Lyrics:

I hear the sound of your guitar
Comin’ in from the mystic far
The stone and the gravel in your voice
Come in my dreams and I rejoice

It’s just your ghost
Moving through the night
Your spirit filled with light
I need, need you by my side
Your love and I’m alive

I’m alive and I can feel the blood shiver in my bones
I’m alive and I’m out here on my own
I’m alive and I’m coming’ home
Yeah I’m comin’ home

The old buckskin jacket you always wore
Hangs on the back of my bedroom door
The boots and the spurs you used to ride
Click down the hall but never arrive

It’s just your ghost
Moving through the night
Your spirit filled with light
I need, need you by my side
Your love and I’m alive

I’m alive, I can feel the blood shiver in my bones
I’m alive and I’m out here on my own
I’m alive and I’m coming’ home

Your old Fender Twin from Johnny’s Music downtown
Still set on 10 to burn this house down
Count the band in then kick into overdrive
By the end of the set we leave no one alive

Ghosts runnin’ through the night
Our spirits filled with light

I need
Need you by my side
Your love and I’m alive

I shoulder your Les Paul and finger the fretboard
I make my vows to those who’ve come before
I turn up the volume, let the spirits be my guide
Meet you brother and sister on the other side

I’m alive
I can feel the blood shiver in my bones
I’m alive and I’m out here on my own
I’m alive and I’m comin’ home
Yeah I’m comin’ home

In their reality, they don’t make mistakes. They just get cheated out of winning by whatever evil opponent they’ve made up in their minds.

We can’t…literally can’t…do the thing where if there’s a normal power transition then we push this down the memory hole.

With each Republican administration, we are watching stress tests of how big the lies and the abuses of power can get. Everything they’re doing right now is a further experiment: the point is to learn how to pitch the right cultural/propagandic tone to make their abuses of power stick as much as it is to raid the cupboards bare. Trump as a manipulator and abuser actually does have one skill: pushing people with similar traits to himself to further heights of emotional arousal. He is a pornographer for a very particular, ugly nice audience that wants their bloodsport.

As always, I would compare the situation to an abusive relationship. Republicans elites are entirely apathetic to pleas for adherence to rules, let alone comity and social norms: it doesn’t matter if they’re cynics or fanatics, either way they have no incentive to give or compromise. And the tactic we’re watching now is a direct continuation of the brinkmanship they’ve pulled with spending bills: “give us what we want or we destroy everything, because we can make cause hurt much more than you, who believe in things and care for people, can bear to watch harm happen.” Trump is walking us closer to the endpoint—“if you object to things my way, you’re evil and I get to hurt you for fun” becoming full eliminationism.

Don’t forget the other thing about abusers: they’re never as successful as they are with enablers on their side. Not just the folks who agree with their evil, but the ‘well meaning’ fools who take them at their word and elide any of the dark signs around them for the sake of civility. Shouldn’t take too much to figure out who those are in this case.

Yeah, I’ve heard the history after knowing it from bootlegs. Great as Darkness was, The Promise should have been the title track. Probably cut Factory for it. End side 1 with Darkness and then side 2 with The Promise and actually have an even darker album than he shipped. Makes the The River seem downright hopeful.

We have the option to vote in-person “Absentee” (even weeks early) at the courthouse. It’s possibly the best option for safety, health, and secure delivery of the vote.

That’s what I did. They live out in a rural area and the township hall is open very rarely. Hence her preference for in-person voting.

Actually, I was just thinking this would possibly be a good opportunity to take advantage of Wisconsin’s very broad open carry law if there are any idiots there. It’s one thing to get pushy for a couple of old folks with an Asian boy; another if there is a military holster on my hip.

I don’t mind snakes, really. I like having black snakes around, and garter snakes and hog-nosed snakes are common here. But pit vipers make my skin crawl. Something about that head.

I never kill them. Nor do I “play” with a venomous snake, ever…….

This is pretty much what we can expect for the next month: The WH and DOJ trying to flood the zone with as much BS as possible in the hope that one story will take hold and swing just enough votes to throw the results into doubt.

The Ginsu bomb.

AGM-114R-9X, a nasty piece of work compared to traditional missiles, that just blow people apart and flash fry whatever is left.

424 days to be exact:

“federal judge ruled Friday that the Trump administration’s leading steward of public lands has been serving unlawfully and has blocked him from continuing in the position. U.S. District Judge Brian Morris said U.S. Bureau of Land Management acting director William Perry Pendley served unlawfully for 424 days without being confirmed to the post by the U.S. Senate,” the Associated Press reported Friday.

Good to see. Now do DHS acting director Chad Wolf. He’s been in that position unlawfully for about the same amount of time, IIRC.

re: #99 Belafon

What I’d like to see is the military brass saying, publicly and explicitly, something along the lines of, “If President Trump loses his re-election bid, there is no question whatsoever that he will leave the White House on January 20th of next year, one way or another. We have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States of America and if refuses to vacate his office as the Constitution demands, then we will, at that point, consider him - and his supporters - as ‘domestic enemies’ and act accordingly. I trust we’ve made ourselves abundantly clear.”

Now of course, Trump will lose his shit at such a blunt public statement. But it needs to be heard.
