WVU, state officials change the way COVID-19 cases are counted on campus

MORGANTOWN, w.va. (WSAZ) - The way COVID-19 cases are counted on West Virginia University’s campus is changing.

According to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, all positive COVID-19 cases among WVU students that are isolated in secure, monitored locations on campus will count as only one case for the purpose of the West Virginia DHHR map.

The university says there are 70 cases of isolation in WVU’s secure isolation facility, Arnold Apartments, as of Wednesday. There are 241 isolation-related cases total.

“Your interactions in the community are fairly minimal and they go to fairly non-existent once you move into Arnold Apartments and so when you talk about risk to the community and safety, I do believe that the folks that are in Arnold Apartments, we are taking a number of risks that reduce that spread,” said Rob Alsop, WVU vice president of Strategic Initiatives.

Students on WVU’s Morgantown campus will remain with online learning until at least Sept. 25.

This song is about as obscure as they get. Laughing Dogs were a New York band from the CBGB scene. This was the opening song on the first of two records they made and I always thought they wrote great power pop songs but got shitty production from people who couldn’t deal with their commitment to recording live in the studio.

Anyway, Get Him Out Of Town.

They are conservatives. They don’t need help. See also Margaret Thatcher.

The irony is: Margret Thatcher was actually in favour of a lot of things about the EU that the current Brexit-or-Bust!!11!ELEVENTY!!11!! Conservatives would choke on. She was very much in favour of integration between the EU states, the UK included.

Granted, she was very much against political integration or anything that would comprise any idea, real or mythical, of the UK’s sovereignty*.

However, she was fine with integration in an economic sense. Particularly if it involved market forces…

Therefore, she promoted the Single Market (And all that goes with that, including freedom of movement within the EU, movement towards a single currency based on market forces, and simplification of regulations towards an EU-based baseline.)

And most of what the EU has become in 2020 is basically what Thatcher would have supported. So, the fact that the current Conservative rabble in charge of the UK Government** are trying to destroy this says much about what they think about Thatcher and much more about what they understand about Thatcher.

To add to this, Margaret Thatcher’s support of deregulation was from an _extremely_ high level of regulation. For example, currency controls abolished by Thatcher (both current account and capital account) limited Britons to taking 65 _pounds_ out of the country on vacation, and prevented them from investing in overseas property or shares.

It’s pretty similar to how Republicans talk about how JFK was in favor of tax cuts. JFK reduced highly confiscatory marginal tax rates of greater than 90% to rates that would still be political suicide if a Democrat in the hardest (economically) left district suggested it (around 60% IIRC).

My wife is booking a motel in Westminster right now for Monday night so we can go to our service appointment Tuesday morning. (The car also requires its annual service. They are also replacing the damaged parts from this summer’s softball-sized hailstorms. This is going to be an expensive trip.)

Hide your children Tuesday as the black Smart rolls into Denver.

I understand. When my dad hit a deer on Krewstown Road it was also a doe. He was upset that the car was messed up head light and front grill. I said Dad be thankful you are okay. He agreed but was still upset. Then I asked him how many points. That is when he told me it was a doe. I said Darn you can’t even brag about the points. He chuckled.

Meanwhile, a few weeks ago, after the pool boy sex-sammich story broke, Jerry Falwell Jr. got shit-faced, fell down the stairs, was bleeding all over his tacky McMansion, and his wife had to break down the doors with a chair

The dispatcher asked whether her husband had been drinking alcohol; Becki Falwell said “yes.” When asked if he had been drinking “heavily,” she said, “I’m not going to answer that question.”

The dispatcher explained that alcohol thins the blood and could account for the excessive bleeding, and restated the question.

“The more I tell you the name, the more you’re going to understand why we’re not talking to you right now,” Becki Falwell said. Dispatch logs, obtained by HuffPost via a public records request, state that “He won’t let her take him to the hospital as he is stubborn. Caller was not forthcoming.”

But medics and emergency responders arrived at the residence later that night. A responder observed lacerations on Jerry Falwell Jr.’s face, including under his left eye, across the bridge of his nose, and above both his right and left eyes. The responder also recorded in a report that Jerry Falwell Jr. said he hit his head on a trash can, and that there was “blood in the area he indicated” as well as “empty alcohol containers.” The officer also noted “Jerry had slurred and slowed speach (sic) and would repeat things already asked.”

