I think Miller has the most punchable face in the entire Administration and that’s saying something because there are a lot of top contenders.

PC question. I have a computer I built back in the second generation of i5s. It’s worked great up until two days ago, when it struggled to turn on, and then failed to turn on yesterday. Thinking it was the power supply, I bought a new one today, no deal. I get the little green light on the motherboard that says that it’s receiving power, but it will not turn on. No spinning fans, nothing on the monitor indicating a power up.

I have pulled all the cards, most of the memory, and have checked all of the connections. I even replaced the cmos battery just in case. No deal. Does it sound to anyone like the motherboard just gave up?

Well, this sucks. My dad just called and said my stepmom, who has been fighting cancer for five years now, was taken to hospital in an Ambulance this morning.

It’s NOT Covid (they were both tested). We don’t know much yet. He’s also heartbroken that because of the restrictions she can’t have any visitors, including him.

Good juju appreciated.

Yep. If you happen to have a random compatible CPU floating around, that is what I would try next. Other than that, new computer time.

Only thing I’d try is reseating the CPU in case heat pulled it away from the socket. Otherwise, the question is the same class MB to reuse everything else or a new gen mobo with an AMD X570 chipset and a AMD Ryzen 7 4700G.

Run the motherboard with the most minimal configuration; memory, graphics, no HD. only connect the power switch wiring in the case. If you have 4 (or 2) memory sticks, try running with just one and swap it out. (That said, I have never seen memory just fail.)

My last build had an odd failure: The reset button shorted out (it was an old case, and near the ocean, too.) and caused my new board to continuously reset. I seldom use the reset button for its intended purpose, so off that went. Problem solved. (I had other problems that took me a month to figure out, but in the end all my hardware was good.)

We were #1 in Covid deaths again today! Yay, Texas! Everything is bigger here.

I think both Texas and Florida are cooking the the books on reported vs. actual COVID deaths. The numbers look hinkie.

It’s actually pretty well documented (4000 mysterious pneumonia deaths) that Florida has excess mortality which should be attributed to C19. And they did this dance with people from out of state not really counting, too.

While a lot of us suspect Texas is playing the same games, they seem to be hiding it better.

We wrote four months ago that the worsening pandemic, along with Biden emerging as the Democratic nominee instead of Bernie Sanders, was the “perfect storm” Republicans feared. Now, with the death toll nearing 150,000, the environment has gotten even worse for the GOP, prodded along by Trump’s missteps. Racial injustice protests after the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery in early June further galvanized the nation, leading to rapid cultural shifts against Confederate monuments and even the long pushed for change of the Mississippi state flag, which still bore the Confederate battle flag emblem.

If anyone’s ever wondered just how big a piece of shit Stephen Miller is, well…..here ya go:

Stephen Miller, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, is insisting his grandmother did not die of the coronavirus, despite a death certificate that states otherwise.

Miller’s maternal uncle, David Glosser, who has criticized Miller in the past for crafting Trump’s restrictive immigration policies, took to Facebook to commemorate the death of his mother, Ruth Glosser, who died at 97 in Southern California, Mother Jones reported Thursday. He said in the post she died of “the late effects of COVID 19.”

The White House has come under fire for mishandling the pandemic. On Thursday, the number of infected in the United States hit 4 million. The death toll tops 141,000.

Mother Jones asked the White House for a response.

“This is categorically false, and a disgusting use of so-called journalism when the family deserves privacy to mourn the loss of a loved one,” the White House said. “His grandmother did not pass away from COVID. She was diagnosed with COVID in March and passed away in July, so that timeline does not add up at all. His grandmother died peacefully in her sleep from old age. I would hope that you would choose not to go down this road.”

Usually, motherboards die when their capacitors fail; these parts are driven hard and some vendors use cheap parts. My last motherboard developed a problem where it would boot only when it felt like it, and I had to do all kinds of rituals to get it to behave. When you have to sacrifice a goat to get your work done, it’s time to move on. Also, while I’m very good at fixing and stretching my electronics as far as they can go, if I have to mess with something more than twice, it’s time to junk it.

Then it’s not even getting to POST, which given the age of the board, probably means Sherlock is right about a capacitor finally giving up the ghost. It’s not impossible to fix, assuming that it hasn’t blown and eaten into the traces. When you get a chance to look at the board, check for any of the barrel-shaped bits that look swollen, darkened, or split open.

