Right Wing Twitter Alternative “Parler” De-Platformed, Then Hacked - All User Posts and Personal Data Exposed

Internet • Views: 33,889

Yesterday, the right wing “free speech” (read: hate speech and violent incitement) Twitter alternative Parler was shut down by Google, Apple and Amazon, which is bad enough (for them), but this morning it got even worse, because their entire user and post databases – including deleted posts and videos – are now in the hands of hackers, and all those right wing idiots are exposed: Every Deleted Parler Post, Many With Users’ Location Data, Has Been Archived.

The moral of this story: right wingers are very bad at internet security.

Well, I left a message on my Republicypher congressman Adrian Smith’s answering machine in Scottsbluff noting that mob was coming to kill him. I hoped he would vote to impeach the man who sent the mob directly to him, and told him I know he won’t.

New: @FBI now reports in a bulletin “Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the US Capitol from 17 January through 20 January,” @AaronKatersky reports.

I wonder what all those posts about Capitol insurrectionists being arrested and losing jobs will do to attendance.

Hate to say this — but Hawley is far worse than Cruz. Cruz is merely a liar who antagonizes everyone and only believes in what will further his agenda. Hawley, however, appears to be a religious fanatic, who attributes all ills to liberty, and people not following the right gospels.

Mr. Hawley has explained that the blame for society’s ills traces all the way back to Pelagius — a British-born monk who lived 17 centuries ago. In a 2019 commencement address at The King’s College, a small conservative Christian college devoted to “a biblical worldview,” Mr. Hawley denounced Pelagius for teaching that human beings have the freedom to choose how they live their lives and that grace comes to those who do good things, as opposed to those who believe the right doctrines.

Looking at those statements from the QAnon nuts, man all I can say is I hope someone’s there for them, that they haven’t totally alienated everyone around them….because I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some of those folks attempt suicide when the whole QAnon ARG comes crashing down.

What I found interesting (well, mostly saddening and disturbing, but still interesting) in looking over Grace Spelman’s page of posts from (presumably) QAnon crazies is how ambiguous some of them were. A couple said stuff like “I can’t talk to my family anymore”, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether it was because THEY were the Q- nuts, and the family weren’t: or vice versa. And sadly, it doesn’t seem to make much difference.

You can’t fight fascism by expanding the police state

Expanding the U.S. government’s already bloated surveillance state will only bring more terror and harm to the same communities that Trump targeted with his racist policies and rhetoric. More money, weapons, and technology in the hands of the Department of Homeland Security—an agency complicit in human rights abuses long before Trump took office—won’t stop the rising threat of right-wing violence. Instead it will be used to suppress legitimate dissent, and disproportionately target Black and brown activists, Muslims, immigrant communities, and social movements that effectively challenge systemic injustice and corporate power.

Your proposal is acceptable, Mr. Barnett.
Richard Barnett, who posed at Pelosi desk said in Facebook post that he is prepared for violent death

Last Saturday, Richard Barnett of Gravette, Ark., criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a Facebook post for using the description “white nationalist” as a “derogatory term.”

“I am white. There is no denying that. I am a nationalist. I put my nation first. So that makes me a white nationalist,” Barnett wrote on a page he maintained under a pseudonym, before adding that people who were not nationalists should “get the f—- out of our nation.”

One reason the Trumpites are being defeated is that they will predictably turn on each under the slightest pressure. For instance, GOP pundits instantly responded to the Capitol riots by trying to blame “antifa.” This is Judas level treachery. The rioters were in fact the only members of their miserable movement who had the guts to take action and their reward from fellow Trumpites is to be disowned and vilified as lefty terrorists.

There are shades of Watergate in this: “Who first suggested that you sell out the insurrectionists by claiming they were antifa?”
“Actually, nobody ever suggested that we should not sell them out.”

It’s classic GOP.

No.

New legislation creating new categories of criminal and giving more cash to a system that is already (1) biased in how it operates, (2) already demonstrates that it, unchecked, picks and chooses who it targets is a valid critique. We need an audit of what is, not a raft of new toys for the same bad actors. It’s the same problem as with the Patriot Act: all that new hotness just got dropped on the same people the culture doesn’t like, and never addressed the putative problem it was supposed to solve.

