WATCH LIVE: President Biden Statement on COVID-19 Relief Bill

Politics • Views: 21,323

YouTube

As the Republican Party does everything in its power to impede, neuter, and sabotage the COVID relief legislation in the Senate (which would leave desperate Americans twisting in the wind for who knows how long this time?), President Joe Biden is scheduled to make a statement.

UPDATE at 3/6/21 11:02:35 am by Charles Johnson

Just in: Democrats have succeeded in passing the bill, despite the Republican Party’s heartless obstructionism. This is why elections matter.

Guess they’ve never read Art 1, Sec 4.
It’s black and white

We all know that they only use the constitution as a prop; they don’t actually read, or if read, understand it.

Can’t be a “federal power grab” if it’s in the constitution

An acquaintance of mine doesn’t say he had dementia, but is operating by his brain stem.
Considering that they voted for Jill Stein for 2016, their complaints can go right down the toilet.

What’s the problem?

The mom is armed because the dad asked one too many times “What’s for dinner” and she pulled a gun and said “you fucking cook it”.

The dog has a gun to ensure that he gets some of the food, and Timmy has his sister at gunpoint for the same reason. She can be a real pig.

The dad discovered the burgers were so rare they were still moo-ing, so has has to put them down before plating. And semi-auto pistols make excellent spatulas.

re: #32 PhillyPretzel

My CPA does not know about the LGF Lizards and I am not going to tell him.

My warped sense of humor gets me in trouble regularly.

Once during a “team building” exercise, we were asked to write our favorite thing to eat on a paper and then put it in a hat. They’d then pull entries and try to guess who entered it. My entry: dead things. And people were annoyed ;-)

I once wrote a tool that was an instant hit in our development community. Presented to a group of managers/directors after they noticed. When asked about any possible issues, I replied I felt it was bulletproof but couldn’t guarantee that until it had more idiot testing. Then suggested they all try the tool….

At a diversity training event, we were broken into teams and tasked with making a piñata with a work related theme. I suggested a bull to my team, which was a standard piñata theme. When we presented to the department, I was asked to justify its ties to our work. My reply: It’s about methodology/process. Two points with a lot of bull between them.

Needless to say, my directors just loved having me around. /

The legal claims here are interesting for a number of reasons. but the import is clear from this and much else that has happened since mid-Nov. Trump sees monetizing control of the GOP as his central revenue stream for the future.

Let him suck the GOP and its masters dry, then spend the loot on blow and hookers.

My only beef with Manchin is he insisted upon changes to the bill that make no sense other than to be a massive dick to his fellow Americans. Which I suppose is reason enough if you’re rich, white, and fossilized.

I’m saving my hate for Krysten Sinema and her attempt to be too cute by half yesterday. And no, it was not a case of “this is what gets elected in Arizona,” because Mark Kelly got elected in the exact same election while running against an incumbent and he voted in favor of the minimum wage hike without making a production of it.

Another historical parallel: Both times, Republicans railed against the bills, called them “wish lists,” and ultimately voted against them. The Recovery Act ended up only drawing three Repub votes: Collins, Snowe, and Specter. 12 years later, Snowe is long gone, Specter is dead, and Collins voted against the Rescue Act because she’s nursing a grudge that none of her “friends” in the Dem ranks supported her last reelection bid.

Also:

We had a little less than an inch of rain earlier in the week, which helped locally in San Diego county, but much of California and the western half of the US are still in drought conditions:

We’ll get some more rain around the coming Wednesday, but long term forecasts don’t show any more.

Long term effects are kicking in from prolonged aridification. As the years roll by and temperatures increase, so does evaporation. While some parts of the US will see increased precipitation, it’s the long term increase in pan evaporation which is going to hurt the western US.