Biden and the Lincoln Project should probably both be taking about how this is going to be the “October Surprise” and it’s going to be full of doctored videos and fake documents.

I’ve seen at least three bits of speculation about an “October Surprise”:

1. Criminal charges brought due to the Durham “probe” that somehow catch some low-ranking underlings in what the wingnuts like to dub “process crimes,” leading to the last days of the election filed with talk about “plea deals” leading to Biden or even Obama being charged with felonies

2. “Revelations” from Ukraine that show either Hunter or Joe knew “something” about corruption at Burisma and that’s why the WH pressed to get Shokin out, with the press talking again about how this “scandal” needs a full Congressional investigation and Joe needs to “come clean.”

3. An announcement is made that a CV-19 vaccine has been found in a lab sponsored by the federal government, with plans to quickly begin production and crank it out before year’s end. This will (somehow) totally “vindicate” Donny in the eyes of the public.

Yup, the follow-on comments are my experience as well.

Basically, if no power to the motherboard or anything else, then it is likely to be the power supply.

After replacing the power supply, the motherboard should show that it is getting power. And it’s rom should start to boot up.

If it doesn’t respond, the motherboard has the a failure. If the rom will start up, it can usually identify what part is failing for you.

And yes, at times it can feel like you are replacing the tires, one by one, in order to fix a flat.

As suggested, try a minimal configuration but first I would pull the video card (if using dedicated graphics), the cpu and the memory sticks. Get a natural rubber eraser and use it to carefully clean the gold ‘fingers’ (contacts) on each and then reassemble. I’ve revived numerous older systems this way, just handle carefully and discharge any static before and during cleaning. The gold layer is ultra thin and the base metal that it is on will start to oxidize through it in some climates.

When pulling the cpu from the socket, be careful about keeping a good grip on it so you don’t slip and damage the wire contacts in the socket. Same with dropping it back in. I like to clean the cpu, unlatch it and use tape to lift it out without fuss.

Could try forcing their hand to release whatever cooked-up nonsense they have early. Put out a pre-emptive strike, something like “the Trump administration, acting out of panic, is planning to put out a series of lies about former VP Biden. We must remember that Trump himself is a pathological liar, so anything the White House throws out there can be easily dismissed.”

They genuinely thought they’d get away with things being “over” by August. The CARES Act was always written to be a one-and-done affair, a “temporary” assistance bill that they never planned to extend or follow up with further aid. They assumed that it was going to be like past outbreaks in the US: A few weeks of terror, a few thousand infections/deaths, and then states got it “under control” in time for the summer holidays to wipe out people’s memory of the whole matter.

They figured by the time it got to the convention, CV-19 would be up there with SARS and H1N1: A flash-in-the-pan scare that the media blew out of proportion, something that they’d be laughing about as voters figured out they’d stayed home and stayed away from other people for no good reason. The jobs would quickly be restored as businesses felt safe to reopen, making their arguments that people needed to “go back to work” seem like common sense rather than a death sentence. And all the Dems who’d criticized Trump for not taking the whole thing seriously would look “foolish” for politicizing what had been an outbreak of something that was “no worse than the flu.”

Even their supposed work on a new bill is obviously half-hearted, as their political orthodoxy is warring with electoral realities. Honestly, if you asked them away from the cameras what they think, they’d tell you that what needs to be done is there need to be federal penalties for people who won’t go “back to work” and that the whole thing is happening for one reason: To hurt Trump’s reelection bid.

hi

If I could afford to be a state legislator, I would run against my senator Steve Erdman (Hack-District 47). At least I could take away his “I’m a vet, vote for me” schtick. Plus the district is small enough I could campaign in all of it and I know many of the people here personally (including Senator Erdman). The problem is the pay for a state legislator is so low that unless you have independent income, you can’t afford to be one.

I really don’t know who to believe here: a vast group of scientists and researchers around the world who are united on the idea of man-made climate change and only differ slightly on minor details, or a state senator from a town of 800 people? Who to believe here?

Opponents of a bill that would require a state plan for dealing with extreme weather and the warming of the planet blocked the advancement of the proposal on Thursday, despite an offer by its chief sponsor to remove the words “climate change” from the bill.

State Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks of Lincoln, who introduced Legislative Bill 283, said that 34 other states had already created such climate action plans or were in the process of doing them and that Nebraska needed to plan for the next catastrophic flood and for the future of agriculture on a warming planet.

