Yeah, tell that to my friend Steve stuck in Missouri denied any assistance for the insulin he needs and he’s being billed at $1,400 a vial…oh and his Medicare “D” plan only covers $100…He contacted manufacturers for assistance in paying for the insulin and they told him, “Sorry our assistance program is at maximum capacity right now”…he wishes he could ask for asylum in Canada…

The office issued a correction, reversing an earlier announcement that had declared the certification was complete. Raffensperger said he expects certification to be completed later Friday.

Nothing Will Stop the Project of Stuffing the Federal Judiciary With Unqualified Wingnut Hacks, by Charlie Pierce

Read this for Mizelle’s resume, which is larded with right wing nuttery, and her husband, who is:

second-in-command to the scofflaw Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, and hubby’s primary qualification for his job is the fact that he apparently is one of the few friends that immigration Gauleiter Stephen Miller has on planet Earth.

I mention all this because Republican senators Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, and my old pal Joni Ernst were being lauded this morning for “criticizing” the president’s mad-king attempt to steal the recent election. All three of them voted to put this lemon on the bench for the rest of her natural life. Faith without works is dead, St. James warns us.

I’ve been saying this from the moment that Trump was named as an unindicted coconspirator on the Cohen felonies that they have to prosecute him. I’ve been saying that but for DOJ policy, he’d already have been indicted (and probably convicted and in prison).

No one is above the law. That’s not political persecution. That’s making sure the rule of law applies to everyone in the country, no matter who they are and their position.

What is really depressing about all this is that, despite Trump effing things up about as royally is things can be effed up over the last four years, and despite an extremely motivated electorate, you still have close to half of the voters, roughly 48%, voting for the man who is FUBAR personified.

And too large a chunk of the people who voted for Biden split their ticket. They don’t see that Trump isn’t unique, but a product of the Republican party in general. I don’t think you can “blame” Fox News or OAN or even the entire right-wing news eco(echo)-sphere. They merely reflect what those consumers want to hear. Sure, like a snake eating its own tail, they curl into a tighter and tighter ball of an impossible reality of their own imagination, but … they still have to be convinced to uncoil or the problem never goes away.

And it seems impossible.

Ask yourself how many of the votes of support for Trump were the results of a desire to “keep the same horse” remember, it’s not all that common for the nation to only give a president 1 term recently, the most recent examples were the Bush SR. and he was the result of Democrats needing to revise their party to respond to the Southern Strategy and Cater who’d just had something huge blow up in his face right before election day.

Being the Incumbent counts for A LOT, especially the way he abused the incumbency to help his campaign. Whoever runs on the Republican Ticket in 2024 will not have that advantage.

IN RACE FOR “WORLD’S BIGGEST BASTARD,” STEPHEN MILLER’S STAR CONTINUES TO RISE

The architect of Trump’s family-separation policy reportedly killed a deal to pay for mental health services for all the kids he f—ked up
One of the most evil policies from the uniquely evil Trump administration was that of separating families at the border, including those with children who were actual infants. That policy somehow got a boost in monstrousness last month when it was reported that the government couldn’t find the parents of 545 separated kids, a horrifying situation that Donald Trump responded to by noting that children who may never be reunited with their parents are “so well taken care of” and are “in facilities that are so clean.” And while it would be difficult to top that, somehow the White House and allegedly its resident sadist, Stephen Miller, have risen to the occasion.

NBC News reports that the White House stopped the Justice Department from striking a deal in October 2019 to pay for mental health services for the migrant families the Trump administration had separated, according to two current and two former senior administration officials. Sources said that the decision was made by the Office of White House Counsel after it consulted with Miller, a senior adviser and the architect of Trump’s barbaric immigration policies. “DOJ strongly, and unanimously, supported the settlement, but not all agencies involved were on the same page,” an administration official told NBC News. “Ultimately, the settlement was declined at the direction of the White House counsel’s office.” Said another: “Ultimately, it was Stephen who prevailed. He squashed it.”

Which of our allies will have the honor of indicting this devil first?

Biden will face tremendous problems, even beyond Trump fuckery.

