White House Cites This Interview in Attempt to Discredit Dr. Fauci

Politics • Views: 19,786

If you’re paying attention to the news you’ve probably heard by now that the Trump gang has begun openly attacking Dr. Tony Fauci, America’s top expert on infectious diseases. This CNN clip does a good job of showing how misleading the garbage coming from the White House is, but it’s also yet another example of a news media that plays dumb, and acts as if every day is a brand new world in which nothing ever happened before.

Because CNN’s Alisyn Camerota begins by asking, “I just want to ask you about this ‘tension’ or whatever’s happening with Dr. Fauci?”

“Whatever’s happening?” Seriously? They haven’t noticed yet that Trump is deliberately ignoring and attacking scientific and medical experts because he thinks he can deny the pandemic out of existence?

As coronavirus cases surge in the United States, the White House is taking aim at the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci. CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports.

When an administration has so unequivocally failed at every aspect of their response to this epidemic, they are undoubtedly going to attempt to smear and bring everyone down with them.

Damning CNN supercut shows how Trump has been ‘wrong about every aspect of the pandemic’

“By April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away,” he said.

“The coronavirus, which is, you know, very well under control in our country, we have very few people with it,”

“We’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up. And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15, within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

Are we supposed to believe Mark Levin dug through Obama’s trash 12 years ago, found an empty scrip bottle and saved it to post today?

OK so who has the prescription bottle from a former president handy? Is that legal? Fake? And how is it even relevant? It says its for malaria. Duh. That’s an actual approved use for the drug. COVID-19 isn’t. Maybe Levin can get some from the government stockpiles and take it himself, in the correct dosage and let us know how it goes. You first, Mark.

See this is one of those “signs from God” I was talking about yesterday at some point. You know the morons among us on Facebook are seeing these stories or hearing of them. This is the sign their dumb shit isn’t working and they still proceed. They literally only believe this is real when they are dying from it after likely being a disease vector themselves.

If anything, IF we manage to survive this, this shows us we have got to do better with science in schools with a focus on how science actually evolves and changes as new data/information is discovered. We also need to look at the current textbook system and have a national minimum standard that every public and private school must meet for graduation from high school and it has to begin in kindergarten. Common Core is too scary for them, name it something else and tweak it some more. Something has to change.

I know people don’t always like to hear this, but one of the things we need to do is to raise the salaries of teachers. Get people in who understand the scientific method. I would also require courses in statistics, and better courses in government.

So even assuming this Rx bottle is genuine, WTF does Levin even think is being “proved”? It says right there on the fucking label: “MALARIA”: which is what hydroxychloroquine is supposed to be used for.

It’s a little jarring to open FB and find one of those “It’s your friend EP’s Birthday today! Send him a message” when EP killed himself a couple of years ago.

In my circle in the disabled community, I see that every day. I just lost my neighbor and best friend last week. FB will be sure to remind me of our loss everyday (“our”—she was a prominent activist in my town).

According to Levin and his MAGAt audience, this bottle is supposed to show that liberals are “hypocrites” unless they go after Obama for using drug they deemed “deadly” when Trump was flogging it as a “cure” for CV-19.

Even the early reports of this drug working were about it being used in a hospital setting under constant supervision. IMO, pushing out this false information should be a criminal act. Levin isn’t going to take this shit, he knows what the studies say. He’s knowingly lying to his listeners. It should be criminal.

We have the USS Bonhomme Richard at dock heavily damaged after a fire/explosion. We have military bases experiencing covid19 outbreaks with higher percentage of personnel sick than even the general public. We have ships out of position. Trump’s left us weaker and undermined our security all while lying about how he’s done more to stand up to China than anyone.

He hasn’t.

First off, I’m really sorry about the divisions in your family. I don’t have it nearly as bad as you, but I’m slowly disengaging from my mom’s side of the family, where all the racist cousins are. I can’t fucking deal with it anymore.

Second: A hearty “Fuck, yeah, testify!” to your post. I’m with you, sister. I’m soooooooooooo sick of hearing about the Trumpgrets people, particularly since a huge chunk of them are the chickenshit “independents” who shouldn’t be allowed to care for a fucking goldfish, let alone vote in a presidential election.

