Lori Alexander and the Brain Tumor (Goes to No Longer Quivering)

This morning I awoke to Lori’s words on her blog explaining about the tumor and what has to happen next. The brain tumor story in the past was not entirely clear, I remember talk of multiple tumors, surgeries, radiation, and her claiming that she had so much faith in God she’d stopped going in for scans. This is what I was sadly sure would happen, a return eventually because many times these things come back.

They are all so screwed

The reporters matched up the tax records with Ivanka Trump’s financial disclosures, filed when she became a White House senior adviser. They found that more than $700,000 in payments she disclosed pertaining to a consulting company were the same amount as the tax deductions for “consulting fees” on a pair of hotel projects listed on the Trump Organization’s tax records.

At the time, Ivanka Trump was a top executive at the Trump Organization, not an outside consultant. People close to Trump’s businesses “were not aware of any outside consultants who would have been paid,” the Times reported.

The reporters believe this is likely a common practice Trump has used to avoid paying taxes, and could potentially be a way to have paid his adult children without incurring gift taxes

All of this
ALL of it is “were gonna do this, let em find it and we’ll fight it forever”

Lori Alexander goes by the moniker “The Transformed Wife” (with a book of the same name). She has hundreds of thousands of followers, including Nazis and other assorted bigots she rebroadcasts.

She is a covidiot, anti-masker, anti-vaxxer, anti-government libertarian. She does not believe women should have college educations (despite going to college herself and formerly being a teacher until she figured out Christians are a better source of money), and believes women should have as many babies as physically possible. She believes girls should be married as soon as possible, preferably right after high school.

Parscale is absolutely a piece of shit, but apparently I’m too compassionate, because I do have sympathy. Mental illness - even if it is brought on by guilt over your own wicked actions - is no joke. I hope he is able to recover to a point where he can answer for his crimes, and live with the knowledge of what he has done.

Hi Lizards! A little update about me running for office….

I have to wait four years. My district is having the election for school board this year so, I have to wait. That’s ok, it gives me time to investigate and work on what I will need to do. Reading the resumes for all the current and potential candidates, I am very under qualified, lol. I’m not giving up til the door is slammed in my face.

The salary for this job as of now is 19K, so I have to assume this isn’t full time, which is fine by me. But I will be 64, so my age could be an issue. I’m also contacting other organizations that support progressive and democratic women. We shall see.

Being “just drunk” doesn’t usually get someone put on a 72 hour hold. For all we know he may be an undiagnosed alcoholic, which likely means he’s got plenty more issues he’s going to have to deal with.

I can be sympathetic to him on a human level… even if he’s a terrible person. And I hope he gets the treatment he needs, and that it makes him a better person.

WWJD. According to Mike Huckabee, cheat on his taxes. It’s a good thing for Mike that Trump is only a tax cheat and not someone with questionable email habits.

MIKE HUCKABEE (FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR): Well first of all, it’s The New York Times. I’ll tell you what I make of it, is when The New York Times says something about Donald Trump, I kind of blow it off as totally lacking in credibility. Because how many hours, I wonder, have they spent? And what are their documents for this? They don’t tell us.

But let me give you this. So what? In a big business operation like he runs, there is a good likelihood that with all of the various business losses that he had from running for president when he wasn’t overseeing his business, maybe that’s so. I don’t know. Frankly, I don’t care. I didn’t elect him to be my tax accountant. I elected him to be president, and I’m really happy with the job that he’s doing. And when The New York Times blows this horn, you know, I’ve just got a complete hearing loss for it.

This ends justifies the means bullshit gets me hot under the collar.

If he’s drinking because he’s broken, I would chalk that up to mental illness with alcohol a contributing factor. Get him mental help. The drinking is just a symptom of issues that need to be resolved. If he turns out to be mentally OK and is just an alcoholic, fine, I’d be a little tougher on him, though alcoholism is its own insidious devil.

Again, we have a woman that willingly hitched her wagon to a narcissistic abusive asshole with mental health concerns, but now the chickens have come to roost, and she’s the victim. Unlike many similar scenarios, she was able to walk out with her life instead of the classic murder/suicide ending that is all too common.

I abhor domestic violence. I do not excuse men beating women. That said, intelligent women of means better start making better choices if I’m handing out sympathy.

In re Parscale: Someone could argue Dahmer needed help too. Still a fuckin’ asshole. In Dahmer’s defense, he wasn’t a goddamned mercenary profiteer that would watch his entire country burn if it paid well enough. Parscale’s actions required the mental acuity, organizational skills, and the complete lack of empathy witnessed at Nuremberg.

There may even be enough GOP sympathy to uncharacteristically mention he had mental health issues, unlike so many that have been injured or killed while showing signs of mental stress.