There is still disturbing data about the economy.

The rich are doing fine - they usually do.

But the working poor are being really sqeezed.

It is likely that any reckoning of the pandemic economics will lead to big market crashes.

Perhaps historic, given how the equity markets have been puffed up by cheap money.

I know y’all are hoping for Harris in 2024, but right now I feel our future is even shakier than when Trump won in 2016.

The absolute refusal of so many Americans to live in reality is costing us precious time.

I’m glad you had something to enjoy as you recover! Was so sorry to hear how sick you have been.

Thanks!

It was just a touch of pneumonia brought on by Invasive Aspergillosis with a side order of Dysgeusia which resulted in a complete loss of appetite.

So, over 6 weeks, I hacked my lungs out, lost 20% of my body weight, and spent nearly a week in the Hotel Dieu. I looked like a trade-unionist after a stay in Dachau when I got out.

Been home 6 weeks and put 25 lbs. back on, but still weak. And if you’re a foodie, don’t ever get Dysgeusia. Hell, don’t get it period.

It’s fading, slowly, but there are still some things, like full-bodied red wines and cheese that tastes like something that I still can’t eat or drink. Tastes like a mouthful of iron filings in nitric acid sauce. Ten weeks ago, *everything* that wasn’t white tasted like that.

So, baby steps, but I’ll probably (+60%) be taking Voriconazole for the rest of my life, however long that is.

Quick google search shows she’s a former RNC stooge who has been bouncing around the ranks of the SBA and GSA for years, with even her time in the private sector being involved in government-linked lobbying firms and law firms. She’s a political animal, which means she probably figures if she draws Donny’s wrath, then her future in politics is pretty much finished. It seems counter-intuitive to me, actually. If she’s wanting to preserve her political career, wouldn’t she be better served by breaking ranks with Trump and enabling the Biden administration, thus giving them an ally they may be willing to work with (and employ elsewhere), as opposed to hitching her wagon to the President* and going down in flames with him, leaving her completely unemployable in the future? She might be yet another crook who is facing jail when Trump goes.

Barr currently looking for every avenue possible under Trump’s orders to ratfuck us until Inauguration Day.

…while also simultaneously preparing legal outs for himself, actively destroying evidence implicating himself of crimes, shredding documents meant for public access but kept under wraps, erasing emails from all public and private servers and wither indirectly or directly threatening the very lives and families of would-be whistleblowers… you know- the usual stuff Mafia Consiglieres do.

The Ghost of a Flea  Nov 20, 2020 • 3:37:10pm

A bunch of these people, if they got sick they wouldn’t admit it was uncomfortable or unpleasant: since they’re basically making money through being a “brand” where the brand image is authoritarian conservative garbage, a show of vulnerability or a concession to human emotion—being scared for themselves or for others—is damaging to the bottom line.

It’s the marketing parallel of dictator invincibility: subtract the comic displays of prowess that make dictatorships seem ridiculous to outsiders, and you get a far easier-to-sell cultural product….”strength” that people who don’t make money off their image think they can emulate, failing to understand that the display by the brand-maker is worth millions in profit—that directly pay for good health care and a bubble environment where risked is smoothed down—while their own “strength” will benefit them comparatively little.

It’s a great trick. Mainstream society…and in particular, those parts that are monetized in a capitalist system…do the same basic things cults and dictators do but more effectively. Which is, I strongly suspect, why we’re directed to laugh at and feel contempt for people subject to cults and dictators that play along. If we makes those people other, not-like-us, then their suffering and their compliance prompts no reflection about our suffering and our compliance.

In general, judges try to assume competence on behalf of the actual lawyers that appear before them. After all, those lawyers spend a lot of time and money (whether their own or daddy’s) getting to where they are. You like to assume they actually learned something in the process. When it is demonstrated otherwise, the judges tend to get a little bit irritated at having their own incredibly valuable time wasted.

“We have enough deaths out there that we couldn’t get those numbers together. We were unable to do that in time for the report today.”