We’re looking at a quarter million dead by the election. And everyone fucking asshole who voted for Trump; stayed home; voted third party; got cute and wrote in a name at the polling station; etc. is fucking indirectly responsible for this mess.

You just know a huge portion of these fuckwits pouring out their souls on camera on how truly sorry they are for voting for Trump are either going to back out and vote for him again, or stay home again.

I wished I believed in the hereafter, because I’d love to see every. Single. One of them do a three century tour of duty in Hell. Not for eternity, but enough to realize how fucking awful their decisions in 2016 really were.

That’s not quite accurate.

We pushed into recession in February, before the covid19 crisis reached a fever pitch.

We went from recession to full blown depression/free fall in March-May. And now we’re watching the “recovery” falter because something like 35 states not named NY/NJ are seeing widespread out of control outbreaks.

Ted Cruz has a beverage in hand; what is the correct protocol on a plane in that situation? Obviously he should have a mask — but what do you do while eating or drinking?

Don’t know how convenient it would be for eating, but for coffee I assume it would work the same as when I am out walking the dogs and want to take a hit - quickly lift up the mask, take a hit, pull mask back down

I’ve had coffee with a mask on; I move it aside to take a sip and then put it back. I think he’s holding the cup to have an excuse not to wear the mask.

I lived with an abusive bully for a few years a long time ago. It stopped when I grabbed a fucking hammer and hit him with it while he tried beating me for not having enough snacks in the house that day. And then the crying started and then the threats. I was gone by then, but he never laid a finger on me again or tried to find me like lots of abusers do. You have to fight just as dirty as they do.And you can do it without lying and cheating. Make them scared of real shit, not the stupid made up caricature of liberals they’ve been scared of for as long as I’ve been alive. When nice = weakness to someone, it won’t fix a thing to be nice and polite. That only works on non sociopaths/psychopaths.

It would be a totally legitimate prescription for such a trip — my use of the term “legitimate” was targeting the picture itself. Why would anyone have a photo of a totally normal, uninteresting, set of pills from 12 years ago? Like others here, I am skeptical that this is indeed a real photo of pills that Obama took before he was President.

It’s not even HCQ. It’s a completely different drug that no one has suggested was a covid19 treatment, least of all Trump himself.

It’s likely a photo edit, because who would actually hold on to a drug bottle from 12 years ago to then claim that this is proof of “something” Obama did or knew years before covid19 even existed.

Of course: even assuming that this prescription bottle is genuine (and I really see no evidence to support that view), we can note from the ever-helpful Wikipedia, this item from then-Senator Obama’s career:

He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad.

Travelling to East Africa? In August? - Gee, ya think some anti-malarial medicine might be a good idea….??

re: #131 Yeah Sure WhatEVs

A few of my prescriptions have been that detailed. Depends on your doctor. Some get VERY specific, telling you to take three pills a day unless it’s a full moon, then take 2. /

Also, because this drug has bad side effects and because malaria is a very “situational” condition, it makes sense that O would be directed to take the med when arriving in-country.
Modern prescriptions are done on a laser printer, but this has only been done in the past 5 years. Older bottles have an impact-printer label, as this one appears to be.

I think it’s legitimate. The Republicans are vicious ratfuckers, I hate them all, but they are ultimately very lazy ratfuckers who have no sense of pride or care in workmanship. They can’t even ratfuck good.

remember though, trump can scream fraud or whatever all he wants.
Sweeping generalizations are meaningless and carry no weight.

Elections are run by states and administered in counties and precincts.

he’s gonna have to go to court in a lot of places and make arguments based on specific evidence and proof. Most of those judges will not be friendly (or bugnuts). (it has to be in contestable areas, not deep red zones).

This ‘president’ and his team have lost way more cases than they won. They are frighteningly bad at knowing what they’re doing re the law and procedure.

the states count the ballots.
there’s little that a court could do. they cant change the result. or ‘invalidate’ it.
once the appropriate official certifies the slate of electors (they’re the ones who vote) it’s done.

An ex-inlaw of mine had a grandmother who had been being abused by her husband for a long, long time. It ended when the contents of a shotgun shell mysteriously ended up in his abdomen. Apparently lots of people knew what had been going on, which might have been why the cops didn’t seem to care too much about finding out how he had gotten shot. I get the general feeling that for many abusers, that is the only way to cure them of their abusiveness.