No mention he wasn’t suffocated or shot because he was white in a well-to-do zip code.

FORT LAUDERDALE — Brad Parscale, former campaign manager to President Donald Trump, was in the middle of a standoff with police at his Fort Lauderdale home when unexpected help arrived: Officer Christopher Wilson, a personal friend.

If Parscale was black, there is a good chance he would be dead now.

Not to minimize the disparity of use of force against black people by police, they are killed at twice the rate of whites and that is fucking horrible and needs to be fixed, but there are over 10 million arrests in the US every year, of those about 1000 end in a police killing, of those about 250 are black and of those maybe a couple dozen are un-armed.

It is fucking tragic and police reform is necessary, they are far too ready to use force and escalate situations unnecessarily but media and social media in particular are giving an entire generation of black Americans PTSD for something that is extremely rare.

Speaker Pelosi is right. Trump’s enormous personal debt and his failure to separate his presidency from his finances leave the question open as to whether Trump got assurances from certain nominees for personal benefits in exchange for nominations.

imagine asking the nominee directly “has the president indirectly or directly, covertly or overtly, by himself or through others, negotiated, suggested, inferred, wondered, even “joked” as he is wont to do, etc. etc, “

We just had a very rare case here in the UK where a police officer was shot dead by a suspect. In that case the suspect had been arrested, handcuffed behind his back and transported to a police custody centre in Croydon. He managed to pull a gun from somewhere, shoot the officer and then himself according to press reports.

I agree, but I think the jury’s still out on whether Parscale is actually mentally ill. I think it’s more likely he was just drunk.

As a DV survivor, Parscale’s behavior sounds a lot like an abuser who’s hit that moment where they feel so vulnerable they can’t figure out the precise mix of self-medicating plus power-control harm to inflict on other people to regain equilibrium.

It’s a anxiety-driven breakdown in the same way that serial killers get depressed when they can’t serial kill.

Their reaction is entirely justified. The killings by police are the highest profile, but the use of the police against blacks to subjugate them is clearly documented.

Edit: To be clear, I’m calling out the PTSD part. They have been overly targeted in way too many ways, from traffic stops that no whites would be stopped for, to far stricter courts, to unnecessary killing with no punishment for the police unless the bullets come close to white people. If it happened like this to white people, there would be complete police reform, not going after their concern about being a target.

i have no problem with rich people trying to pay as little as possible
finding every legitimate deduction, etc - that’s tax avoidance and totally legal

if you ‘don’t pay what you owe’, it means one of two things
- you have a tax debt you didnt pay - you’re a deadbeat

- your tax returns unreasonably arrived at too little tax - that’s tax evasion and illegal
and what trump did. took positions that were way too aggressive and not at all reasonable or liable to hold up under scrutiny. his hope was they would never be questioned in the first place (ie - obviously speeding and didnt get stopped. “I got away with it”)

the first guy is playing the system assertively.
the second and third are different forms of theft from the rest of us.

So I think this statement is well-intended and I agree with its objection to the post it responds to, but…

It *is* PTSD *and* it is entirely justified. Long-term trauma isn’t just about the specific instance of trauma, but about the way the traumatized person has to constantly brace because they anticipate further direct trauma. Which is very much the position blacks are in: not just coping with the things they, each as individuals, have suffered, but the gestalt picture of what they have to anticipate experienced when they look at how there is a pattern of random encounters that turn frightening, violent, and even deadly.

i kind of get the sense that if the Dems do sweep the table, that many of the Dems in the Senate are far less collegial than Ms. Feinstein and we may see boatload of special prosecutors being asked to trace the failures in vetting Mr. Trump, his administration and dare I say it, those in the GOP and the Press that were paid off and colluded with him to hide the truth and commit crimes.

as they not only follow the money, they find out who was talking to whom and what was being said.

I suspect that the fallout from this administration will be echoing for quite some time.

Chuck has been in the Senate since 1981. He knows why.

The IRS has never been a popular cause on Capitol Hill. But Democrats and Republicans long shared a grudging consensus that the agency’s basic work of tax collection deserved protection.

That changed when the Republican Party came into power in 1994 and Newt Gingrich became the speaker of the House. The new majority’s main priority was tax cuts, and vilifying the IRS helped its case. Some conservatives favored a “fair tax,” a consumption tax based on purchases. Proponents said that this simplified approach to taxation would allow them to “abolish” the IRS. ProPublica

Here’s an insane story in which there’s absolutely no one good to root for:

(Rich) Florida Man, goes to an insanely expensive restaurant. He gets two GOLD COATED STEAKS (which are actually on the menu) and doesn’t think anything wrong of it until it comes time to pay the bill and sees he’s been charged $2000 a pop for the gold version of the steaks when he insists he actually ordered the NON gold version.

