Few things will give me as much pleasure as seeing Kamala with the gavel in the Senate giving the stink eye to McConnell.

Three days before thousands of rioters converged on the U.S. Capitol, an internal Capitol Police intelligence report warned of a violent scenario in which ‘Congress itself’ could be the target of angry supporters of President Trump on Jan. 6, laying out a stark alert that deepens questions about the security failures that day,” the Washington Post reports.

Which also got me thinking about the response to me that got CL’d (when the original tweet only went in as the last post on the active thread):

re: #179 Hecuba’s daughter

The governors of their respective states would appoint a RW replacement almost immediately, so there would be little time that there would be 2 vacant seats.

This is true. However, it’s also true that in both states, the governor is considered a valid target for a recall election.

So these idiots have to weigh “at what point does my constituency become more likely to just be happy to be represented in Washington again, vs. their likely initial response of trying to throw me out of office for capitulating to leftist pressure and terror?”

That may not give much time where we don’t have to cater to Manchin, and rushing things through would leave us with a 49-51 minority until the DC and PR Senators are seated because he will caucus with the GOP if we “betray” him that way—

—but I’m not sure it’s not worth it as the last chance to ever get anything even liberal, let alone leftist, done without having it overturned by SCOTUS in a year.

Biden was the one who broke the ice on same sex marriage.

Because of white privilege Biden will be able to steer more towards reality than it ever was allowed under Obama.

Obama was the right man at the right time and he may have shown us where the f door is but he left it to us to kick it in.

Biden really does seem to know exactly what he needs to do on multiple fronts. And, given his choice of Attorney General, I think he knows how to set up others to do their jobs.

Why on EARTH would we want to leave that poison pill in the Senate rules for anything at this point?

I mean, I suppose it might be useful if we had to filibuster an actual Enabling Act for the next GOPresident, but filibusters rarely work as well against Republican bills in the first place.

52

The only reason McConnell left the filibuster in place is he never cared to govern.

I agree the filibuster should go, but it takes a majority of Senators to eliminate it, and I don’t think we have the votes. I hope I’m wrong.
