And Now, a Greg Howe Shredfest, Featuring Kael Wu and Ernest Tibbs: “Tilt” Remake 2020

When my buddy Kael Wu (winner of the 2018 Ibanez flying fingers guitar competition) proposed that we remake my song ‘Tilt’ off the classic collaboration album of the same title with Richie Kotzen, I thought “why not…it’s 2020 and we’re all sitting around not touring.”
So, here is the remake with a brand-new set of outstanding players and Kael Wu taking the role originally occupied by Richie on the 1995 Shrapnel Records version. Enjoy!

I’m shocked, SHOCKED, that the so-called Hunter Biden dossier is such a deep fake bulkshit that it never passed the smell test from the WSJ and even those at the NY Post who aren’t full metal Trumpers.

Biden should absolutely prosecute every last motherfucking one involved in this nonsense from Trump on down. Rudy and all the rest who are accessories to felony conduct.

They knew, and didn’t care.

Come January, the DOJ is going to have a very busy schedule in the SDNY going after Trump associates and resuming the cases that Trump and Barr actively thwarted and interfered in (which should also result in prosecution of Barr for accessory/conspiracy and interfering in federal investigations on a purely partisan basis).

The Biden crime family: insidious enough to snatch parcels from UPS AND impact the editorial policies of The Intercept and the Tucker Carlson Show, but at the same time dumb enough to leave a laptop full of incriminating evidence in a “repair shop”.

It’s the core cognitive dissonance behind any good conspiracy theory: Some group of people, somewhere, is simultaneously hyper-competent and dumb as the Trumps.

Looking forward to how QAnon explains Trump’s term ending without the promised arrests and executions is all part of the plan.

I haven’t seen anyone on the right disavow any of the Hunter stuff as fake. I am sure Tucker will continue to pimp that shit right through to the election. All he did was said he wouldn’t air anything of purely prurient interest on Hunter if it didn’t relate directly to Joe. It is a typical Tucker move to try to prove his moral rectitude.

Trump told Biden that he would make it appear that Joe won and was President so Trump could go into the “deep cover closing stage” of the operation. When Trump springs the trap all the bad men go to the firing squad Joe will give the White House back to Donald…..after a big military parade…

The guy behind the counter wasn’t wearing his mask over his nose so I asked him to please cover his nose while he weighed and wrapped my order. I got a non-stop rant from him about how the store’s mask policy allowed people to not wear masks if they had medical conditions or otherwise strongly objected to the mask policy. He got kind of wound up about it and was constantly touching and adjusting his mask while he was processing my order. I was pissed off but just kind of went along and apologized just to get him to shut up and focus on getting my goddamned order done while wearing the goddamned mask over his nose for two fucking minutes. I should have refused to take the food but I do shop in that store a lot and it’s the first time I’ve had trouble there. Fuck that clerk though.

I’d have taken the package to the manager, handed it to him saying it’s contaminated, told him the medial excuse is legal horseshit and that my business would be elsewhere since they can’t do what is right. Especially if it was a place I shopped at a lot and was known.

With 5 days left to vote, MN republicans have gotten the federal courts to order that all votes that come in post election day shall be held separately from the other ballots. I was hoping that this kind of crap wouldn’t happen in MN. Earlier today, I donated some money to the MN DFL. Looks like they’re going to use it for a FAST voter information drive. People who dropped their ballots in the mail this week may be so screwed.

A federal court sided Thursday with a GOP challenge to Minnesota’s extended deadline for receiving absentee ballots after Election Day, imperiling a state rule that would count mail-in ballots received up to a week after Tuesday’s election.

In a 2-1 decision, a panel of Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judges ordered that all mail-in ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day be set aside, setting the stage for a potential legal battle after the election. But the order stopped short of a final determination on the validity of the post-Election Day ballots.

Thing that really makes the story is that people were incredulous yesterday at the idea that he would have sent paper documents or audio/visual evidence through a postal carrier rather than having it sent via courier. That’s really the point to the whole story now: The fact that it was a thumb drive they (supposedly) sent in the mail means that either they received the “bombshell evidence” in digital form or that they took the time to scan it to a digital format and upload such to the drive. Which means they’re either admitting that they did send their only copy of said “evidence” in the mail or that they had copies they could have easily had transmitted digitally in time for the story…and instead decided “OUR PACKAGE WAS STOLEN!” was the bigger story.

No offense to her, but you really have to work to see similarities between 2016 and now. You basically have to dream up fantastical visions of Trump and his army of willing henchmen managing to pull off a coup without being caught or so blatantly violating the law that there’s no way the public would ever accept his win as legitimate.