Love this quote:

In his Yelp review, in which he refers to the Salt Bae as a “communist loving, piece of crap,” Miranda said he believes the waiter was trying to take advantage of the situation

He describes getting charged for an expensive meal “communist”?

Got a Bosch; loved the goddam thing until we sold our house. So quiet they install a little red light that shines a dot on the floor while it’s running.

Also, the racks *just fit correctly.* You don’t realize what a PITA that is until you regress to a Samsung or LG. Wrestling those damn things in and our to make room for tall stuff like wineglasses or big pans is Not. Fun.

debate lines for biden, gleaned from hither and yon:

- Donald, my son was called to duty in the Army, yours is being called by the New York attorney general to testify

- I don’t think the American people want to listen to us going after each other’s family. So how about instead we talk about the issues that matter to families across the country?

- you know what, you bring up a good point—corruption and conflicts of interest are real problems. It’s true. And a new report from the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington looked at your administration and found 3,400 conflicts of interest. Actually those were just the ones involving you, personally; not the rest of the administration…” That’s why I pledge to make sure the government’s ethics watchdogs are strong and independent…”

he could state early that he will hold up his index finger every time Trump lies. That would be the signing equivalent of Reagan’s “there you go again”, would allow Biden to interrupt wordlessly, and would goad Trump beyond endurance. though it would probably be exhausting

Or he could quickly interject each time he speaks “the president’s nose is now xxx inches long’ then answer the question.

he could chuckle and sadly shake his head saying, “Donald you’re acting like a child again instead of the leader of the free world.

otoh, without getting into the mud in the gutter, Biden has a real chance to totally dominate the uncommitted voters by reminding them what a real President looks like

But before we had the Covid test results, a very conservative church friend of ours who is also a nurse contacted my wife to let us know that if it was Covid, she could easily get us a supply of HCQ.

If you use a lot of bowls that are even moderately deep, you might want to take one along when you look at dishwashers. We ruled out the Bosch when we bought our dishwasher because it was really hard to fit our bowls in. My brother has a Bosch and while they like it, they run it relatively empty daily (just 2 people in the household) because they have to put the bowls in the top rack along with glasses and other things that aren’t plates.

Ex-Director Of Refugees Brags About Forcing Teens To Give Birth Against Their Will (Wonkette)

Scott Lloyd has an article in The Federalist with suggestions on how the Trump maladministration can keep getting around the law on this.

You all remember Scott Lloyd, right? The anti-choice fanatic lawyer who was the director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement despite having absolutely no experience in that area? The guy who was part of the stellar team that oversaw the separation of children from their parents? The guy who believes no one should be able to have an abortion because his ex-girlfriend got one and he’s still mad about it? The guy who held a teen girl hostage in order to prevent her from having an abortion? The guy who forced another teen girl into an emergency room because she had taken an abortion pill and he wanted to make them reverse it? The guy who kept a freaking database of when all of the teenage girls he oversaw were menstruating and wouldn’t let them see actual doctors but instead forced them to go to crisis pregnancy centers where they got propaganda and ultrasounds and personal pleas from Scott Lloyd about the evils of abortion?

There Are Fundamental Questions Amy Coney Barrett Needs to Answer by Charles Pierce

It is not “anti-Catholic” in any way to wonder if her religious affiliation is part of the basis through which the judge decides cases in secular law.
It is not “anti-Catholic” in any way to wonder if Barrett’s religious affiliation is part of the basis through which she decides cases in secular law. She should be asked about that, and she should be pressed if she tap-dances around it, and she should be ready and willing to answer straight on it anyway. For example, I’m anxious to hear her explanation for this passage from a 2006 commencement address that she gave to the graduating class at Notre Dame law school.

So what then, does it mean to be a different kind of lawyer? The implications of our Catholic mission for your legal education are many, and don’t worry—I’m not going to explore them all in this short speech. I’m just going to identify one way in which I hope that you, as graduates of Notre Dame, will fulfill the promise of being a different kind of lawyer. And that is this: that you will always keep in mind that your legal career is but a means to an end, and as Father Jenkins told you this morning, that end is building the kingdom of God. You know the same law, are charged with maintaining the same ethical standards, and will be entering the same kinds of legal jobs as your peers across the country. But if you can keep in mind that your fundamental purpose in life is not to be a lawyer, but to know, love, and serve God, you truly will be a different kind of lawyer.

RE: Our good friend James O’Keefe and Project Veritas, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is having none of their shit.

“Anyone with legitimate information about any possible violation of Minnesota elections law should present it to the proper authority, just as I would do,” Ellison said in a statement. “Project Veritas, a highly partisan outfit with a history of running cons, founded by someone who pled guilty to a serious federal crime, is not a trustworthy source. The timing of their allegations — within weeks of the election, and on the same day the New York Times published a carefully sourced story on the President’s failure to pay taxes — should cause all Minnesotans to be highly skeptical.”

