Amazing: The Adrian Belew Power Trio, “E” (Feat. Julie Slick and Jordan Perlson)

Music • Views: 27,906

YouTube

This is a wild composition and everyone plays amazingly, but I think I’m most blown away by the bass player, Julie Slick.

Composition, guitars by Adrian Belew
Drums - Jordan Perlson
Bass - Julie Slick

Jordan’s Meinl Cymbals setup from left to right, if sitting behind the kit, is as follows:

15” Byzance Traditional Medium Hihats
18” Byzance Dark Crash
21” Byzance Dark Ride
15” Byzance Extra Dry Medium Thin Hihats
8” Byzance Dark Splash (Stack Top)
8” Byzance Brilliant Splash (Stack Bottom)
18” Byzance Sand Medium Crash
20” Byzance Extra Dry China

See a playlist of demos for each cymbal here: http://bit.ly/312ldOJ

Sadly, I don’t think we are a civilized nation right now. I am deeply upset by the ignorance, stupidity, and lack of caring. It’s eating up my soul.

lawhawk  Nov 22, 2020 • 6:12:23pm

So, about that appeal by Rudy and Ellis to the 3d Circuit.

It’s dropped the Equal Protection argument entirely. It’s only about the fact that the district court judge dismissed with prejudice when it should have been dismissed with leave to refile.

They’re hoping to get another crack at the arguments that failed so spectacularly the first time because they don’t have any facts or evidence on their side will be better the second time with warmed over conspiracy bulkshit.

The 3d Circuit should tell them where to stick the appeal, and then impose costs and sanctions for good measure.

The District Court’s ruling was an evisceration of everything those two asshats argued, attempted to argue, and even if “facts” were taken in the best possible light to the plaintiffs, there’s no facts or evidence supporting any of their claims, let alone the relief requested.

GOP has obstructed relief since May. They’ve known or had reason to know that CARES Act would be insufficient, and that the relief would run out just in time for the holidays. They don’t care. They never cared. It’s all about the cruelty and the pain.

They don’t care how many millions lose their jobs or get sick or die.

They’ve been slipping and sliding down this path since Nixon. Trump is the logical conclusion of coddling conspiracy theorists, forced birthers, racists and science deniers.

Earlier than that: Barry Goldwater.

The answer is Yes. To both. They’re delusional and they’re deluding their base/Trump followers. It’s conspiracies and grifts all the way down, and they need to run one last con on their way out.

Shit for all my criticisms of the media the past four years, it’s nice to see them treat the media as people other than a hostile enemy. He’s got a good team around him. I didn’t support Biden initially because I honestly worried about his age and thought he was too old fashioned but I’ve been convinced since early last Winter that he was the best for the job given all that’s going on. I keep on going back to that he was warning about Trump dismantling hte pandemic response team in October of last year. He’s a smart guy and I think it’s one of the most underrated things about him.

Fun fact: The original mauve dye Perkins produced was actually a very bright purple, but it faded fairly quickly to the paler color we think of today. It’s brightness in a sea of duller colors made it a sensation at the time.
The Victorians took up wearing some eye-watering combinations of colors as more synthetic dyes came on the scene.

Biden’s tweet then? “We are not prepared for a pandemic. Trump has rolled back progress President Obama and I made to strengthen global health security. We need leadership that builds public trust, focuses on real threats, and mobilizes the world to stop outbreaks before they reach our shores.”

And one idiot commenter at that time: “We are probably not prepared for the meteor either. How about we focus resources on the daily problems we have instead of the 1 in 10,000 year event that is likely to not gallen anyways?”

Biden seems to have a great perspective on what this country needs and how to attain it. Unfortunately, every initiative will be sabotaged by McConnell.

Most of history, when people had access to color…they wore all of it at the same time, because each piece of dye work was more clout.

To some extent available colors were duller back in the day because unless you had access to murex shellfish (purple and maybe royal blue,) or cochineal (scarlet), natural dyes tend not to be as pure and bright as synthetics. Pigments for paints gave more options but really bright ones were way too expensive to paint a whole house with. But yeah, faded is not the original look anyone was going for.

The Senate GOP fully support Moscow Mitch. They are deplorable as he is. Their only mild objection to Trump is his style but that was before they saw how it resonated with the base. Since the end of WWII, the US has influenced Asia. But more recently, Washington has been absent from important Asia-Pacific regional economic deals, such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the just sealed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). US’ absence clearly illustrates that Asia is developing toward multi-polarity.

The US used to involve itself in many important issues across different continents and oceans. However, it is unable to participate in some processes that are of extraordinary importance in the Asia-Pacific region, which reflects the decline of US power. The US now lacks absolute superiority, and no longer possesses its former advantages. This ineptitude in the near and long run will hold Washington back from putting its nose everywhere.

Article from RTL in French, on the vaccine schedule. I haven’t seen this in the English media.

The key date is the 10th of December, that’s when the Pfizer and, I believe, the Moderna vaccines are going to be approved or rejected for Emergency Use Authorisation in the US and a number of other licencing authorities around the world. The vaccines are being distributed right now in preparation for that date so once the EUA is issued then they can start injecting people straight away.

In other news the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine has announced interim results — no notable side-effects, about 70% effectiveness on average. There’s a difference between dosages, two large doses have an effectiveness of about 60% and a small dose followed up by a larger dose has an effectiveness of 90%. The testing cohort is smaller than the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines though so the error bands are a bit wider.

The Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine is a lot easier and cheaper to make and easier to distribute than the phospholipid-encapsulated mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. The UK has ordered 100 million doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine up-front.