And if SCOTUS repeats their role from 2000 but on a much grander scale? It doesn’t matter if more than half the public doesn’t share that view. The Supremes rule, and what options do we have? Now, if the numbers are overwhelming on Tuesday night, it’s unlikely they will intervene. But what if victory depends on mail-in votes not counted until after Tuesday night? Especially when those same votes could replace GOP Senators? How may Republicans in Washington will stand up for what’s right? The number is 0.

The biggest issue with this is that BvG involved a recount, while the worry we’ve seen expressed virtually everywhere is that Trump is going to somehow get the USSC bench to stop counting ballots in certain states while insisting upon counting continuing in others. Even if the USSC bench did so totally violate decades of existing jurisprudence and precedent to declare states should immediately stop counting, they have no real enforcement mechanism and thus states could flip them off and continue the counting.

So far, the score on court challenges by the Trump/GOP have been a mixed bag with more losses than wins. The courts don’t seem to be uniformly buying into this idea that the threat of “fraud” is so enormous that they simply cannot allow mail ballots to be accepted or counted.

Let me put it this way: The only scenario where it’s realistic that Trump could win via court challenges requires three things to happen:

- Biden failing to secure 270+ votes outright, whether through in-person votes or a combination of in-person and mail ballot votes received before Election Night

- Enough ballots in doubt to swing enough EC votes to secure Trump a win

- State court judges willing to ignore the dirt and grime covering the hands of Trump and the GOP to rule that their challenges to the counting of mail ballots are brought in good faith

Depends on sandwich content since the narrow parts of a diagonal cut might affect the ability to hold the filling well; e.g. a tuna salad or egg salad sandwich I’d probably straight cut due to this factor.

Toast with fried or poached eggs should always be diagonal cut to facilitate dipping toast into the yolk.

Not that I think he’ll actually have a concession speech, mind you. I think he’ll take to Twitter and have a meltdown about how unfair this all is to him, yada, yada, yada. And just my two cents, but I’d be genuinely shocked if he showed up at the inauguration - he’ll probably be holed up at Mar-a-Lago, shouting at the TV in impotent rage.

I think he’s already said he wasn’t going to the inauguration, should Biden win.

I’m fine with that. I hit my fill of his ridiculous clown mug about 4 years ago.

All that matters is that Trump and the fucking fascist GOPers are booted from office in such a resounding clarion call that there’s no doubt anywhere.

And I want Trumpists to know that their criminality will not be overlooked after January 20, 2021. They will face investigations and prosecution for their crimes, the coverup of crimes, and the effort will be to undo all the damage the GOP has inflicted on the nation.

Geez, Idaho. Get your shit together already.

Idaho Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin and 10 Republican state legislators (or legislators to be) appeared in a video earlier this week in which they seemed to openly question the existence of the coronavirus pandemic while also insisting they would follow no state or local emergency orders relating to the fight against Covid-19.

“The fact that a pandemic may or may not be occurring changes nothing about the meaning or intent of state’s constitution and the preservation of our inalienable rights,” says Karey Hanks, who is running unopposed for a state House seat, in the video.
McGeachin, who has repeatedly clashed with Republican Gov. Brad Little over what she believes to be his onerous response to the pandemic, is featured in the video holding a Bible — and then placing a gun on said Bible — as she reads from the state’s Constitution.

Morning all:

Before I segue off into idle time-wasting deep commenting here, I have an OT technical question I thought I’d toss out to the Lizardim:

Is there anything I can do to ease/obviate/fix the problems I have loading LGF on my iPad (8 Gen, iOS 14.1)? Getting the site to properly load and react is a chronic issue: it sometimes doesn’t load at all, often only loads partway and freezes, often won’t “jump to bottom”, VERY often crashes.
* LGF only misbehaves on my iPad.
*I have NO problem with ANY other blogsite/app on my iPad.
* It does not appear to be a router/wireless issue (LGF frequently crashes when I am literally standing in front of the router).
* It sometimes seems to be worse of a problem when the comment thread is very long (??200+??)
* Sometimes it loads and behaves just fine.

Any hints? Tx.

Replace ‘christians’ with humans. Religious beliefs do not correlate with stronger morals or more integrity. Religious beliefs shouldn’t be placed on a pedestal as a thing to admire.

Keep on saying this but Trump as an incumbent is a different animal than Trump the challenger. Trump has a record that he has to defend now and he’s done a terrible job defending it.

Kinda hard to tell at this point. In my semi-asleep state I associated the noise and the rumbling with something that is familiar to my experience, which does not include freaking EARTHQUAKES.

re: #319 Jay C

Any hints? Tx.

