re: #253 🌹UOJB!

I cringed hearing my Xtian sister screaming at me for voting for that N*CLANG Obama. I lost it, told her to go fuck herself. Never talked to her and when I was asked to fly home for her funeral I told her racist asshole husband to fuck off. And when her husband died I sent a dozen red roses because he HATED those flowers.

My wife did the same thing (minus the flowers) when her racist Presbyterian preacher brother wanted her to come home to Missouri for the funeral of another elder brother.

By that time most of her family had already disowned her for being an atheist, but that call sealed the deal for all the rest except her youngest brother.

Trump barely lost NH to HRC in 2016, but I think he’ll win this time. I’m convinced now that a majority of Trump voters where I live are not in a Trump media political bubble. Just as likely they only listen to Boston sports radio, worry about what to throw on the grill, wonder when they can switch from driving ATVs to snowmobiles. They know nothing about what is happening because covid is low here and employment has been less affected than other parts of the country. Why listen to political stuff when you already know what is right—‘making American great again, motherfucker’—and your mind is made up?

re: #220 Targetpractice

Potential irony in the making: Trump and his goon at USPS so badly fuck mail-in voting that it actually does more damage to the Repub than Dems because their elderly and rural voters can’t get their votes counted.

When I stopped our mail at the Post Office yesterday, I noted to the postmistress the slowdown in the mail impacting veterans’ prescription drugs. I pointed out that the postal union covering Des Moines sorting centre are after the Feds in court for coming in the middle of the night and taking their sorting equipment, explicitly for the suppression of mail votes. That Postmaster DeJoy is trying to raise postage rates on mailed ballots.

She said she doesn’t watch the news so she wasn’t aware of anything other than an apparent slowdown of mail and “why do I have to make things so political.” Gaa.

Some Questions for Kamala Harris About Eligibility | Opinion (Newsweek)

It started as an op-ed yesterday by the lawyer who lost to her in the AG race in California. They don’t mention that part in Newsweek. They now have a tag at the top of this steaming pile of horseshit:

Editor’s note: Some readers reacted strongly to this essay, seeing it as an attempt to ignite a racist conspiracy theory. That is entirely inaccurate, as this Note explains.

With that op-ed, one of the reporters in the Press Corpse then posed the question to Donald Trump, who then gave one of his “I’m hearing” answers.

Newsweek is the source for this, and they deserve every cancelled subscription they get.

Now on the Newsweek article at the very end is an update noting the asshat who wrote that op-ed was actually a candidate against Harris in 2010.

In the meantime, this is the very last paragraph of the article (and thus his racist thesis):

I have no doubt that this significant challenge to Harris’ constitutional eligibility to the second-highest office in the land will be dismissed out of hand as so much antiquated constitutional tripe. But the concerns about divided allegiance that led our nation’s Founders to include the “natural-born citizen” requirement for the office of president and commander-in-chief remain important; indeed, with persistent threats from Russia, China and others to our sovereignty and electoral process, those concerns are perhaps even more important today. It would be an inauspicious start for any campaign for the highest offices in the land to ignore the Constitution’s eligibility requirements; how else could we possibly expect the candidates, if elected, to honor their oaths to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and…to the best of [their] Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?”

Birtherism is a GOP construct. Therefore it includes the same IOKIYAR that every other Republican policy position has. E.g. “Let’s be deficit hawks, but not for Republican tax cuts.” Etc.

Not sure about the “expertise” , but just off the top of my head, I’d say the Israeli/UAE deal is somewhat of a positive (not much downside in better diplomatic/trade relations); OTOH, there’s a lot less than meets the eye: especially as regards the “Peace” aspect: the “price” for the Israelis is basically a (AFAICT) minimally-enforceable promise to stop annexing Palestinian territory. For now.

Though it’s no surprise the Trump gang are going to be praising this deal to the skies - even half-assed FP “wins” have been few and far between.

I’d really like to see some kind of credential, a class, experience, something. At least Abramson is an actual lawyer (to my knowledge).

I’m a person who gives great leeway to people with talent, those without a formal education. But at some point you have to have some kind of credential to say you’re an expert…X number of years of actual experience in the field, something.

