Ok, this probably won’t ever get to the west, though I can hope for Netflix and a decent set of subtitles, but this looks like the best bit of space opera since The Expanse:

I don’t know if it was mentioned elsewhere, but IHME increased their estimate for Covid deaths by November to 250K. They’re also predicting 295K by December.

Which would be fine if you’re someone elevated to a job you can’t do who thinks they should be able to use U.S. Special Forces as their own personal assassins.

I’ve seen this happen in Crested Butte in 2004 and Steamboat Springs in 2008. Good skiing!

6 months ago today: Day 1 of the 52-Hour Interlodge

“FEBRUARY 6TH, 2020 Interlodge went into effect at 5:30am on Thursday morning, requiring all residents, visitors, and employees to stay inside until avalanche control had been completed. Avalanche mitigation by the Alta Ski Patrol and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) produced results as the snow and winds kept coming. While a handful of Alta Ski Patrollers, employees and skiers were able to make it up the canyon in the morning, the decision was made at noon to keep Alta Ski Area and Snowbird closed for the day. That evening, a one-hour window allowed hotel guests and employees to leave the canyon, everyone else was still under interlodge protocol.”

You know that woman in Beruit who was in her wedding dress getting pictures taken as the explosion occurred? She’s a doctor from Michigan, was in Beruit to get married, and tended to wounded in her dress.

And they called Islam a death cult.

The Saudi’s were smart enough to limit the Haj from the normal 2+ million people to 10,000 people — all Saudi Arabian residents (of various nationalities) and requiring them to quarantine themselves for 2 weeks.

I’ve known of a few people who have travelled internationally recently, on the circuitous itineraries required since so many flights are down. Someone I know travelling to Indonesia (where he is working) mentioned having to take a covid test in the past 72 hours, but since the results didn’t reach Indonesia on time, they ended up having to stay quarantined in a hotel for a day or so until the tests reached.

For South Korea, it’s mandatory quarantine in government run quarantine.

Of course many countries are closed off to everyone but their own citizens and legal residents….

Trump actually went there. Prepare for Beaufort Shitstorm Scale 12

Executive Order on Addressing the Threat Posed by TikTok

Executive Order on Addressing the Threat Posed by WeChat

(Goes to the White House proclamations page)

Both start:

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,

You don’t know how any of this works. Worse for you, you don’t know the intense pile of shyte about to rain down on your Twitter account.

Good luck.