I mostly have problems with the iphone, not the ipad. But when the thread gets too long, I have found that (using firefox) I can turn off images, load the page completely — you know it’s loaded when you can use the “jump to bottom” button — and then turn images back on. When I do that, I get everything back except for actual pictures. And if I want to see a picture, I can reload an individual post.

I was in NYC when the VA quake hit in 2011. I felt my office shake and heard a boom, thinking that there was a construction load that dropped, since I was adjacent to the WTC complex and Fulton St projects.

Nope. It was the VA quake. It was only a 5.8 (which isn’t much for those in typical quake country, but weird as fuck in these parts) We felt it here in the NYC metro area despite it being 100s of miles away.

I was in a hotel room on the 3rd floor watching an entertainment center (with a TV) repeatedly bounce a couple of feet off the wall. It seemed to go on for 5 minutes (likely was less than a minute). 5.8. And then there were aftershocks.

I’d never been so scared in my life. Two hours it went on including the big aftershocks. I had PTSD for months afterwards.

Actually, 5.8 is pretty significant, even in earthquake country, although good building codes mean we usually get the earth-shattering kaboom without the shattering.

Anything above about five is notable.

Anyone have any good data on ICU utilization rates at state level? Data I’m seeing is stale, thanks to Trumpworld making it hard to gather the information as they were doing before July.

What are they hiding? Oh yeah - hospitals reaching the breaking point. Wisconsin warns they’re 2-4 weeks from maxing out their ICUs and other states are seeing localized issues with their ICUs.

This was avoidable. This was preventable.

We don’t have a national standard/policy. We have a bunch of know nothing GOPers undermining actual health experts, and we’re seeing the consequences on a daily basis.

I’ve been catless for about 15 months. I wish I had one now but it just hasn’t felt like a good time to get one yet. I was going to wait until I moved but that’s not coming up as fast as I thought it might.

I was going to wait a couple days until I start using the lunchmeat. Found conflicting info on Goggle about it (imagine that) but it looks like I’m OK as long as I eat it rather than inhaling it.

I’ve been trying to convince the local dumpster gal (cat gal) that she can hang out in my apartment, especially when it is raining, but no luck. It was especially traumatic for her when she came in while I wasn’t aware of it, only to have the front door swing mostly closed behind her. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out what the odd “Mewr, mewr, mewr” sound was, but it turned out that’s the sound a cat makes when it’s having a full-blown anxiety attack.

More people have died from Covid than they died in 9/11 and Pearl Harbor since Trump appeared bragging that he felt better than he had in 20 years and that “You shouldn’t let Covid dominate you.” It astounds me that so many people in this country who have wanted to use 9/11 to tell everyone to shut up about this or that have no problem with the worst loss of American life since the Civil War. And we also need to talk about the survivors who are experiencing their own ordeal too. When this is over, we’re going to need a memorial to the victims of the virus. We’ll probably never know all their names but they need to be memorialized. WIngers claim that we need to remember our history. I agree. Let’s remember Covid and the hell of these past 7 months.

ICU data I’ve seen is available state-by-state. Indiana has a relatively good visualization if you scroll down the page far enough: coronavirus.in.gov

Not all states publish meaningful numbers - the NE data I looked up after a conversation here looks nice but isn’t really helpful.

Some key states are missing data, like FL. There’s also a lack of national data, which is what Trumpworld wanted suppressed (not reducing cases by prevention, but by minimizing the pandemic by limiting testing/resources/counting).

when biden takes over and hopefully straightens out the data quickly, trump will claim he and ended the pandemic and it re-exploded under biden

re: #184 Hecuba’s daughter

And if SCOTUS repeats their role from 2000 but on a much grander scale? It doesn’t matter if more than half the public doesn’t share that view. The Supremes rule, and what options do we have? Now, if the numbers are overwhelming on Tuesday night, it’s unlikely they will intervene. But what if victory depends on mail-in votes not counted until after Tuesday night? Especially when those same votes could replace GOP Senators? How may Republicans in Washington will stand up for what’s right? The number is 0.

“what options do we have?”

If he isn’t in a situation where he can declare victory on election night via refusing to acknowledge the uncounted ballots the odds of it improving enough that he can declare victory later on are rather slim, so he can be sour about his defeat all the way up to the point that the Secret Service escorts him out to make way for President Biden.

I’m not afraid of him refusing to concede, that’s “drawing dead” to use a poker term.

