I don’t plan to check out anytime soon but I’m 71 and it never hurts to be prepared. I’ve had a huge falling out with my Nazarene minister brother, who has gone full Q-Ball, so the new plan is to have my Baptist preacher son-in-law preside at my funeral. He is 43 so he has a much better chance of out-living me than my crazed brother anyway. As always, I have instructed him to keep the preachifying to a minimum, though he is welcome to pass the plate if he likes.

There will be no one to organise a funeral for me (unless my wife outlasts me). As such, the local VFW and village board are aware I want a military funeral in the village cemetery, and a giant beer bash (paid from our estate) at the community centre.

It looks for all the world like the cultists are serious about this. Fine with me. I’ve seen it suggested that this is rat copulation designed to make Dems complacent and less likely to vote. That seems like a turn too many to really work. Nevertheless, EVERY Dem needs to show up and vote, since the most brutal beat-down possible will have advantages in further damaging enemy morale.

mmmirele  Nov 26, 2020 • 5:17:17pm

I’m posting this, not because I want you to watch this, but just to demonstrate that in my very neighborhood, we have traitorous and seditious people preaching to the masses that Trump should be president in 2021 because these modern day prophets say so.

SHOULD WE LISTEN TO MODERN PROPHECIES?

This guy is Eric Jones, he’s the pastor of Evident Life Church in Gilbert, not that far from my house (actually, almost directly south a few miles). I’ve know who he is for a few years now. He’s one of those political pastors, a definite supporter of that sheer nitwit congressman of mine, Andy Biggs. Jones is also viciously anti-abortion.*

So how did I come across this, you ask? I’ve been keeping track of what people have been posting to YouTube since the election, specifically on the subject of (without quotes) “trump false prophet”. Today’s search trawled up this item and I watched it, trying not to get sick.

The arguments he makes are just stupid. It basically boils down to “these prophets have been right before” (uhm, WHEN?) and “God is not going to let these prophets be wrong.” It doesn’t seem to have occurred to Eric Jones that the prophet business in the Charismatic segment of Evangelicalism is nothing more than a big grift. I’ve been waiting to see who the first “prophet” is who will break from the rest and try to reinterpret their prophecies to acknowledge a Biden presidency. At one point, Kris Vallotton of Bethel Redding admitted he was wrong, but then he took down the video, saying he was too soon—more likely because he’s engaging in magical thinking that seems to believe there will be a pro-Trump coup.

The long and the short of it for *me* is that I’m masking up and going out on Sunday to his church with a sign that says (side A): “ERIC JONES TEACHES TREASON AND SEDITION” and (side B): “ERIC JONES BELIEVES FALSE PROPHETS.”

When someone feels comfortable preaching and teaching that the electorate is wrong and the Constitution is wrong, and is basically calling for and supporting a coup against the will of the electorate, he needs confronting and his cult needs informing. And I’m just the person to do it.

——-
* I’ve already got an idea for signs for the anti-abortionpalooza of late January in mind: “Women who have sex before marriage are not sinful sluts” and “Women who have abortions are not murderous sluts.” The use of “slut” is deliberate. I’m never going to forget that anti-abortion nurse who called 16 YO me a slut when I thought I was pregnant after having sex exactly once. They’ll call me out for the language and I will sweetly remind them of a day in April 1977 when I was called a slut.

I said that had a zero percent chance of happening because of how difficult it would be to get 70% of the states, not to mention that it would be a political loser. He said they’d (the Democrats) would do it anyway.

This is an absolutely necessary weapon system.

Yemeni weddings can get quite large, after all.

Data from wiki suggests
Mod 12 Status In development Deployed 2019 onwards Production 400 to 500 weapons planned Mission: Tactical/Strategic 0.3, 1.5, 10, or 50 kt PAL: Cat F Notes: GPS guided, earth-penetrating weapon

Definitely a first strike weapon, decapitation mission profile. Tiny payload really, probably just a gas boosted fission primary just barely big enough to be imploded.

They declassified this to get the “rah rah” element on board with making these utterly un-necessary weapons so that congress won’t cut the $10 BILLION pork project when the 50 Mod 11’s in inventory can do the mission just fine.

A long thread on what appears to be an Astroturf hate group organised in the United Kingdom.

Despite the fact his group appears in many countries, all the members on social media all seem to be from England.

You would not be surprised to learn JK Rowling has written in support of the group.

The perils of JK Rowling’s LGB Alliance (Varsity UK)

Georgia Goble reacts to J K Rowling’s recent essay, arguing that it is not only factually inaccurate but also poses a considerable threat to the trans community as her stature almost gives the alliance credibility.

It seems she’s completely fallen for the idea of trans rights vs. women’s rights as a zero-sum game where rights given to the former automatically harm the latter. She even wrote about a male serial-killer character who dresses up as a woman.

re: #38 jaunte

What’s JK Rowling’s problem?

