Again, I’m not entirely convinced they’re actually trying to win. Nor for all of Trump’s bluster, do I think he’ll try to cling to power after he loses. Let us not forget, deep down in the pit of his being where a soul should reside, he is ultimately a chickenshit. He gets to choose a replacement, I think most states have a process in place to replace someone on the ballot. Even if they don’t, the electors could probably vote for whomever he unofficially picked.

Or he could wait until he’s sworn in and appoint a new VP who would have to be approved by both Houses of Congress.

Stealing an election is easier if you can narrow the margins. If you’re trailing by double digits and suddenly close the gap on Election Night, even Stevie Wonder would be able to see what happened there.

Biden for the most part doesn’t need to say another word from now until the election.

The worst day of a Biden administration will be 1000x better than the best day with Trump in office.

Literally the only thing I’m worried about right now is the election being a clusterfuck and Trump trying to stay in power. I want to hear from people in power how that’s not going to happen. What’s the plan? Sitting around and just hoping it isn’t going to happen is not a plan.

Hush now child, and don’t you cry
Your folks might understand you, by and by
Move on up, toward your destination
You may find from time to time
Complication
Bite your lip, and take a trip
Though there may be wet road ahead
And you cannot slip
So move on up for peace will find
Into the steeple of beautiful people
Where there’s only one kind
So hush now child, and don’t you cry
Your folks might understand you, by and by
Move on up, and keep on wishing
Remember your dream is your only scheme
So keep on pushing
Take nothing less, than the second best
Do not obey, you must keep your say
You can past the test
Just move on up, to a greater day
With just a little faith
If you put your mind to it you can surely do it

Based on 1972’s precedent if the Vice-Presidential nominee withdraws or passes away the Democratic National Committee will name a replacement and the DNC members will vote by state with the same number of votes their state has at the convention.

Every Secretary of State needs to pledge to certify results pursuant to the law. Every governor needs to pledge to send the electoral votes as cast. House and Senate leadership need to make it clear that they will not tolerate any bullshit from Trump or Pence in delaying/denying the count of electoral votes.

As for the rest of us: we need to run up the fucking score.

Sleuth posted this tweet downstairs…

The funny part is, the guitarist is none other than super-dude Steve Lukather from Toto, and just about every Michael Jackson track that had a guitar on it (except for that one with Slash). The video might not convey it, but I’m willing to bet that Luke had that guitar running through about 500 watts of amplification. Probably drowned out the leaf blowers completely.

re: #82 KGxvi

I said “probably” because we had the Supreme Court case this year saying state legislatures can bind electors to the general election results, but if a VP nominee were to die between nomination and when the electors cast their votes, I doubt any state legislature is going to get too worked up over their electors voting for the replacement.

In 1912, Vice President James Sherman died after the election but before Electors cast their ballots. In that situation the Republican National Committee named Nicholas Butler as the replacement VP candidate and the 8 winning GOP electors (Utah, Vermont) cast their Vice-Presidential ballots for Butler.

Ah. I thought Sherman had died before the election. In 1872, Horace Greeley died after losing to Grant.

Yes but in 1872 the Greely Electors had no direction how to vote so they scattered their votes among several candidates.

Where does the Deep State find all these doubles to replace people who have all been secretly executed? Do they like, clone them?

Direct line to Tipoca City on the planet Kamino. Bobba Fett was the intermediator.

I thought everyone knew that. :-)

re: #19 Eclectic Cyborg

You know when cops pull a brown person over for some bullshit reason I doubt they give much though to what “type” of brown person they are.

Other than maybe deciding whether they’re the type they can get away shooting/abusing or not.

When they teleport them off to the secret execution site they use the teleporter buffer to create a compliant clone that they can complete Deep State brainwashing on and then set out to be the replacement.*

* - This is a bit like a Schlock Mercenary story where they found out that the race that was running the galaxy-wide teleportation network was essentially making/taking clones and then interrogating them to learn secrets.

re: #95 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

That is shaping up to be the GOP strategy: kick over the table. Turn it into such a dumpster fire that the results are unclear or at least contestable and drag it out…

Which makes Pelosi President in January.

And she has nothing to lose since the GOP is going to call her shrill and angry anyways. One issue with the GOP playbook is that once its limitations are reached they can’t turn those attacks up to “11” since they started there.

Good start by Joe and Kamala.

That was a VERY good start. That was fucking brilliant.

Joe speaking to the promise of America and how Kamala fits the narrative, and Kamala hitting the nail with a sledgehammer and never naming the nail that she just pounded into a plank.
