Well, they’re partially right, the Satanic Temple* is emblematic of left-wing and Enlightnment views. Their tenets include:
- benevolence
- justice
- individual autonomy and respecting the freedom’s of others.
- empathy
- rejecting tyrannical authority
- a reason and science based world view
I think most Americans once they think about things would agree with those tenets at least partially.
They’re also using the RFRA to try to interfere with unreasonable abortion restrictions that have no medical justification, and aren’t popular with the majority of Americans.

Republicans are going to go there but Dems need to try to keep it about the relationship between church and the state. Regardless, the confirmation hearing is going to be a shitshow, but Dems have to give it the good old college try.

And *only* seven parties running slates (Dems, Reps, Cons, Working Families, Greens, Libs and “Independence”). Oh, and an all-Democratic slate of judges: four names and the note “vote for any four”…..

According to our ABC affiliate, WSB, there were “about 300 people there, mostly black.” He was also not IN Atlanta. I see millions of $$ raised for opponents of Senate Republicans up for reelection during Judge Handmaiden’s (R - Gilead) confirmation. This is the scenario I suggested some weeks ago here - what if the US media simply chooses to pretend that Trump won, or that the outcome is in doubt simply because Republicans say it is? The major networks have learned that reality is simply what they say it is for many Americans. If they don’t say there’s a pandemic and hundreds of thousands dead, there isn’t. If they say the economy is great, it is. So what happens if they simply say that Democrats didn’t really win an election?
I agree with her outcome - the American people will ultimately agree that Democrats didn’t win, that reality isn’t real.

Yes, this is about the only positive thing I can infer from the thread I linked - that the usual both-siderist, GOPer-enabling media garbage will only succeed if enough Americans roll over and accept it (in thinking back to 2000, that was an open election which started out with a lot of disillusionment and voter apathy - hence the Ralph Nader support. A similar dynamic played out in 2016. But now? Those apathetic fence-sitters damn well know what they have to lose).

And on top of that, others on the Israeli right who have been against her “Squad” due to actions by Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib will now point to this as further proof that AOC really is hostile to Israel and to Jews.
What respect I had for her is officially toast.
And may I add, the wringing of hands over the results not being obvious right away is also grossly overplayed. There are a FEW STATES where results might not immediately be obvious, but unless they hide running tallies we’ll have good analysis by the day after.
I will say that allowing postmarks day-of-election is probably a bad design decision. Tell the mail-in voters to put it in a week before, maybe postmark by Friday before.

I don’t see anything - on her Twitter anyway - to indicate she’s actually bailed, just that she’s looking into it. Reading the threads this has spawned, I can see that Rabin has a more… varied past than the usual facile US media histories go into, and that he means very different things to people on different sides.
If she has/does bail, it’s fair to drag her. But if she got promised a “Peace Good!” event and the real arrangements on the ground are something different then ducking out rather than getting used is the right play. It seems unfair to consider her burnt on this data point.
Also, things are a little crazy right now in the US - granted she doesn’t need to run a serious campaign in her district, but we’re all off our game a bit.

They can’t emphasize daily how many lives have been lost and how many have suffered permanent damage? They can’t discuss how the pandemic itself is due to Trump’s negligence — the disease started in China but it could basically have been confined there if we had been proactive with the resources that Obama put in place before Trump dismantled them.