I just spent a lovely 45 minutes looking at the Top 100 Audobon Photography Awards for 2020.

Each photo is large and accompanied with the story of its capture, and the equipment used. Each one is a jewel. Couldn’t decide which to use, so used their first one on the list: a family of 8 young burrowing owls and their mother. I had to really reduce the size of this to make it fit. Any of these would make a great screensaver.

According to Levin and his MAGAt audience, this bottle is supposed to show that liberals are “hypocrites” unless they go after Obama for using drug they deemed “deadly” when Trump was flogging it as a “cure” for CV-19.

The thing is, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are, like all other antimalarials, horrible, dangerous drugs. But malaria is worse, that’s why we take them.

If they worked against covid-19 we’d take them for that, suffering the horrible side effects as the price for life. But they don’t work against covid-19, so we’d have to be stupid to take them for that.

(You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a close family member being treated for malaria by being covered in bags of ice cubes, attached to an intravenous drip of paracetamol (acetaminophen) hooked up to an EKG to see whether the best antimalarial available would kill them with a heart attack before the malaria would).

An item Twitter is pushing is the study on San Andreas fault quakes. The Twitter splash language:

New study suggests the chance of a big San Andreas quake has tripled
Out of the many faults in California, the San Andreas is singularly poised to be the one that unleashes a megaquake in our lifetime.

Very misleading.

San Andreas fault quakes are due to slippage along the fault. While these can be quite large, they are not “megaquakes”.

The really big quakes, like the Honshu quake that cause such damage in Japan a few years ago, are due to plate subduction. There is a risk of this in the US: in the Pacific northwest and in Alaska.

But not in California.

So yes, a large earthquake in California, say an 8.0, will cause a lot of damage. But top of the scale quakes, close to 9.0, only happen in the subduction zones.

An article in Vanity Fair from October 2018 looks at the DeVos/Prince families and their power in western Michigan, and how that is likely to have produced the <11,000 votes that put DT in office. Hostile Takeover.

They are just like the Kochs, except they are driven not only as libertarians (IMO) but fundamentalists that are going for power and the dismantling of the US government. The article ends with this:

For the time being, she [DeVos] has been in the forefront of Trump’s campaign to strip down federal agencies—a program now enforced across the executive branch, from the Departments of State and the Interior to the E.P.A., from the Post Office to the Bureau of Prisons. There is even a supposed proposal to merge the Labor and Education Departments. These are not experiments or improvisations. They are the advanced stages of a plan of privatization that reaches back decades. The DeVoses’ ideal, “selling America,” today can often mean selling it out—and selling it off, piece by piece.

In Donald Trump, the Medicis of West Michigan have found someone they can do business with. The partnership has helped usher in our brutish times, and each day the slogan MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN feels less like a promise than a threat.

235
Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus  Jul 13, 2020 • 3:56:33pm

Understand this: earthquakes are a part of life in California. Which is why brick houses are not built (yes, brick might adorn the face but it is not structural.)

The San Andreas is just the most famous of a very long list of known fault lines. It’s not even the most active one, just the biggest.

The cause is now known: North America has been creeping west/southwest over the eastern edge of the Pacific plate, a plate that has wanted to move northward for as long as we have evidence for via the Hawaii sea mount chain.

So the Pacific plate goes north/northwest, and North America creeps over it heading west/southwest.

That is why I am now sitting on an old volcano that used to be part of the continental shelf off of what is today Mexico.

Bottom line: all these quakes are now expected. Even the largest one that can happen - as the LA Times story notes - is around a 7.8. If it happens in a populated area there will be much destruction.

We know this.

The new study simply upped the odds that this can happen in this year. Or next year. But everyone expects it sometime over the next century.

How well are we prepared for it? Hopefully well enough, but given the decline in the US as evidenced by Trump and his followers, I’m not sure how much of a national support there will be for aid to California.