Sen. John McCollister of Omaha, who picked LB 283 as his priority bill, acknowledged that rural senators and those who don’t believe that man is contributing to the rising heat might fear such a bill. But McCollister said it was aimed at preserving the economic health of the state.

But opponents, led by Sens. Dan Hughes of Venango and Steve Erdman of Bayard, questioned the $250,000 cost and the need for such a study. They and other opponents said that the planet is in a “very active weather cycle” that was caused by nature and that it’s a “hoax” that man is contributing to the more extreme weather that scientists have linked to climate change.

That reminds me of the beginning of the pandemic, when a local state senator / family practitioner started putting out videos claiming that the novel coronavirus had been in the country much earlier, that it was much less deadly than everyone claimed, that we were making a big mistake by shutting everything down, etc. He was one of the earliest proponents of what is now the standard right-wing argument for opening states back up. At that time, though, my rebuttal was along the same lines as yours: Who should we believe, an entire community of experts who specialize in infectious disease, or some country family doctor from Backwater, USA who spends half his time in state government and not even performing his practice?

LINCOLN — A Gretna company, Community Pharmacy Services, obtained the four drugs used in the August 2018 execution of double-murderer Carey Dean Moore, the state’s first execution in 21 years.

The supplier was revealed in 44 pages of public documents released late Thursday by the Nebraska Department of Corrections after the ACLU of Nebraska, The World-Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star sued for their release.

The owner of the company, Kyle Janssen, issued a statement shortly after the records were released saying that Community Pharmacy Services regretted its decision to sell those drugs and that it has not sold drugs to the Nebraska prison system, or any other correctional department, since.

Nebraska’s new lethal injection drugs came from Gretna pharmacy (Omaha World-Herald)

The four drugs used were diazepam (a sedative), fentanyl (a powerful opioid painkiller), cisatracurium (a paralyzing drug intended to stop the inmate’s breathing) and potassium chloride (a drug that causes a heart attack in high doses). That four-drug combination has not been used by any state since, according to Robert Dunham of the Death Penalty Information Center based in Washington, D.C.

At least one of the drugs, potassium chloride, was set to expire the month that Moore was put to death.

The records indicated that a fifth drug was also obtained: hydromophone, a potent painkiller sold under the brand name Dilaudid. But Dunham speculated that Nebraska officials declined to use it after the drug was one of two used in a botched execution in Arizona.

Fortunately we are debt-free. Debt was never a thing I acquired since my family was poverty-stricken from the moment my father died. Poor people couldn’t get loans in the Sixties and Seventies.

My wife avoided incurring debt except for the purchase of a house in Colorado Springs, which she sold for much more than she paid for it after Digital Equipment Corporation went belly up along with her job. She was left in the unenviable position her experience in computers had been rendered moot, whilst her three college degrees were met with the same response (you’re over-educated) for any other job for which she applied.

She did not have another job again until she became out town library director here, where “over-education” meant she qualified for a much higher classification of librarian certification than normally required in such a small town.

Meanwhile in the obituary column of the Scottsbluff Star-Herald for some reason is this article.

Hail storm causes devastating damage for local crops

Crops in Scotts Bluff County were hit with severe hail on Sunday causing costly damage to plants during crucial growth stages, leaving some farmers with nothing to show for a season of hardwork.

Scottsbluff farmer Andy Groskopf said crop damage from Sunday’s hail storm has come at a devastating time of the season, after growers have already invested thousands of dollars in this years crop.

“The worst thing is the farmers had all of their inputs, all of their money in their crop,” Groskopf said. “They already got in there and worked so hard for it and hail just comes and wipes it out, and there is nothing you can do. Keeping a positive attitude, that’s about the only thing they can do.”

Fifth generation farmer Joe Nichols said Sunday’s hail storm which he estimated to be three miles wide and to have ping-pong size hail took down hundreds of acres of corn, alfalfa and beans.

This hail storm is not the first to take a toll on his families’ farm, Nichols said. For the last six consecutive years, his crop has been hit by storms similar to this and has been significantly damaged by hail year after year.

Crop insurance from the USDA is a really complex matter, as you can see from this year’s chart.

I would imagine if the farmer cited in the article has lost his crop six years in a row is still in business, his insurance pays for most of it (but gets more expensive every year).

This is not how disease works. From a local columnist in the Sidney (Nebr.) Sun-Telegraph, the lede:

The fight between collectivists and individualists continues to be manifested by those calling for and opposing “one size fits all” approaches in fighting the coronavirus. We see it in calls for national and statewide mandates to wear masks and demands that schools reopen or remain closed this fall.

