Fox Drops Dobbs: Lou Dobbs Fired From Cable News for the Second Time

Since I wrote a short article about it 11 years ago when CNN got tired of Lou Dobbs promoting Birtherism and fired his conspiracy-peddling ass, I thought I should write another one now that even Fox News thinks he’s a liability: Fox News cancels longtime host Lou Dobbs’ show.

Fox News has canceled “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” the program hosted by television’s staunchest supporter of Donald Trump and of his assertions of voter fraud in the 2020 election, The Times has learned.

Dobbs’ program, which airs twice nightly at 5 and 7 p.m. Eastern on the Fox Business Network, will have its final airing Friday, according to a Fox News representative who confirmed the cancellation. Starting next week, the program will be called “Fox Business Tonight,” with rotating substitute hosts Jackie DeAngelis and David Asman, who filled in for Dobbs on Friday.

Something tells me the defamation suit filed by the Smartmatic voting machine company against Fox News and yes, Lou Dobbs (among others) may have had something to do with this decision.

That suit may be the most entertaining legal document ever written, by the way, so I think I’ll include it here. First sentence of the introduction:

Dobbs getting fired is the Friday Night News Dump I can get behind.

He’s used his platform to spew toxic conspiracy theories for years, and it’s only now starting to come back to bite him in the ass with accountability.

I’d much rather see Dobbs bankrupted by the lawsuits. There are few who are more deserving of that fate.

I’d seriously hoped that they would at least attempt to continue the briefings with a bit of disinformation. But presumably the administration has better information on Trump’s real mental state than us, such that they know the information is going to get garbled anyways…

Black Capitol rioter denied bail while many White participants granted release (Yahoo!)

Even for the same crimes at the same place and time.

The 20-year-old was seen wielding a metal bat at the Capitol entrance during the insurrection

Activists have repeatedly pointed out the glaring disparity between how violent white Capitol rioters were treated vs. peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors. But now it’s been reported that a Black participant from the Capitol siege has been denied bail while many of his white allies were set free.

According to reports, on Jan. 6, Black Trump supporter Emanual Jackson, from Capitol Heights, was caught on surveillance video joining the mob of “patriots” who attacked Capitol police during the siege.

We might get both. Smartmatic’s lawyers are out for blood, from the look of it.

Yes, you can use reimbursements for anything you want which is legal (including paying off tax liens).

So it should be no trouble to show the mileage log which shows she’s eligible for that distance she claims to have travelled while campaigning in CO-3 (about 80% of the distance to the Moon).

President Biden (I never used that title with Rump) has been amazing so far. He’s pushing through a COVID relief bill that fits the moment. He’s firing the Trump burrowers. He’s reversing the horrid policies. And he’s bringing on a staff that cares about America. He’s even using the DPA to start fighting COVID in earnest after a year of inaction. It’s been so heartening.

This is not new, just the decision (which Trump will no doubt appeal because of the huge fine involved):

I imagine being President with the AG in your pocket helps slow down cases.

Illinois’ attorney general is suing Chicago’s Trump International Hotel & Tower for allegedly breaking environmental laws.

Lisa Madigan’s suit claims the property draws and releases millions of gallons of water from the Chicago River without necessary permits.

Moreover, the property has not studied the effects of this on the river’s fish population as required by law, it says.

A Trump Organisation spokesperson said the suit was political.

I’ve never seen a Democratic president act so quickly and so thoroughly to reverse a previous president’s horrible Republican policies. Does my heart good.

To be fair, prior Republican presidents used Congress to get their policies implemented. And while some administration appointments were terrible, most were qualified for the positions and knew what they were doing, especially when it came to foreign policy and defense. It’s much more challenging to reverse laws than EO’s.