Dr. John Gartner: “Donald Trump is the most successful bio-terrorist in human history”

Psychologist and former Johns Hopkins professor on Trump’s pandemic conduct: “He is a first-degree mass murderer”

Dr. John Gartner, whom I have interviewed on several previous occasions, is a psychologist, psychoanalyst and former professor at the Johns Hopkins University Medical School. Gartner is also the founder of the Duty to Warn PAC, an organization working to raise awareness about the danger to the United States and the world posed by Donald Trump. Gartner is a contributor to the 2017 bestseller “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President” and is featured in the upcoming documentary “Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump.”

In our latest conversation, Gartner warns that Donald Trump is actively using the coronavirus pandemic as a type of biological weapon against the American people. Gartner also explains how Donald Trump, like other malignant narcissists who attain great power, is willing to hurt and even kill his own followers as a way of satisfying his personal sadism and need for narcissistic energy.

Gartner also explains that Donald Trump’s supporters are members of a political death cult in which not wearing a mask and refusing other rational measures to stop the coronavirus pandemic are acts of loyalty and love to their personal savior and Great Leader.

Because of his extreme malignant narcissism, Donald Trump can and should be compared to leaders such as Adolf Hitler. At this point, the country is really at the endgame with Trump — we are getting closer and closer to the bunker moment. Donald Trump is not just incompetent. He’s not just delusional. He is not just narcissistic and doesn’t care about others. Donald Trump’s behavior with the coronavirus pandemic is intentional. He is malevolent. He is a first-degree mass murderer. This is a plan.

I am a great believer in the principle of Occam’s razor. The simplest explanation is usually the right one. Trump disbanded the pandemic task force. First, Trump said that the virus was not going to come to America. Then he chose not to do more testing. Trump chose to not use the Defense Production Act to make more needed medical supplies and equipment.

It would make sense. In a way, Kongzi (Confucius) taught the young men who collected his sayings in The Analects that to be a junzi (often translated as “gentleman”) they would have to relearn the rites and rituals of the exemplars of the past in China (which is projecting a modern China onto what was a congeries of states at the time).

Lets assume 60k a day for a week. ~1-3% death rate means 1-4X worth of 911 deaths from this week’s weak response. That’s normal now . Complication % is a burden upon us collectively and those unfortunate souls specifically going forward.

I hope CA and then people on the ground (not the gov’t) can get shit together and bend it downward before it gets worse. How many get caught in the lag?

Failed state(s). No excuse.

284
austin_blue  Jul 13, 2020 • 5:37:19pm

Well, now The Who admits we’ve got aerosol spread. So if you are inside a building, and they don’t have HEPA filters, you’re just sitting inside a building full of people shedding viroids and having it blown around by the HVAC system.

So, most Texas schools have HVAC systems, because, duh!, it’s fucking Texas.

But how many have HEPA filters? If they don’t, can they be retrofitted? If they can’t, can the buildings be used at all? Maybe we should poll Independent School Districts across The Great State and run the numbers?

Maybe the Feds should also think about this before they flap their fucking cake holes and yell “Open the skoolz!”

This is not rocket science, this is Risk Evaluation 101. Any experienced ER coordinator is going to ask this simple question Day One.

Why can’t the Press?

Any spike in cases from the Fourth of July weekend should start showing up over the next week or so. There’s nothing I can think of where Americansidiots in California are going to absolutely insist on being idiots until Labor Day weekend. So we can probably keep the ICUs from being swamped here after next week and through the beginning of September.

We are not going to have 40 million tests ready to go in September, so the lockdown is not going to work that way (just like how we screwed up the first time). We literally just have to stay like this until a drug is found that actually prevents progression of COVID into ARDS, a working vaccine and the boosters are ready to go, or we have a 30 consecutive day period with no new cases.

It is really sad — Israel was handling this as well as the best in Europe or Asia and then they blew it entirely by opening too much too early, but maybe that’s the fate of all corrupt authoritarian wannabes who support Trump, even those like Bibi who have a fully functioning intellect, while lacking a real moral compass..

Teddy was sitting on the couch next to me, just hanging out. He stood up to jump off the couch, and I noticed that he was hesitating. I watched to see what was up. He has arthritis in his back legs so I’m always scrutinizing his movements to be on the look out for any changes or indications of pain. Turns out, one of his back legs was stepping on his tail. When he tried to plant his back foot to jump off, it would pull his tail and stop him.
