May Trump’s strategy of delaying mail backfire, producing a drubbing of epic proportions. In essence, FFVCS F’s himself.

White House Insider: Trump Wanted to ‘Maim’ Immigrants

Here’s a half hour podcast with Miles Taylor, the former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security talking with Molly Jong-Fast & Rick Wilson. The quotes [from jaunte’s links] came from this interview. Miles and Rick are laughing about how awful it was to work for Trump. IOKIYR. The info in the interview is horrifying.

Trump’s going to be pissed that night one of the RNC was a ratings disaster. It’s not going to get any better. Why? Because more Trump isn’t going to save things. Everyone speaking is a member of Trumpworld and its inner circle and the lies are flying to fast and thick I worry for Daniel Dale’s personal well being.

Everything he touches dies, and the RNC and GOP are no exceptions. And this would be a justified homicide. It deserves to die for supporting the most corrupt and criminal admin in our history. They’ve shredded every rule and norm, and they’ve even done away with a platform because that’s too much hard work. Then they tried to recycle the 2016 platform, except that would apply to Trump, not Obama. He’s the one who has a record of nonstop failure, corruption, criminality, misconduct, and who ignores the rule of law about absolutely everything.

Doesn’t matter how much Guilfoyle yells. Doesn’t matter how much Jr. gets face time.

This is a Trump crime syndicate that is barred from operating a charity because they engaged in financial wrongdoing. Eric’s under investigation for wire/mail fraud, tax fraud, and other chicanery as we speak. Trump’s under investigation in NYS.

And we aren’t even getting to the unindicted coconspirator case (Cohen) or the impeachment obstruction charges, or the extortion for Ukraine, China, and other countries, or that he’s ignored the rules in choosing heads of DHS and other agencies, or that he’s purposefully interfering in the delivery of mail (again, a felony).

Multiple states are suing Trump and his know nothing hack DeJoy to prevent further damage, but that wont stop the damage already done by reducing capacity to handle mail. Trumpists love to claim that this was out of improving efficiencies, except by the USPS own metrics, they are less efficient today because they now have fewer of the machines needed to sort than they did, and that reduced capacity can’t be made up without adding workforce and people can’t sort as fast.

More than that, those sorting machines that are eventually replaced periodically get sold as surplus to foreign countries, so they have additional value. Trump’s pick wrecked them so that they have no value at all.

This is sabotage.

So my plan to save my small but remaining sanity by not watching last night’s shit extravaganza was successful. The tiny bit I have looked at is just nauseating. And dumb and mean. That’s all they got. The big question is, how many of the 40ish percent of people who support this shit will be moved to anything besides more fear, anger and lashing out at their perceived enemies? People like you and me, trying to actually survive this enduring shitshow. Stochastic Terrorism anyone?

I don’t know how this shit airs for 3 more nights and keeps an audience. And Trump speaking every night? How is that a bonus? The nominations are already official, what do they need a convention for? I hope the TV networks cut away to other shit or talk over the idiots. From what I’ve seen so far the contrast between the 2 conventions is pretty stark, and not in a good way for the GOP. Let ‘em hurt themselves, there comes a point where even complicit media won’t be able to spin any of it positively.

This is chaff. Ignore it.

Trump’s steered the ship directly into the path of the iceberg. Hit iceberg. Backed up. Hit it a few more times. And then blamed the prior captain for giving instructions on how to avoid icebergs.

The entire RNC and Trumpworld is a colossal failure, and they need to deflect with something shiny. They tried it with the redesign of the Rose Garden (which got a major revamp by Jackie. Trump’s got a garish design for AF1, which would replace the JFK design. Whereas Jackie and JFK looked at classical American styles, Melania’s touch is sterile garishness. She’s not an icon or a leader.

She’s as much a corrupt facilitator of Trumpworld as anyone else, including Trump’s spawn.

I am convinced that the thing that most influenced Trump’s initial reaction to Covid-19 was concern about the loss of revenue streams for his highly-leveraged properties.

That is why he panicked and flailed about and was unable to do anything but deny and deflect responsibility until things got out of hand.

A person of color is more likely to get stopped, detained, arrested, treated like a criminal by a cop than a white person who did the exact same thing. We see this daily. We see this in the statistics and all the studies into this across the nation.

And we see this when police engage in use of force. POC are more likely to be shot at or killed in a disproportionate number of cases.

It’s not that there are more criminals who are POC. It’s that cops treat POC as criminals and don’t give them the benefits that whites do. That’s white privilege.

The House elected in the 116th Congress has passed a bunch of progressive (and popular) initiatives, and virtually NONE of them (outside of must-pass budgetary stuff) have even gotten a hearing (still less a vote) in the Senate thanks to Moscow Mitch’s iron-fisted control of that body.
I have a number of trepidation’s about the Democratic campaign strategy this year, and not driving home the point that a non-obstructionist Senate is going to be a vital necessity if a new Administration is going to be able to get ANYTHING done is one of them high on the list.

hi

Extremely local news:

My Internet service was out, so I was playing Microsoft’s solitaire games. I called it in, CenturyLink said it wouldn’t be fixed for two days.

I then got a call from the village clerk: One of the last projects I voted for when I was on the village board is underway: Contractors are in town to replace our 1930’s sewer system; they are digging up streets and alleys for the next couple months. Keep your toilet lid closed: She already got a complaint from a villager who’s toilet backed up and exploded across his ceiling. Eww.