I don’t know what has been said by people who are experts who study and watch these things but, based on my observations and what I’ve read, every woman who seems to be anti-trans but not coming from an in-general anti-LGBTQ point of view seems to be someone who is very successful as a woman in their respective fields, and had to fight against stereotypes, the patriarchy, misogyny, and break glass ceilings to become so. Because of this they seem to think that trans-women are somehow “cheating” by benefiting from male privilege for most of their lives and then just skipping to the end. They also seem to be flabbergasted that we don’t see it their way.

I could be wrong but this is how I’m interpreting what information I’ve been exposed to.

I made arrangements with the Neptune Society for my cremation and scattering my ashes in the sea. I explicitly wrote NO FUNERAL in my will mainly because I saw how my Aunt violated my grandmother’s wishes and she held a funeral and refused to honor Grandma’s agreement with the Neptune Society.

The last thing I want is a Pulpit Pimp grifting at my funeral.

Cannabis group files to defend constitutional amendment (Rapid City, SD Journal)

Two law enforcement officers in South Dakota are in court to overturn the will of the people using the same argument used by the Lancaster County Sheriff in Nebraska: The amendment covers more than one subject so it should be thrown out.

The difference between the two is the Nebraska sheriff filed against it before it went on the ballot; these asshats filed after the election was completed and the amendment passed.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The group that campaigned to legalize recreational marijuana in South Dakota through a voter-backed constitutional amendment has filed in court to defend the amendment in a legal challenge brought by two law enforcement officers.

The Rapid City Journal reports South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws organized the effort to pass a constitutional amendment legalizing cannabis for adults, as well as providing for its commercial regulation and medical use by minors. The amendment was approved by 54% of voters on Election Day.

But two law enforcement officers, Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom and Highway Patrol Superintendent Col. Rick Miller, have brought a lawsuit arguing the amendment is not legal because it covers more than one subject and should have been handled as a constitutional revision rather than an amendment.

In South Dakota, this has turned out weird on how this court case is being paid for.

The Attorney General is defending the amendment (so the state is paying for it), and the governor’s office is supporting the police officers (so the state is paying for it).

If it holds up in South Dakota, we will have legal maryjane in Colorado to our south and north in South Dakota, a couple hours away in either direction.

The deliberate Republican genocide continues:

Health experts and local leaders were stunned Wednesday when Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis extended his order barring towns, cities, and counties from enforcing local mask mandates even amid a disturbing spike in COVID-19 cases.

DeSantis extended an earlier order prohibiting localities from fining people who refuse to wear masks, effectively rendering mandates unenforceable.

He extended the order less than a week after a bipartisan group of mayors pleaded with him to issue a statewide mask mandate. Experts widely regard masks as a simple, effective way to stem the tide of COVID-19. DeSantis is reportedly no longer taking phone calls from mayors.

It’d be what Michael Cohen said - Trump will take off to Mar-a-Lago for the Christmas break and simply never return to D.C.

Make no mistake about it. DeSADIST along with Killer Kim in Iowa and Killer Kristi in South Dakota want people to die. They want the elderly, disabled, sick and weak to die. Their God Ayn Rand feeds on the blood of the weak.

It also disproportionately affects the elderly, a reliable voting bloc for Republicans.

It’s not just DeSantis, it’s virtually every Republican governor. Wyoming’s governor refused a mask order despite the public health officials of every county asking for it, now he and his wife have Covid. Our public health officials and the National Quarantine Center asked for a mask order and our governor refuses, and is also in quarantine with his wife. Kristi Noem north of us also refuses a mask order.

Nebraska and South Dakota’s medical systems are about to collapse statewide.

Neither state has particularly large populations of minorities (though there is a large population of Native Americans in South Dakota). There are almost no minorities in the Nebraska Panhandle and it is ravaging our area.

It’s deliberate.

Folks need to stop denying Republican politicians their own agency.

Continuing such excuses as “they don’t understand/reject science,” “they are uneducated,” &c denies them agency for their actions. It infantilises them.

“It is deliberate” gives them agency. It is also the simplest explanation. As so many senators and representatives have gone to high-dollar universities and such all holding the position of “it’s a Democratic hoax” or “it will go away in the summer/winter/someday” takes away their agency.

It is a genocide. It is a crime against humanity. There must be trials.

I have a confession. I don’t hear things like normal people. All songs sound somewhat like that to me. I have to read lyrics to get them.

Ha, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one. Grew up with classical/opera playing constantly and just heard the voices as other instruments. Have to focus to hear the words and usually just don’t bother.

And yes, there is music where the lyrics are important, poetic, etc. But like you, I have to read them.

Often resulted in frustrating conversations with the ex, who’d want me to play the song with the lyrics “….” and my only response would be “Can you hum it”? Because I usually didn’t have a clue.