The idea that people in Washington, D.C. or Lincoln can dictate policy to people in a county hundreds of miles away flies in the face of individualism. This is especially true in matters such as an epidemic. The dispersed population of the Nebraska Panhandle coupled with distances between towns affords its own mitigating effect on the spread of a virus.

I would write a response, but somehow I don’t think they would print it in the letters column.

Everything about that column is wrong. Distance between Panhandle cities and towns will prevent spread of the virus? How does that explain every town in the Panhandle except mine has cases? Aside from that, it was brought here on April 1 from someone in Colorado. Early on it overwhelmed the Kimball hospital when it hammered the staff there.

Does he make his local decisions on the weather, or does he rely on the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne, Wyoming?

The bulk of Cheyenne County’s residents live in single-family homes and not apartments? So what? That means the bulk of the cases in Cheyenne County are in single-family homes.

There is automatic resistance from “individualists” when a distant “edict” is imposed? Yup, that’s how our country became the world’s leper colony.

And state health experts gets put in scare quotes? Really? They’re not experts?

Finally the nation did not envision individualism from its founders. The very idea of the Constitution is a collective action to create a governing document that applied to the whole of the nation, not just those who drafted it in Philadelphia.

I’m not going to rely on distant “health experts” from the Mayo Clinic or the National Cancer Institute to tell me if I have cancer or how serious it is if I do; I’m only going to seek out a local physician who makes up his own mind without the input of distant “health experts” and didn’t attend a distant “medical school” (even though there aren’t any here for hundreds of miles away), or be licensed by a distant “medical board” in Lincoln.

Gaa.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. Trump’s still so desperate to get schools reopened, he’s corrupted the CDC to do so.

The CDC issued initial guidelines on reopening schools that Trump promptly blasted as being too stringent and costly.

That was the tell - and the result is that the CDC watered down the guidance, all while still recommending that places where covid19 is out of control not reopen.

Covid19 is currently out of control in more than 30 states. Now isn’t the time to reopen schools. It’s time to shut things down again, mask mandates initiated, and do what should have been done nationwide months ago. But no, Trump thinks that stringing this along somehow helps him?

He’s an addled know nothing whose instincts are awful. He hasn’t got a clue, and his every policy reeks of know nothing authoritarianism, misogyny, and white nationalism. That’s what he thinks should be done.

Well, with the Spam brand name on it I imagine it’s the same stuff. The company would use Germany’s robust intellectual property laws to go after them otherwise.

Plus the ingredient list from the Czech language posting reads like Spam.

A “slick” and a “dome.” CBP Office of Air and Marine has 16 P-3s, 8 AEWs and 8LRTs. The P-3AEW (Airborne Early Warning or “dome”) has the same airborne early warning radar as the carrier based E-2 Hawkeye and is normally used for border and anti-smuggling patrol. The LRT (Long Range Tracker ie “slick”) has fighter type radar (apparently the APG-66 from the F-16) and operates in tandem with the domes.

Both versions have quite a bit of extra interior space and, as Rogoway speculates, can be used as priority transports.

Sarah is giving Fox way more credit than they deserve. Fox doesn’t trust the intelligence or fact-finding ability of their viewers. They like their viewers ignorant and uninformed, because that’s the best way to keep them malleable and controllable.

If Fox managed to bowdlerize the interview to make Trump sound coherent, it would have been such an obvious chop job that no one would have believed it. Fox can’t change fact that Trump’s an addled know nothing white nationalist - so they lean into his incompetence and cognitive issues as if they’re somehow endearing or that they appeal to his slack jawed base.

All the while, bulk of GOP leaders and Fox propagandists are doing whatever they can to protect themselves from covid19, keep their kids home schooled, and avoid working in the studio together. The WH, skips the protection part altogether, and puts everyone coming into contact with them at risk.

There was a key moment in the anti-Gorbachev putsch of 1991 in which the pro-Soviet leaders, having been holed up for 24 hours without sleep, wanted to make a TV announcement that everything was “under control”.

Their hands were shaking. The TV station could have panned in tight so as not to show that, but they pulled back so the people could see just who was trying to assume control of their country.

It was a key moment in restoring Gorbachev.

And who have benefited massively from various infrastructure projects heavily subsidized by the state or national government they disdain. Both sides benefit from transportation and utility networks since, for instance, it’s easier to get their crops to market to benefit both themselves and the citizens eating that food. But otherwise, without those investments they couldn’t afford they would probably not have electricity and a number of other things.