Early voting started in MN today. I’m going to go in person to the local election office next week. Did my down-ballot research this afternoon (judges and school board) so that I know about everyone I’m voting for. One thing I’ve learned to do is to fill in the box for candidates who are running unopposed to prevent a couple dozen whackos from hijacking an office. It seems more important to do that now.

There are nine choices for President/VP on the sample ballot. Kanye is one of them.

Just the counting of absentee ballots can take days or weeks depending upon the size of the state and the number of ballots. If the media realistically waited until every vote was counted, we wouldn’t know the actually president-elect until states officially certified the final counts in late November/early December.

“hentai” is usually translated into English as “pervert(ed)”

That covers an almost unimaginable range of territory. In the US, we generally narrow that down to the drawn/animated Japanese porn output… which is also an almost unimaginable range of territory.

You seem to have found man-fucks-cat. That’s… a start. The classic american idea of it stems from a few videos that wound up in stores in the 90s involving giant demons with lots of tentacles and a lot of rape.

If you really, really want to know (you don’t), I suggest (I can’t believe I’m writing this) looking at 4chan, particularly /a and (not if you value your sanity) /d - at least that’s free and an adblocker will probably keep you safe. Not mentally safe, but your computer.

another attempt to buy us off with other peoples money

after months of heated accusations and painstaking negotiations, the White House and the pharmaceutical industry neared agreement late last month on a plan to make good on President Trump’s longstanding promise to lower drug prices,” the New York Times reports.

“The drug companies would spend $150 billion to address out-of-pocket consumer costs and would even pick up the bulk of the co-payments that older Americans shoulder in Medicare’s prescription drug program.”

“Then the agreement collapsed. The breaking point, according to four people familiar with the discussions: Mark Meadows, Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, insisted the drug makers pay for $100 cash cards that would be mailed to seniors before November — ‘Trump Cards,’ some in the industry called them.”

Why is it so hard to find a video of Biden’s CNN town hall yesterday? CNN’s YouTube channel only has two short clips and then a bunch of videos about news coverage of the town hall. YouTube itself has a bunch of Fox videos about it at the top. It’s bullshit that it should be a challenge to find the whole town hall in one video.

Because CNN did not put it up.

The media must keep up the horserace narrative.

Another asshole Catholic installed by Trump forcing his asinine views on the Federal Election Commission…

The chairman of the Federal Election Commission thinks the November election amounts to a “spiritual war.”

In an interview with with conservative Catholic outlet Church Militant on Wednesday, FEC Chairman Trey Trainor also called the 2020 election a “battle between good and evil.”

In Religion News Service’s own interview Friday with Trainor, who’s a practicing Catholic, the FEC chairman misquoted John Adams as saying “the Constitution presupposes a Christian moral people, which means you have to have that underlying principle in order for the Constitution to function and work properly.”

Hours after U.S.-Canada border closure extended to Oct. 21, Trump says it ‘opening pretty soon’ (Reuters)

OTTAWA (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said border restrictions between Canada and the United States because of the novel coronavirus pandemic would be lifted “pretty soon”, just hours after the two countries confirmed they would remain in place until at least Oct. 21.

Sources in Washington and Ottawa this week said the measures on the border would most likely have to be rolled over until at least the end of November.

Travel by air is not restricted. For the rest of us, we’re never going to be able to go to Canada again, are we?

I imagine the GOP doesn’t understand the hell which is about to rain down upon them.

TikTok will be removed from US app stores from midnight on Sunday as Washington implements executive orders from President Donald Trump that also target WeChat, a Chinese social media app.

The US commerce department, which announced the move on Friday, stopped short of forcing Apple and Google to remove the Chinese versions of TikTok and WeChat from their app stores in China.

Wilbur Ross, US commerce secretary, said the administration had taken “significant action to combat China’s malicious collection of American citizens’ personal data” by implementing the orders.

The imminent removals come as Oracle and ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, continue talks with the administration to resolve its concerns over the video app. Any deal will also need approval from China.

Biden now MUST expand the size of the court from 9 to 15. There is no choice.

In Louisville Colorado, not far from Westminster is a BBQ joint I can say is really good.
Always grab a plate when out there. They have outdoor seating so you can contact them and see the details, or call ahead and pick it up.
Lu Lu’s BBQ Louisville Colorado
And if you cannot make it now, there is the next trip.

isn’t that diagonally across from where “Blue Parrot” used to be? I didn’t much like their sauce, but they had good meatballs and sausage.