It is not “move on” from Jan 6th at all…rather that everything happened on Jan 6 is already covered by existing laws, and should have been pursued when it was still being discussed under existing definitions of organized groups promoting violence…except that we constantly make excuses for white people not in the de jure language of law, but in the liminal language of “bad optics” and “letting these people speak.”

Once again my goto is electoral-vote.com today
“To impeach or not to impeach “
See especially Jim clyburn’s thinking in the last paragraph

And if it does happen after the inaugural, Biden’s on it

…he’s already spoken with senators about a way to “bifurcate” Trump’s impeachment trial so he could continue to advance his agenda, adding it’s “obvious” the House will move to impeach, ABC News reports.

Said Biden: “Can we go half day on dealing with the impeachment, and half a day getting my people nominated and confirmed in the Senate, as well as moving on the stimulus package — so that’s my hope and expectation.”

Oh, forgot to mention that I got my Covid vaccination this morning. This is the Moderna flavor so I have to go back Feb 4th for the followup. They told me that it will reach 60% immunity in two weeks, with 90% after the second shot.
There was an lady at the clinic who was visibly ecstatic to be getting it. She has been completely isolated in her home for 10 months.

Congradumalashuns! Except for necessary outings like food or doctors, my wife and I have been holed up since May 1. Those trips to Cheyenne for my shots will be a relief; I’m still trying to find out how my wife can get hers.

President-elect Joe Biden said on Monday that he is not afraid of being sworn in as president on the west front of the Capitol, one week after it was breached by a pro-Trump mob.

“I am not afraid to take the oath outside, and we’ve been getting briefed,” Biden told reporters moments after receiving his second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

From “Charisma News”

“…The day was peaceful, with police letting people in to both the Capitol grounds as well as to the Capitol itself, with some scuffles as the police tried to control the crowds so they would enter safely. There was a clear presence of antifa-related thugs who tried to break the glass of windows, which was completely unnecessary as the doors were being opened, albeit carefully so there would not be a rush of the crowds.

It is biased against believers and conservatives that the one time they stood up and participated in their constitutionally guaranteed right to petition their representatives, that event was hijacked by leftist radicals to derail the very investigation the president’s supporters were asking for. Congressional refusal to even investigate the fraudulent election frustrated many and even symbolized the ultimate betrayal people felt when Vice President Mike Pence refused to stand up for their rights to have their votes honored.”

The fever is still on these people.

Lots of police, but pro-Trump protest at San Francisco headquarters turns out to be a bust

SAN FRANCISCO - A pro-Trump rally outside San Francisco’s Twitter headquarters Monday morning failed to materialize.

Only a few protesters and counter-protesters showed up.

“I don’t like being censored. And I feel conservative voices are being censored,” said one protester.

Police were out in large numbers. Barricades were raised, and officers would not allow vehicles to stop or park near the building.

Pro-Trump supporters were expected to rally in front of the Twitter headquarters to protest the tech giant permanently suspending President Donald Trump’s personal account.

I noticed the date format - YYYY-MM-DD - and thought it a bit odd, but I looked it up and apparently that is used in the USA along with the more traditional MM-DD-YYYY format most of us use in everyday life. OK, here we go:

The U.S. State Department’s website on Monday showed that President Donald Trump’s term had ended, sparking speculation that he resigned or was removed from office. It was later confirmed to be a mistake.

A biography for the president said: “Donald J. Trump’s term ended on 2021-01-11 19:22:18.” A biography for Vice President Mike Pence showed a similar message.

It was not immediately clear what caused the mistake, but an archived version of the same page revealed a similar message in mid-December, saying Trump’s term ended on December 17.

BuzzFeed News, citing sources, said a “disgruntled staffers” was behind the changes.

Trump is facing calls to resign in the wake of last week’s attack on the U.S. Congress, killing several people and injuring dozens more. Democrats and a few Republicans have called on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to immediately remove Trump from office.

