Okay…just watched about 6 minutes of that Tucker Carlson interview. What an idiot! And I don’t mean that idiot Gaetz. As soon as he brought up Tucker’s past Carlson should have used that moment to thank him for his time and cut his mic. But he lets him talk again and the first thing he says is that Carlson was with him on a double-date. Jesus.

Oh, and the Joe Biden will pardon me, but I don’t need a pardon. Right. Like that would ever happen.

People have been smoking weed in public in San Francisco for years…when I lived in the city I’d often twist one up and smoke it on my way to the bar or walking to a concert. I don’t smoke anymore except on rare occasions, but I hardly notice other people smoking in public. That fad burns itself out pretty quick. “Hey, it’s legal!” doesn’t excuse being rude to those around you. Just like with cigarettes. People will adjust.

Sad to say, it’s unlikely that those doormen/security guards* are actually going to suffer much in consequence of their actions. Their union is SEIU Local 32BJ - with which many Gothamites will be familiar - they are a tight-knit and well-organized local: I’m guessing it’s most probable that the two building guys are just going to be “suspended” for a while, then found jobs in some other building after the upset dies down. Embarrassing (and *morally* wrong) as their actions may have been, AFACBD, they didn’t actually break any rules or violate any laws.

*their exact job title/status is/was unclear.

Ayep. There will be a short burst of people doing it out in public because they can and because they know it will piss off the cops that they can no longer be arrested for blazing in public. But eventually doing so will lose its appeal as others treat such people as assholes and then it will be about as common as those people who sit next to the entrance way to smoke their cigarettes while bitching it’s too cold/rainy/windy/etc for them to sit at the designated spots.

Q has been looking in all the wrong places for that child sex trafficking ring all along. It was a mighty case of the projecting like IMAXes. They claimed that Democrats were involved, when it was really Trump, Trump buddies like Maxwell and Epstein, and now Gaetz.

Make no mistake here, we’re not talking about inappropriate sex. We’re not talking about nonconsensual sex.

We are talking rape.

The victim was underage. That means by law she cannot give consent. She was raped.

That means Gaetz is an alleged child rapist and child sex trafficker, and every last motherfucking article/headline needs to treat it as such. Use the proper words to describe his actions and the allegations. She was a child when these events occurred and that makes it illegal and rape.

And yeah, it puts all of his weird behaviors/actions around Nestor into question as well.>>

In March 25 emails between Neiman and Goldberg that Matt Gaetz shared with POLITICO, Don Gaetz’s cooperation was discussed and confirmed.

“I can confirm that your client is working with my office as well as the FBI at the government’s request in order to determine if a federal crime has been committed,” read an email from Goldberg to Neiman. “This has been discussed with, and approved by, the FBI as well as leadership in my office and components of main justice.”

“The government thanks you for working cooperatively with the FBI,” the email concludes.

There was a time when miscegenation was illegal. Dancing with a person of a different race/ethnicity was enough to cause a lynching or rape (that went unprosecuted).

There was a time where obtaining birth control was illegal.

There was a time when homosexual relations in a private home was illegal.

There was a time where same sex relations were illegal.

The long Politico article could be shortened by simply acknowledging that Papa Gaetz confirms that Matty is under investigation by the DOJ for allegations of sex trafficking and statutory rape.

That the only “defense” they have is a story about how a Florida attorney who hasn’t worked for the DOJ in over 20 years suddenly approached him with threats to make that investigation public knowledge unless the Gaetz family paid him to keep it quiet.

And that even though Gaetz agreed to wear a wire, as of 6 days ago the FBI was still only investigating if a federal crime had been committed. That’s a pretty strong indication that whatever McGee said at the meeting where the wire was worn, it was not enough to support an extortion charge in federal court.

Since the GOP and Chamber of Commerce are going to bitch about how we pay for Biden’s infrastructure plan, I think it important to identify what we’re talking about here and how to analogize this to something we deal with all the time - paying for upkeep of a home.

Our home (the US) dates back to the 1700s. We have infrastructure dating back almost that far - heck, they find wooden water pipes in Manhattan when they dig up streets. We have a power grid that dates back to the 1800s in places. Some places in the US only received electric power in the 1930s and after as part of TVA and electrification efforts. We have roads, bridges, and tunnels that are functionally obsolete, weight limited, or hazards to public. We have airports and mass transit that need boosts. We need high speed rail.

Broadband is not available nationwide.

These are all things that the Biden plan addresses.

And how to pay? Hiking taxes on those who have benefited most from the Trump tax cuts.

Just made an appointment for my 17 yo daughter. Wife got her second shot today, and I get mine tomorrow. That just leaves my son, who has to wait until a juvenile vaccine is approved.

My 20 yo is on a waiting/on call list. Hopefully they will call soon.

Yes! That was another thing I noticed they allowed now when we were looking at renewal for the year back in the Fall. ACA hasn’t been perfect, but before Trump you could at least find legit policies that actually covered stuff at reasonable prices. With a few choices from several companies. That’s gone, unless the Biden administration has done some heavy lifting to right some wrongs.

Life expectancy about 3 1/2 years.
Mil-history types will know that cavalry units all over Europe had a thing for weird headgear and the lancers seemed to be the most flamboyant of all.

The French Cuirassiers (heavy cavalry), rode into battle in 1914 in plumed helmets and polished breastplates. Machine guns and quick-firing artillery brought that to a halt but not before casualties mounted into the many thousands.

I read that more insurance companies are jumping into the exchanges, and more subsidies are being provided so that no-one has to spend more than 8.5% of their income on health insurance.

Scorching hot take:

As a comedic bit and as a tragic-twist in which a well-meaning credulous person hands the villain victory, Jar Jar Binks is an okay performance and not a bad character. It’s just easier to be mad at the part of the movie built to appeal to kids which feels cringe for adults, than admit that all the serious stuff written and targeted for adults was worse written and more cringe-y even as it was given the lion’s share of the time, effort, and fandom-love.

I think we all know the next act in this play: Chris has just lost his job. He’s either going to arrive at his next scheduled shift or get called just before it to be informed he’s being “let go.” They won’t outright say that they’re firing him for telling the truth, but that’s what the excuse will end up translating as. And he will effectively be black-balled from any jobs handling money for the foreseeable future, because any potential employer will view him as a “liability.”

re: #94 No Malarkey!

I haven’t checked anything but Ambetter’s website since the policy was approved and I had the paperwork in hand. I’ll go in and look and see if we can find something better. For me especially, The Husband can get on Medicare because of his disability in a couple months. I’m going to be on my own then, I don’t qualify for any of the government stuff(which you still have to buy supplemental policies for as ways to get more money from you) for another 4 years and a few weeks. I have no income, I have been a mom and caregiver for close to 30 years now. The job is tiring but rewarding, but the pay sucks. My hubby made good to pretty decent money in building maintenance and construction, until diabetes and heart disease ate him up. We are living on half of what we were, which is now less than 35K a year. We have a house and what was supposed to be savings for retirement(we use it to pay bills beyond the disability check), but that counts against us to a large degree. And it’s not going to last forever. We are facing having to move too, this house and yard is too much for us to take care of, even if the mortgage is not ridiculous.

If during the investigation, it is determined that he was specifically targeting Asians in this attack as opposed to being a violent felon (he was out on parole after being convicted of murdering his mother in 2002) who apparently gets his kicks assaulting older people - and probably shouldn’t have been released in the first place, then we can talk. The Atlanta shootings, on the other hand fully qualify for hate crime designation.