Last week, The Atlantic’s Barton Gellman reported that, in Pennsylvania, “three Republican leaders told me they had already discussed the direct appointment of electors among themselves, and one said he had discussed it with Trump’s national campaign.” What does that mean?

Mitch is in control regardless of anything Donny wants to do. In no way is it possible that Trump actually know these judges, or even what he is supposed to do. Trump’s goal is to keep working the religious right, so all Trump has to do is “nominate” whatever name the GOP machine in the Senate suggests to him.

The strangest part of the judicial nominations during Trump’s term (at least for me, as someone who used to run in those circles) is how many of the nominees were just not qualified. There are plenty of competent conservative lawyers out there who have actually handled a sufficient number of cases to be well qualified.

Non-competent nominees can be told what to do in the service of conservatism rather than the Constitution. Competent nominees can think for themselves.

Thinking for yourself is antithetical to conservative religious belief.

Trump has to find judges that he can know will do his bidding. Many “conservative” judges may not be the favorite by the usual suspects in the religious-right propaganda machine in DC (who are propping up Trump) because said judges may be less willing to do Trump’s bidding.

I think this is why we see the number of long-time self-declared conservatives be never-Trumpers. They know that Trump’s only use of them has nothing to do with their beliefs but only to do with how willing they would be to do Trump’s will.

It is a bit amazing that so many Americans who love to call themselves “conservative” cannot bring themselves to this reckoning also. So many hare deeply, deeply bought into an identity by which they close off any critical thought.

What to Do If a Family Member Steals Your Identity (Money Crashers)

Use of a Minor’s Identity: People under the age of 18 can’t get credit cards, obtain loans, or any other form of credit. But, it isn’t uncommon for parents or relatives to use the personal information of a child or relative to open new accounts. In many situations, a child whose identity is stolen doesn’t learn of the theft until they are old enough to apply for credit on their own, only to discover their credit is ruined.

When we finally get back to some stability, there needs to be a job retraining initiative including skilled trades and alternative energy jobs. Coal is a finite resource, we’re way behind the rest of the world on this stuff.

That’s something Biden has been talking about. You’re absolutely right. We’re well behind on this. It’s a shame too because in the past we would be leaders on this.

An interesting segment on MSNBC about how Trump is going to be a security threat to the US for the rest of his life if he remains in debt. Security officials are worried that he’ll just start selling everything he knows about US security to whoever will pay him for it, and he may not feel any reason to ever stop selling.

Vice President Mike Pence to make campaign stop in Carter Lake this week (Omaha World-Herald)

Carter Lake is an exclave of Iowa, surrounded on three sides by Omaha, Nebraska, and the fourth by the Missouri River. It was stranded on our side of the river when the river changed course, causing a huge series of court fights between Nebraska and Iowa.

Carter Lake has a population of 3,785.

The City of Carter Lake causes confusion to tourists who fly into Eppley Airfield (Omaha’s airport) and rent a car, because when they leave the airport property they are greeted by “Welcome to Iowa” signs on Abbot Road. Nebraska does not have a sign a few yards later saying “Welcome to Nebraska.”

Of the many things to be worried about, this is not one. He is a stupid man who never reads anything, much less a security briefing. Also, he cannot help but lie and exaggerate. Selling ‘everything he knows’ would be more worthless to whoever is buying than ignorance.

And how much would he even actually be able to coherently describe? He doesn’t understand how insurance works, how government works and a lot more. I’m more worried about the evil behind the evil, the ones who are more evil than stupid, the ones who don’t have the proper security clearances.

Well, it wouldn’t be the first time they heard it, either: I recall that four years ago, Hillary Clinton went to WV and told miners straight up that coal was - at best - going to be a slowly-declining industry, and that the government - in order to at least TRY to mitigate the negative economic impact - ought to get involved in that “retraining” and “alternative jobs” stuff in a big way. And what it got her was the state voting 68.5% for Trump: way preferring- and swallowing - his spread-eagle bluster about “bringing back coal” and getting them smokestacks belching again because that what was they wanted to hear. And because he was (as always) quick to find Somebody Else to blame…

Did you send in your ballot-harvesting application to the Soros International Conspiracy on time? I heard they’re really strict about postmarks.

The Hillary hate and misogyny was mostly at fault for that one. You develop the program, fund it, implement it and let it work. I wouldn’t even make a huge deal of it til it began working. People in Appalachia have been used as props and ignored for decades. A lot of this is fear. There’s a trail of broken promises and poverty that has to be overcome. You hit up the high school seniors for some of this, they see the devastation and have directly suffered the consequences. It’s a huge hill to climb but not impossible.