After the call, the Star-Herald followed up with Panhandle Health Director Kim Engel said 14 deaths are pending confirmation. That means death rates have increased by more than 400% in the Panhandle over the last month.

The Panhandle has an overall cumulative positivity rate of 20.9%, compared to a cumulative positivity rate of 7.1% a month ago. Positivity rate is important because a higher percentage of positive cases suggests higher transmission, and a higher likelihood that there are additional COVID-19 cases in the community where persons have not yet been tested or chosen not to get tested.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that test positivity should remain at 5% or lower when considering measures such as reopening regions, according to a Harvard Global Health Institute article. Asked what was a “good positivity rate,” Engel said that New York state has a positivity rate at about 3% and is “pulling out all the stops” to ensure that COVID-19 cases remain low.

At this time, she said, “it’s going to take a long time to (bring the cumulative positivity rate) back down.”

The weekly positivity rate is key at this time, which last week officials reported at 51.1%. The Panhandle weekly positivity rate began climbing steadily at the end of September, exceeding 50% on Oct. 25. It’s continued to climb weekly since.

He still won’t order masks, though. That might “create resistance.”

LINCOLN — Gov. Pete Ricketts warned Friday that Nebraska may hit the red zone for COVID-19 hospitalizations before Thanksgiving, triggering tighter state health restrictions.

He also acknowledged that Nebraska’s contact-tracing efforts had not kept up as the number of COVID-19 cases soared, allowing a backlog of cases to build up.

“The simple answer is we didn’t do our job,” the governor said at an afternoon press briefing. “We at the state had not been keeping up with the surge.”

Contact tracing, which Ricketts has described as the “blocking and tackling” of epidemiology, aims to stop the spread of the coronavirus. Tracers reach out to people who have tested positive for the virus, find out who they might have exposed and then contact those people to ask them to quarantine.

The governor said he learned of the problem at a press briefing last week, when he was asked about a person who had tested positive for COVID-19 but did not hear from a contact tracer for eight days.

He discovered that the state had accumulated a backlog of 2,600 cases awaiting contract-tracing efforts. In half of those cases, tracers have not even made an initial attempt to reach the person who tested positive for COVID-19.

It is, after all, possible that these people who would never have been able to talk face to face with DT otherwise (I know, who’d want to, but sometimes a job has its unpleasant bits) took the opportunity to tell him about an epidemic he doesn’t seem to have heard about.

Or maybe, seeing the backlash about their trip to see their god, they cooked this up on the waY. I’m actually okay with that, as long as they actually did what they said they did. After all, if they have an “R” after their names, I’m never going to trust them either way.

It would be a good thing for all Lizards to engage in a month of self-examination and penance to offset the seriously unkind thoughts and utterances directed towards the Trump circle.

After we get rid of these motherfuckers.

I respectfully disagree. After we get rid of these motherfuckers, the main order of business will be to brand these motherfuckers as the motherfuckers they are for all time.

There’s also the essential business of putting pressure on Democrats to not work with these motherfuckers because they are motherfuckers.

DT and his people are going to repeat this stuff up to the time when Joe is sworn in and they will try even after that if they can.

Trump will be carried to his reward by the Corona 22 epidemic. That variant is a mofo, recognizing “asshole” as a co-morbidity.

Fox News created a White-Worship cult. It took regional White rivalries, hatreds and economic concerns and nationalized them into a populist grievance cult.

With severely weakened trade unions during the past 50 years and the rise of independent scammy Evangelical churches cable TV gave Fox News a national platform of identity to Entitlement-minded whites. The product Fox News is selling is White American Supremacy. Others are welcome to come along for the ride like Clarence Thomas or any number of Cuban/Latino figureheads or misogynist Black nuts like Kanye or Ice Cube.

Just don’t get in the way.

The thing is they’re not really masochistic they’re just so sadistic that they’re willing to endure pain so long as the people they hate get hurt worse.

That’s true. Read the Daily Kos diaries of the white people refusing to enroll in Obamacare because they hate black people. Especially the diaries of the hard core racists on their deathbeds saying they ARE willing to die for their race.