Disgruntled, or error, it’s still an indication of some serious incompetence somewhere in the process.

Sen. Collins’ VERY CONCERNED account of the 1/6 insurrection HERE:
(Bangor Daily News) - frankly, for as harrowing an affair it must have been, it reads more like “Auntie Susan Caught in Fire Drill At The Mall”: though she does add that it had a pleasant denouement:

The rest of the night I spent at Murkowski’s home because I was worried about finding a parking space that late and about the violent extremists knowing where I live, given the threats and security problems I have encountered during the past two years. The police drove us to Murkowski’s home, where her husband had built us a nice fire and had glasses of wine awaiting us.

At first I didn’t like the idea of delaying the Senate trial. But, Trump can’t be removed before he leaves office on the 20th, the Senate does have pressing issues to address, and Biden needs his Administration staffed with confirmed appointees. After the nominees are confirmed, a Covid bill addressed and a reconciliation bill passed, the Senate will have plenty of time for a trial, and evidence will have been developed of the conspiracy, which can be put on since the Democrats will be in control. Day after day of evidence could be devastating to Republicans.

re: #257 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷

The mom was putting her kid in danger too. I have no clue who this woman is, but not wearing a mask in a public place IS a selfish piece of shit move. And if the child sees that other people have had it, she will learn that people, even mommy, can and should be called on their shit. And maybe, when she’s not around mommy, she will be able to do the right thing and feel good about it. It’s wrong to scream at a kid who has no control over what she’s told to do. But I also get, having been on lockdown since March 15th or so, having had more than enough of idiots.

I couldn’t hear what the second lady with the mask said. I would guess that the first lady has lost someone in her life from this mess, or like most of us, we’re tired of this getting worse because of selfish and stupid people. Most of what we do as part of “our normal life” requires a lot of close contact with a lot of people. Shopping in any store, entertainment, education, most workplaces, dining out, it’s a lot of what we do in a day, let alone weeks and months, Being . So, spoiled as we are in many ways, life has been altered, and a LOT of fun has been put on hold indefinitely. That is hard. For all of us, unless you’re really in a wealth bubble and don’t have to feel it.

I had to give her flea drops between the shoulder blades yesterday, and had to read the fine print twice to assure myself it was not actually stating that I should refrain from sexual relations with the cat for 24 hours after application. Fortunately, I am not obliged to have sexual relations with the cat, either before or after the 24 hour period, but it was only the discovery of my spectacles on the bread cutting board (no idea) that confirmed this.

I hope that normal people are repulsed by the GOP and many deplorables won’t turn out in 2022 without Trump on the ballot. But Democrats must have excellent messaging and a GOTV strategy to prevent a GOP comeback.

The GOP has the disadvantage of a crap senatorial map in 2022, which I hope we can leverage into an expanded Senate caucus.

Damn, I’d forgotten about that.

GWB invoked Section 3 twice, both times due to surgery. There’s some question as to whether Reagan invoked it when he had surgery in 1985 - apparently the letter he sent to Congress just said he was “mindful” of the provisions, and then a second one saying he could carry out the duties of the office again.

Section 4 has yet to be invoked. And as I’ve said before, in a case like we currently face where the president isn’t in a coma (and just fucking crazy), there is potential for a major crisis of government.

I noticed the date format - YYYY-MM-DD - and thought it a bit odd, but I looked it up and apparently that is used in the USA along with the more traditional MM-DD-YYYY format most of us use in everyday life. But I’d imagine with official communication, they’d use YYYY-MM-DD as that’s internationally recognized, IIRC.

YYYY MM DD format is very popular in IT and data processing circles since you can date sort using that format.

It’s an international standard standard, ISO 8601.

When I date a file I’m saving (Word & Excel files, PDFs, etc.), I always use YYYYMMDD; much cleaner and easier to sort.

War is typically something done by organized governments, not an unruly mob. This is more akin to the Whiskey Rebellion then to the Civil War. War, treason, sedition, insurrection… these all have specific legal meanings. I get that a lot of them look similar, but there are differences.