While playing solitaire, I noticed my Internet service came back on, because in my solitaire game I got a Joe Biden advert.

I used to watch the Tour religiously. I don’t watch it at all anymore - I got too pissed off when they tossed Sagan out. I hated seeing Cav get injured - big fan of his - but it wasn’t Peter’s fault. I suspected they were looking for an excuse to get rid of him so that there would be some excitement over the race for the green jersey, instead of Peter Sagan having it sewn up pretty early. It was bullshit and it kept Sagan from having a record for consecutive green jerseys. Fuck the Amaural Sports Organization. Shame I can’t get over it, cuz it is such a fantastic race.

Lower property tax means degraded public service quality and police living outside the community, which further depresses home values. Our system very deliberately incentivizes segregation.

“The Bullshitvik Revolution” as one FB poster called it.

Jim Bakker Warns That ‘We’re Gonna Have a Revolution’ if Trump Is Not Reelected

End Times prepper pastor Jim Bakker warned on his television show yesterday that if President Donald Trump is not reelected in November, “we’re gonna have a revolution” with right-wing Christians taking to the streets.

‘I’m scared for America. I really am,” Bakker said. “I want to warn America … we’ve got a few more days to stand up. It’s going to be too late after the election, I believe. I think if we elect the wrong people—and you see how wrong it’s been—we’re gonna have a revolution.”

“The church people are going to march in the street and realize they’ve gone too far, and we can’t let the murder of babies lead the way,” he continued. “We can’t let people burn America. We can’t let the rebellion takeover. This is not going to be a nice place to live.”

Yep. That’s been my experience. Property taxes for individual homes/condos are based on your original purchase price, with adjustments to reflect information based on overall changes in prices. You can challenge the evaluation for property tax purposes by providing the assessor with comparable home evaluations in the neighborhood. The appraiser does not come out.

No, an appraisal is used to sell a home and affects your net worth, and doesn’t affect property taxes

Well, it effects the sales price, which will effect the property tax valuation. I had this happen. After I bought a property, the city came up with a massive valuation, which I got knocked down by showing what I paid.

Same justification BS that was trotted out 200 years ago. Fear and loathing that the slaves will decide enough is enough and revolt against the degradation and bullying. And thus the excuse for having a police state with mail censorship and armed patrols to both watch the underclass and act against “outside agitators” who happen to not support the current repression.

re: #205 danarchy

My mother always went by her middle name too, but that was because all Portuguese women of that generation were named Maria (ok, not all, but an disproportionate number).
It got confusing so they pretty much all went by their middle names.

I’m reminded of my own heritage, in which my first ancestor to arrive in America came from a family in which all the brothers had the same first name and a different middle name - something to do with everybody having a religious or “Saints” name in the Rhineland “back in the day” (late 1600s).

And that doesn’t even touch on more casual culture. I work in the coastal southeast, and not very long after moving here & starting work in a law office, I formulated the Everybody’s Got Four Names theory:

- What your family calls you;
- What your friends call you;
- What they call you at the bar;
- What they call you at the DMV.

I’m not sure yet if four might be just a suggested minimum. I picked up a bar name in my first 72 hours of permanent residence in Georgia, and the rule came about when my then-boss asked me to “call Gator” (me, thinking: “Who the F is Gator??”)… Gator’s real name was that of a famous Scottish hero… And Gator was in our records system as the diminutive of his middle name…

So yeah, in short, names are not something to get in a snit about IMO.

I had completely forgotten…my mother has gone by her middle name all her life. I didn’t know her first name was “Mary” until I was 10 years old. (The day I found out, I introduced her as Mary (lastname) at the PTA. She didn’t realize I was calling her.) She grew up in a time when Mary seemed to be the first name for so many girls, and, so like many others, she went by her middle name.

When MrBWS got his birth certificate we saw that his mom’s first and middle names were reversed from what we had all grown up with. His dad insisted that MrBWS’s birth certificate was wrong. His mom had already passed, so we couldn’t ask her.

Who knows?
And, really, at this point who cares?

Actually, when she was signing the envelope for her primary ballot last month, she turned to me and said, “Does my voter registration say Mary, Pauline, or Mary Pauline?” I told her and she signed it that way.

Strappo should be translated as “Tore Up”, “Strained” or “Stressed”. Trump Festival is accurate, perhaps “worship service” would be more accurate.

Actually, the headline is “Lo strappo di Pompeo,” and it means, “Pompeo’s Breach.” The article (at least the first paragraph) is about his violating the rule that cabinet officials don’t attend party conventions.

I’ve been going by my ‘middle’ name since I was a baby. Apparently the drunk priest got the order of first and middles names wrong and then tacked on a third one when they tried to correct him. They tried to correct him again but he said “what’s done is done”.

I could tell when I really upset my mother when she used my full baptismal name.

I formulated the Everybody’s Got Four Names theory:

- What your family calls you;
- What your friends call you;
- What they call you at the bar;
- What they call you at the DMV.

I’ve got my family name, my friends name, my street name, my roommate name, my government name, my Hebrew name (only used for formal rituals) and my Yiddish name (used only by relatives old enough I’d let them pinch my cheek).