In COVID-19 related news out of the Czech Republic, the much-vaunted “smart quarantine” app has been….less then stellar.

Of course, there’s a simple reason for it. Only 60% of Czechs have a smartphone - and most of them tend to be under the age of 50. But that means 40% of Czechs, the vast majority of them being older people (and therefore more vulnerable to COVID-19) are using feature phones….and I still see older folks using Nokia 3310 phones, FFS.

Now I’m pushing 60, and occasionally I will remember Spam exists and buy a can. Conspira-liars work by hitting seams of otherwise unsuspected ignorance. In this uproar, which was a sensation among freepers and talk radio dupes, the goobers were running around asking “OMG! Why does DHS need millions of rounds of handgun ammo, if not to massacre white babies?” They had no idea that several armed agencies, with many thousands of armed personnel, are part of DHS and they buy handgun ammunition to replenish stocks depleted mostly by target practice. These purchases are usually made on multi-year contracts to get the best price, so they don’t buy the same stuff every year and the purchases usually exceed the annual expenditure of ammo. They also apparently did not give a moment’s thought to the IRS’s need for a modest amount of handgun ammo, not realizing that the agents who investigate tax cheats, especially Republicans, will need to be armed for their own protection.
Reminds me of the yokel media types in Lubbock who were scandalized to learn that fire marshals are armed. “WHY! why!” they demanded. “Arsonists are often privileged types and they really, really don’t like to be arrested.” was my response.

That NYT headline should read: “Republicans, realizing they’re fucked six ways from Sunday, frantically flee the sinking Trumptanic”.

If the some of the fleeing rats; the Lincoln Project, for instance; want to help out by gnawing holes in the still buoyant hulk, we should not discourage them, but we do need to remember that they are still rats.

270towin.com which is less bullish on the election than electoral-vote.com has safe-lean-likely Democratic electoral votes at 278 and safe-likely-leans Republican electoral votes at 169.

Toss ups are now listed as OH, NC, GA, FL, AZ, ME-2, NE-2 (total of ninety-one electoral votes).

Even if the GOP took all of those ninety-one votes, that is not enough to win.

Two states are “lean GOP”: IA (6) and TX (38). More states are lean Dem.

While the Democratic Party doesn’t need the toss-up states and districts, there is no reason they shouldn’t compete for them. The lean states need to be protected as well.

Very true. The Presidential race is only one facet of the election process: and even more so this year. It’s an unfortunate truism that even “wave” elections at the top don’t always have a down-ballot effect: but Senate, House, Statehouse and local races can be every bit as important. Especially in a post-Census year like 2021. If there really is going to be a “blue tsunami” this year, it behooves the Democrats to try to surf it into as many seats as possible nationwide.

1. Any person who commits an act which constitutes a crime under international law is responsible therefore and liable to punishment.
2. The fact that internal law does not impose a penalty for an act which constitutes a crime under international law does not relieve the person who committed the act from responsibility under international law.

He had to make everything stretch with the ration coupons because when he married Mom in November 1942 they used all their ration coupons for the month to provide for the wedding cake and dinner. Mom said she circled December 1 on the calendar because that’s when she could go to City Hall to get the next months ration book and when that day came they had a feast—1 egg each and thin sliced SPAM…

take a pause from all the covid statistics and break up your otherwise dull day

here’s some running related stats. what else have you got to do?

after three months of not running (and thus gaining weight) the foot and ankle doc cleared me to start running on Feb 1. I told him my style had always been to run a lot, mostly easy miles, with gentle increases and he said go for it.

- 10 minutes a day, every other day. It was a deadly and impatient two weeks.
- Then i was allowed to start building slowly to 20 minutes, then more days a week, till it was 20 minutes a day every day.
- Then I was able to start adding an easy 10% a week
- I recently hit 60 minutes a day, every day.

- I’ve run 105 days straight.
- Missed only 4 days in the last 105.
- And a total of 16 since I began 177 days ago, which includes those pesky early alternate days.

- I’ve logged 6,224 minutes / 103.75 hours.
- an overall average of just under 40 minutes a day and of course still increasing.
- The last 30 days average is 56 minutes a day.

Not bad considering I started at zero and I’m still rebuilding my strength and form.

The fasciitis is totally gone. Not a twinge, not a hint, not a reminder. No other running related aches or pains either during the run or lingering after throughout the day. (This is a big deal!)