Unlikely but possible endings:
1. Trump tries to salvage his reputation, graciously concedes defeat, and cooperates with the transition (Odds: @ same as me being elected Pope, but still not impossible).
2. He goes full Hitler-bunker, blames his base, denounces them as weak and unworthy in a final rant and shoots himself on live TV (Odds: Much more likely than #1, but the Secret Service will be prepared to intervene).

Any hints? Tx.

yeah, i have the same issue. i’ve stopped trying to access the site on my older ipad (2014) because typically, 5 or 6 comments will load, and then the site bricks.

1918 Spanish flu claimed 675,000 American lives from 1918-1920. We could match or surpass that number over a 2-year period.

People miss that when talking about this election. For one, people in key states did not like Clinton, 2 there was ratfuckery and foreign interference, 3 there were 3rd party candidates. This year, most of that is just outlying noise.

I have a friend who is canvassing for biden in AZ, in a conservative county, most there are not voting for trump but the libertarian according to him. If anything 3rd parties may hurt trump this time around (of course this is purely annecdotal).

Also btw, my comparison site - for iPad functions - is Daily Kos. It’s every bit as complex a site as LGF (if not more so), and I never have any of the loading issues on my tablet that I have here. Strange.

Let’s just game this out a little bit.

To “steal the election by stopping the counting”, Trump would have to basically get every counting location in the country to stop counting at the right moment where he was in the lead in enough places.

This is HARD. The totals that the states post necessarily lag the actual county/district-level counting. The low level info that is posted will have a variety of lags behind the actual machine counting. So either they do like a screencap of 50000 sources all at once - which would be utterly crazy to try to validate afterwards - or they expect that a decree by the president to stop the counting will be obeyed everywhere. Which is silly.

So they’d have to push pre-election guidance to all counting locations to stop counting “at midnight eastern” or at least to preserve the numbers at that moment. But they don’t know that they’ll be ahead at that specific time. And a directive like that would get laughed at in most places anyway, so to get compliance they’d have to be adjudicating that… well, probably last YEAR, but it would certainly need to be in the courts by now.

So… they take their very non-scientific snapshot at 22:18 or whenever, Trump goes out to the podium to say “this proves I won”, and everyone except OANN and RT say “but what about THESE votes” which were submitted in court-approved fashion and are being counted by the utterly standard counting process and will eventually be certified by the state govs/SoS. Which results in at least 50 court cases, most of which would be utterly unwinnable because local office holders will want all the votes counted, and so the pushback will be impossible for him.

All the major networks will push back - even FOX - because it will be a hideous violation of norms. The SC may be weighted the wrong way, but what we’ve seen so far is that there are not five votes for absolute cronyism, and meaningful cases have to traverse the system to get there, so a “real” result will be obvious (NO, it won’t take two weeks unless it’s super close anyway and that’s a different sort of battle) well before it gets there.

Now, the one way this could work is if the election comes down to one or two states that are counting well into the week, say PA (as that’s the most likely). A targeted court case to force that counting to stop could happen. Still would be a big fight, and there are a lot of ways it could play out. Remember that FL 2000 came down to stopping a RECOUNT - there was a certified result from the state, and in PA it’s Dems who are going to do that cert. I can’t believe that courts would stop an initial count completely - they might force an interim total but probably all ballots would be counted. So if the slate of electors gets cert by the governor, how does even a corrupt SC force him to change it?

Anyway, this doesn’t stop Trump from making a mess of it. But if he really wanted to “stop the counting” in an enforcable way, we’d have to know by now.

Extremely local news:

BRAD STAMAN: My vote will go to … (Scottsbluff, Nebr. Star-Herald senior editor’s endorsement of Donald Trump for the election)

So I have a message on my answering machine this morning.

In the comments section I tore apart the editor for his endorsement of Trump due to his “Christian values.”

I am in the telephone directory, so it’s not hard to leave me a message, and my comment at the newspaper is under my real name.

The message was from a man who did not identify himself, other than as an atheist who lives in the Nebraska Panhandle. He said he lives in fear of the Christians here, because of all the violent rhetoric which comes from all denominations.

He said he felt inspired that I would stand up and openly declare I stand against Christian values which can rationalise the election of someone as amoral as Donald Trump. He called me an “inspiration” on the message (note: I am not an inspiration) and hoped that my letters in the paper have helped other atheists here feel they are not alone.

A FB FOAF described Trump as the “imperfect vessel” who he supports because he likes his policies. They may not like his personal immorality nor his grifting nor his bullying, but they do like his policies on a whole range of issues, both foreign and domestic. They don’t care about the personal behavior of an official, no matter how heinous or illegal, if the policies comport with their views.