I think they act how they do because they’re eugenicists and Social Darwinists…some of them produced by the long-term cultural project of reconstituting all culture as justifying selfishness…though they use very coded language to express this idea.

They’re not stupid, they’re contemptuous of information. They’re not secretly being forced to do this, they’re happy with the task

Need a COVID-19 nurse? That’ll be $8,000 a week (Denver Post)

Early in the pandemic, hospitals were competing for ventilators, COVID tests and PPE. Now, sites across the country are competing for nurses

This will make it even harder for rural areas to retain nurses.

DENVER — In March, Claire Tripeny was watching her dream job fall apart. She’d been working as an intensive care nurse at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood and loved it, despite the mediocre pay typical for the region. But when COVID-19 hit, that calculation changed.

She remembers her employers telling her and her colleagues to “suck it up” as they struggled to care for six patients each and patched their protective gear with tape until it fully fell apart. The $800 or so a week she took home no longer felt worth it.

“I was not sleeping and having the most anxiety in my life,” Tripeny said. “I’m like, ‘I’m gonna go where my skills are needed and I can be guaranteed that I have the protection I need.’ “

In April, she packed her bags for a two-month contract in then-COVID hot spot New Jersey, as part of what she called a “mass exodus” of nurses leaving the suburban Denver hospital to become traveling nurses. Her new pay? About $5,200 a week, and with a contract that required adequate protective gear.

Months later, the offerings — and the stakes — are even higher for nurses willing to move. In Sioux Falls, S.D., nurses can make more than $6,200 a week. A recent posting for a job in Fargo, N.D., offered more than $8,000 a week. Some can get as much as $10,000.

This came to my attention a day or so ago; in this video of a recent meeting between Russian President Putin and Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, notice that Putin doesn’t use his right hand once. Which is very odd…as Putin is right-handed. Instead, Putin’s right hand either grips the armrest of the chair he’s sitting in or it’s somewhat concealed behind the armrest. There’s certainly internet rumors circulating that Putin may be suffering from Parkinson’s Disease.

The problem with the whole idea of “less lethal options” is that generally the way they’re less lethal is…you train to use then properly to avoid harm.

What police have done worldwide…but particularly visible in the last couple of years in the US…is use their less-lethal equipment in ways that maximize harm, and train one another in the correct, most-damage application of each device. They do this knowing that they’ll rarely face consequences.

The best example of this is aiming for someone’s head with a gas cannister…but remember pepper spray cop?

The genocide is deliberate, Wyoming edition. What do you do when there’s an epidemic in your state?

Proposed budget cuts pound public services (Cheyenne Wyoming Tribune-Eagle)

I’m surrounded by morans, but I can’t afford to live somewhere sane.

Gov. Mark Gordon last week sent proposed budget cuts to the Wyoming Legislature that slash public services and weaken the already thin safety net supporting Wyoming’s most vulnerable.

In a news release accompanying his budget proposal, Gordon said his government took a “strategic” path to reducing programs instead of recommending indiscriminate percentage cuts. The goal is to manage the state’s fiscal crash with the least impact to citizens, the governor said.

But given the scale of the savings budget writers must find, cushioning the public from harm is no longer possible: “It is a harsh reality that at this point every cut will hurt,” Gordon said in a news release.

Tax rises on the wealthy and Wyoming corporations are of course, off the table. The conservative religion only allows for cutting your way to prosperity, no matter how many people you have to kill to do it.

Besides, Gov. Gordon has no worries, he has state socialist medical care as the state governor, as does his family.

All of the states are in trouble. IL is borrowing as much as we dare from the Federal Reserve, and we’re going to have to cut back services, too. The right wing didn’t try to beat Biden, but they fought like the devil to defeat the state constitution amendment to go for a progressive income tax. We are one of the few state that have a flat tax, which means the legislature can’t raise it. Think of all the poor and middle income people who voted against that because they were told “THEY will raise your taxes if you approve this! We were also counting on getting some kind of support for the state from the federal government. Lost on both counts, thanks, and we were in a deep hole after Rauner’s term.

We’re not in deep financial trouble here, so the state wants to repeat the Kansas experiment in the next legislative session (eliminate income taxes on corporations and the wealthy and farmers). They want to add a twist though: Deeply slash the property tax as well (which funds local government and public schools “government schools”).

That would be replaced with what they call a “consumption tax” while insisting it’s not a sales tax (it’s a sales tax). That “consumption tax” would be applied to everything (including food).

Our state governor has not accepted the expanded SNAP benefits. We are the only state which hasn’t done that. (Pete Ricketts is a billionaire, he doesn’t need food stamps.)

There is still $400,000,000 in CARES Act funding which Pete Ricketts refuses to release (with the legislature out of session, we essentially are an autocracy). That has to be returned at the end of the year; he intends to do it.