I haven’t quite got back to long, slow, easy, effortless, endless runs. That easy, light, and smooth with no desire to stop. Though I’m close.

I am a very minimalist, low tech runner. Even so, today I bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 35 gps watch.

All in all pretty good for almost 63 years old.

re: #137 Decatur Deb

I owed a pittance through grad school, even with 3 kids then, because of the Vietnam-era GI Bill and 8 hours a day on an assembly line.

My parents paid my way through most of undergrad. I paid for the last year, working 32 hours a week. I dinked around until I was 25 (it wasn’t deliberate, I was practicing the Austin slacker en.wikipedia.org lifestyle) before having a discussion with an ex-boyfriend who said, “of course your father will pay for law school.” Well, Dad paid (some) living expenses. I worked through law school, took out loans, and got government grants. My parents helped pay off my law school loans after it became clear that actual lawyering wasn’t for me.

Decades later, I’m still tickled that I got “national defense” grants for law school.

I absolutely do not recommend people go to law school today unless they have a full-ride scholarship or someone is paying for it. You can easily, EASILY get into owing into six figures just from three years in law school. The state law school I went to? When I went to law school, tuition went up from $36/hour to $75/hour. Now, tuition is $30,000 a year. You might get some grants, but you’re still going to be in the hole.

Oh, and since the bar is next week for states still having it, these days you’re looking at well in excess of $10 grand just to take prep classes for the multistate (200 questions of “which is the most wrong answer”) and then whatever the state prescribes. I remember dropping $1,000 for the MBE prep class in 1989 and that was an *insane* amount of money. But I passed. I don’t remember how much BarBri was, but it wasn’t cheap either.

ETA: at least these days you didn’t have to drive miles and miles to the one location in Houston or wherever that the MBE and bar prep classes were being held. But still…I just checked, the MBE and BarBri look to be around $8,000.

Why don’t they want statehood? Are they worried that:
1) This will make it impossible for them to become independent if they ever so choose?
2) This will cause _all_ federal laws to be applied to them immediately, and as such cause economic issues due to the application of more government regs, to what would be our poorest state, and another isolated one due to its island status. The Jones Act already screws them (and Hawaii and the other territories) for that matter.

seems like it’s similar to what happened to ocasio-cortez

a (white) man telling a(ny) woman she’s wrong

(and doing it badly) - ie because i say so even with nothing to back it up

As Andrew Mellon, the only Treasury Secretary who had THREE Presidents serve under him (Harding, Coolidge & Hoover) “in a depression, wealth returns to it’s natural owners”

well played

I’m having a very hard time understanding how it is in the interest of the Republican Party to crash the economy three months before a general election.

Voter suppression.

If 20 million people are evicted in the next few months, their ID’s won’t reflect their current address.

For first time since 1950s, NY has 3 MLB teams playing in the state.

That’s all because Toronto didn’t want the gringos from across the border bringing the covid with them.

Another one of their ingenious “This will only affect Democrats” plans then.

So UFOs came all the way here to lose their hubcaps?

Guess you could say we’re a galactic pothole then.

But who will know that? It’s too soon for that to be known, isn’t it?

I take your point, for sure. I’m just not sure how effective that’s going to be.

I know but I’m kinda shocked. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t make them… unpopular.

Comet Neowise 400mm f/5.6 25 sec. exp from Wrightwood, Ca.

Last night’s comet from 7,300 feet up in the San Gabriel Mtns. It has faded almost a full magnitude since two nights ago as seen from this location; that, plus the waxing moon, signals that this appearance is mostly over. (For the next six thousand years)

What more proof do people need to see that they are KILLING US ON PURPOSE? They hate us that much.

Are you familiar with caging?

The RNC sends letters to every registered voter in a chosen jurisdiction, marked “Do Not Forward.” In that letter is a form that must be returned within 30 days to prove you’re a still-alive person who resides at that address. If their mailing gets returned to sender as “not at this address”, or if you just don’t send back the card, you get put on the list of people they’ll challenge at the polls on Election Day.

This is semi-legal, and they’ve mis-used it a bunch of times in a bunch of jurisdictions. But the consent decrees all timed out a few years ago.

ETA: even if most of the challenges fail, it really slows things down. At an over-crowded polling place with long lines, that can keep a lot of people from voting.

So presidential. The media has been telling us that Trump has a new tone because he read off a teleprompter during a COVID-19 speech.

Arghhhhhhh
