 miles (one day’s travel by wagon) by much smaller towns. So, these ‘suburbs’ - Antifa’s gonna go to Arendtsville? Cashtown? Table Rock? Mummasburg? Fairplay? McKnightstown? Orrtanna?

*I was thinking of adding “Antifa” to the drinking game (right now, the magic words are Soros, Alinsky, and Benghazi), but I’m afraid for people’s livers.

I really hope when Trump is in prison/hell/hiding in the Russian embassy we get rid of the stupid ass space force and roll that shit back into the Air Force.

If we were going to make any changes to the Air Force, it should have been rolling tactical and air support assets back into the Army, and leaving the Air Force as a Strategic and Home Defense force.

Got my fingers crossed that my earlier LGF glitches are somehow resolved, so far so good this evening….and god that crowd gathered in SD makes me depressed. The music selection is weird too.

Stay safe this weekend Lizards, it’s going to be a shitshow here, people are lighting fireworks all around us right now. Cleo isn’t bothered by the noise, only the flashing lights if she can see them out the windows. So that’s good. I was doing yard work today in the heat, so I’m kicked back with a big cup of ice water and a heating pad for my back. And some Aleve, lol.

One thing I have noticed, that has been encouraging, is that we have reduced the singing in our services. I still wish they would require masks, and it makes me nervous when I serve (which is almost always because I’m one of the few who will), but at least they seem to be listening to the science a little bit?

The Texas Supreme Court announced today it was cancelling the July bar exam, which would have been in 3.5 weeks.

texastribune.org

Looking back to my Texas bar exam in 198X, I would have completely lost my shit if I had gotten all the way to July 3 and not known whether the bar was going to take place. By that point, I would have gone through one week of the multistate prep and five of six weeks of BarBri. Not knowing would have been insane.

That said, Arizona has decided to have the in-person bar exam at the end of the month. I have no idea where it’s held at. When I took the bar, it was in an exhibition hall at the Astrohall (no longer existing) where several hundred of us were spread out among hundreds of tables for three days of hell. Today, it’s three days of every chance in the world of getting coronavirus.

On a different note, I created a t-shirt and it will be here in a couple of weeks.

I’m not jealous of much in this world, but I am jealous of people who got to see the original cast on Broadway. I seriously considered going to NYC, priced it out a couple of times but I couldn’t afford it.

I was actually headed to Yonkers for three grueling weeks of work, but went in a few days early (and it was my birthday) and decided it didn’t matter what it cost, we were going to see it. ($450 for rear balcony, but worth every penny—and I made good money on the job in Yonkers so it all worked out.)

That’s what it cost at the beginning of the SF run. I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for a single performance. (My Ring cycle tickets cost $900, but that was four performances — and not rear balcony.)

Several months into the run I paid about $160 for a center orchestra seat.

At least NY theaters are relatively small, so even rear balcony didn’t seem far away. After recovering from initial sticker shock, I just told myself I was worth it! (and that spending 3 weeks in a bus garage in Yonkers wouldn’t be quite as painful with that happy memory leading up to it.)

Weisman made the deal with Mark Grossinger Etess, the 38-year-old Trump executive in charge of the Taj Mahal. Then, Etess died in a helicopter crash about six months before the Taj Mahal opened. Since the deal was never formalized, Trump decided he wanted to renegotiate, paying less for Sinatra and canceling the other acts.

That’s when Sinatra sent his message to Trump, according to the book. The interaction killed the deal and Sinatra performed at rival casino The Sands instead.”

Good move, champ. If this was during the Corona lockdown, they’re gonna have to shut that Costco down and disinfect the entire store now.

Double Indemnity is you favorite movie?

Okay, I can see that. It was really good noir.

I love Fred MacMurray as a fast-talking insurance guy gone bad. So far from “My Three Sons”.

Little things about it do bother me, though - like have you ever seen an apartment door that opened OUTWARD into the hall? NO! There’s a reason for that.

Pumpkin time in the CDT zone. Fireworks are going south of us. Idiots.

Sweet scaly dreams, all, if that’s possible.

It was nice to have had some fun tonight on this thread. Been a while.

We are definitely staying inside, tomorrow, and given what is happening in Texas, probably for the next two weeks except for trips to the HEB grocery store where masks are required and no Bros or Karens are allowed in the store.

Dog help us all. This is just as scary as shit.

Good luck getting the House to approve an appropriation for this.

He was the villain in a James Bond movie once, but I can’t remember which one. I think Timothy Dalton was Bond.
