I mentioned a while back that the reason Trump froze like a deer in the headlights over Covid and why he was so big on playing down the risk and getting the economy going back again was fear of the loss of revenue streams from his heavily-leveraged properties.

His tax returns seem to bear that out.

In news close to home: Fishspawns’ school district gave me a heart attack this morning, with an email titled: COVID-19 Communication. Yeah, that’s right, someone in the school system tested positive. They said that no staff or students had been exposed and the individual was already self-quarantining, but there’s always that moment of soul-rending panic when you are terrified that you and your kids are about to become statistics.

Was last night the first time that Daniel Cameron admitted that he recommended only charges of wanton endangerment to the grand jury in the Breonna Taylor case? That certainly clarifies that he was responsible for the minimal charges brought against the officers. Why do I think of him as similar to the Samuel Jackson character in “Django Unchained”, with Mitch McConnell as Calvin Candie?

According to CNN, a grand juror has suggested the Kentucky attorney general may have misrepresented to the public the case presented to the panel, a lawyer for the juror said Tuesday. It does appear that the Cameron will be releasing a recording of the grand jury presentation, but it’s not clear to me, at least, whether that recording will be available to the public.

There isn’t any. These “donation” checks are written to the departments they’re allegedly going to. The problem is that when you write a check to the government, you write it to the Treasury not the whatever agency. I guarantee you it’s going to come out that this has been just another one of his lies.

If there’s even proof that he wrote out checks to the Treasury, it would be surprising. Not that it’s sufficient to take account of all the additional revenue he, his companies, and his cronies are taking from just the US government.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian predicted that Biden would take “the old meat-ax” to Ryan — a beating so one-sided that “the humane society” would have to be called in.

re: #152 Shiplord Kirel: Fan of USPS, Goodyear, and Oreo

Obnoxious Parrot (Re-post from a couple of years ago):

David received a parrot for his birthday. This parrot was fully grown with a bad attitude and worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. Those that weren’t expletives were, to say the least, rude.

David tried hard to change the bird’s attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, and anything else that came to mind. Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird and the bird got worse. He shook the bird and the bird got madder and ruder.

Finally, in a moment of desperation, David put the parrot in the freezer. For a few moments he heard the bird squawking, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, all was quiet.

David, frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird, quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto David’s extended arm and said, “I’m sorry that I offended you with my language and actions. I ask for your forgiveness.”

David was astounded at the bird’s change in attitude and was about to ask what changed him when the parrot continued, “May I ask what the chicken did?”

The sons got together and decided to give their mother a surprise for her birthday. They found the perfect gift: a parrot that spoke Yiddish! Wanting to please their mother, they purchased the bird for an exorbitant sum and presented it to her at a birthday party.

A few days later, the oldest son went over to see how Mom was enjoying her new pet. As usual, the house was full of the wonderful aroma of cooking. When Mom answered the door, he asked her “how do you like the parrot we got you?”

“Oh, it should be done now. Do you want to stay for dinner?”

The key point, using Alabama as a sample, is that each party or candidate gets to assign ONE poll watcher per polling place, by letter to the chief. The poll watchers are sworn in.

At some point in history, there must have been a president who would need to wear hearing aids to function in a debate setting. Would that be too controversial to permit - especially since most hearing aids have bluetooth compatibility now? Would everyone just have to talk very loudly to the candidate?
