My best friend when I was a young had polio in his right foot. When he walked his right foot would land on his heel and his foot would then rotate right which caused a noticeable limp. He was very sensitive to anyone who asked what was wrong. And his one hand, I forget which, was also semi crippled.
“Wrong? What do you mean? I’m what?”
We had to tell him it wasn’t personal, maybe they care, and it did sometimes look as if he was injured.
We never noticed it after a while.

I am back from the Cheyenne VAMC. I got my second Moderna shot. So far, I’m still alive. The nurse tells me that the effects from the booster may be worse than the original, so we’ll see what happens.
After the orthopaedic clinic nurse called me this morning, they actually scheduled me for an appointment.
When I was called back to look at my hand, the doctor there wanted to know about my fatty tumours and how I was feeling. (?)
It turns out the guy they really meant to see has a similar name to mine, and they mangled his when they called him for his appointment. Since he was not in the room and I answered, they assumed it was me.
After that got straightened out and I saw the correct doctor and nurse, they noted my right hand is not doing well (think that picture of Mitch McConnell’s hand some months ago and add a whole bunch of swelling). They could not determine the cause of the bleeding under my skin, but the blood goes about a third of the way up my right arm.
The nurse spent considerable time cleaning up the mess (I’m still bleeding) and re-wrapping my hand in a new bandage. She also sent my wife home with a bunch of supplies.
Going into Wyoming, Interstate 80 was closed due to wind, as was Interstate 25 north of Cheyenne. The wind in Nebraska was awful; it seemed better west of Pine Bluffs, Wyo. There must have been a million trucks parked in every lot west of Sidney waiting out the winds. Coming home I took the back roads to and through the Panhandle to avoid the closed roads.

When I was called back to look at my hand, the doctor there wanted to know about my fatty tumours and how I was feeling. (?)
It turns out the guy they really meant to see has a similar name to mine, and they mangled his when they called him for his appointment. Since he was not in the room and I answered, they assumed it was me.
After that got straightened out and I saw the correct doctor and nurse, they noted my right hand is not doing well (think that picture of Mitch McConnell’s hand some months ago and add a whole bunch of swelling). They could not determine the cause of the bleeding under my skin, but the blood goes about a third of the way up my right arm.
The nurse spent considerable time cleaning up the mess (I’m still bleeding) and re-wrapping my hand in a new bandage. She also sent my wife home with a bunch of supplies.
Going into Wyoming, Interstate 80 was closed due to wind, as was Interstate 25 north of Cheyenne. The wind in Nebraska was awful; it seemed better west of Pine Bluffs, Wyo. There must have been a million trucks parked in every lot west of Sidney waiting out the winds. Coming home I took the back roads to and through the Panhandle to avoid the closed roads.
Hope the hand starts improving soon.
As for the Covid vaccine, I understand it usually takes close to a day to get the side effects after your second shot and only 1/4 of the people who get it have severe side effects. Most are just achy and maybe have a low grade fever.

No, it won’t be arriving on time because there is no evidence that it has left Houston and they say it’s coming tomorrow.
I’ve seen this verbiage before and it means that it’s still sitting in the last post office it was tracked to. It’s not moving within any system. It has been delayed and will arrive a day or two late. Tomorrow they will admit this. It’s OK. They had a natural (and unnatural) disaster.

The View is not a show I watch with any regularity. Just saw bits of it repeatedly since I had radiation appointments everyday at the time it was on. And they always had it on in the waiting room.

Then again they brought guests like Chris Christie on to talk about political campaigns - which strikes me as similar to the Sunday morning shows, bring on GOP talking heads to hear the latest set of standard talking points lies.

Didn’t include the issue in the first impeachment, abusing the power of the office for political gain.

The country, both political parties, and Biden himself would be well served to pull in the reins while they can. Because the Trump amendments are not written into the formal Constitution, statutory changes can at least partially repeal them. For instance, Congress and Biden can close loopholes that Trump used to move money around and evade the confirmation of nominees. They can make it explicitly illegal for a president to use pardons to obstruct justice or engage in criminal acts. (This would not revoke any pardons a future president might issue, but it would make a president think twice before issuing a pardon that might expose him to a corruption investigation after leaving office.) They can strengthen Congress’s oversight power by fast-tracking judicial review of congressional subpoenas. In their book, Bauer and Goldsmith listed dozens of such proposals. There is no shortage of options.
Unfortunately, we’re seeing no movement in Congress to adopt any of these proposals.