That she has nothing in her own wiki entry makes it that much worse to me. There’s no THERE there.

Who owns Newsweek? Found this. No date that I can see so grain of salt but…

culteducation.com

On Saturday, news broke that IBT Media, a company that runs the online business (at least, in theory) newspaper International Business Times, had purchased Newsweek from IAC. So IBT Media now owns Newsweek. But exactly who controls IBT Media?

IBT Media’s corporate leadership site lists two cofounders: Etienne Uzac, the company’s CEO, and Johnathan Davis, its chief content officer.

But some say that the company is actually controlled by—or at least has very close undisclosed ties to—someone whose name appears nowhere on the site: David Jang, a controversial Korean Christian preacher who has been accused of calling himself “Second Coming Christ.”

Tires to the Moonies, too. Much more at the link.

If there is a general collapse of the postal system, there will be a revolt in rural America, and I am not speaking metaphorically.

Are you specifically hearing bitching about all this from rural red hats yet? My albeit limited experience with that crowd is they consistently shoot themselves in the feet when it comes to how they vote and what they support and them blame the bullet wound on someone else.

I read that vomitous Newsweak birther article, and it seems that the argument is that Kamala’s parents were on student visas not green cards so something something NOT AMERICAN!!!!

In the case of Kim Wong Ark the parents were Chinese subjects who returned to China but KWA was still able to claim birthright citizenship.

Eastman makes a bunch of argle bargle & splits every single fucking hair to return a NO vote. That is some super racist bullshit.

I am so sick of this shit. They wouldn’t do this if her parents were Europeans.

I am. Not much yet, but there is some disquiet about it. There is no loss of service here, but I expect things to hit the fan if there is. Like all MAGAts the locals don’t give a shit about anything unless it affects them personally. Needless to say, this will affect them personally.

I’m interested to see how this plays out on a state-by-state basis. Here in the wild north country, our primary was Tuesday, and I registered Mrs. Fish and I to do both our primary and general election ballots by mail at the same time. In theory, that means that as soon as the primary results are finalized and the ballots prepped, they should be on their way here.

Quite the contrary, in actual fact - after the Portland incident, people were screaming at him to stay the fuck away. Governors and mayors were setting their legal phasers to kill. I’d have paid good money to be a fly on the wall in Governor Walz’s residence when the first reports of Trump’s anti-Democratic tirade came out.

I’ve been a permanent mail voter for 6 years now. That being said, I’ve only actually “mailed” my ballot in once during that time and it was an off year with little on the ballot.

In San Diego County you can drop off the mail in ballots at the polls or do what I do, drop them off at the Registrar of Voters. They have people in the parking lot, you drive up hand them the ballot they check to make sure you signed the envelope, drop it in a bin, and hand you an “I voted” sticker.

If something like this was implemented everywhere, Tang the Incompetent’s jerking around with the USPS wouldn’t matter. Even if you had to drop it off at bins at the polls, it wouldn’t require standing around in lines for too long risking getting The ‘Vid™

Yeah. My family has deep ties to police (lots of Blue Lives Matter posts on my timeline), and they were taking advantage of our proximity to Minneapolis to trash the real BLM movement, tying it to the rioters and screaming about HOW DARE THEY THREATEN MY FAMILY (not that I spend much time downtown, let alone in that area of downtown, outside of my biannual spine exams). The breaking point was when my mom linked a FB post authored by none other than Luap Nor, talking about how we need to reopen because the coronavirus death statistics show that we’re all safe now and so the liberal hoax is powerless.

I stopped mourning my family’s descent into Christian hate years ago. The denomination didn’t matter, nor did the size of the church. I I like Biden in the race even with the clown cycle v motorcycle matchup

You have to start, steer and brake on a motorcycle. And focus on the road and the conditions along the way to the destination. Then park

The idea Trump could do any of those things without pinning himself under all that horsepower within the first minute is a laughable notion.

Multiple minutes to the election.

Biden could even crash his vehicle and walk away and walk across the line if this was an actual scenario

But since this is hypothetical, GOTV early
