WE TOOK IT ON THE CHIN
THE NUMBERS WERE SO GRIM
BOSSED AROUND BY PRICKS
STIFFEN UPPER LIPS
PACING IN THE YARD
YOU’RE TRYING TO TAKE THE MICK
YOU MUST THINK IM REALLY THICK

LOOKING AT THE GRAPHS WITH A MAGNIFYING GLASS
CANCEL ALL THE TOURS FOOTBALLS FAKE APPLAUSE
NO MORE TRAVEL BROCHURES
VIRTUAL PREMIERES
IVE GOT NOTHING LEFT TO WEAR

LOOKING OUT FROM THESE PRISON WALLS
YOU GOT TO ROB PETER IF YOU’RE PAYING PAUL
BUT ITS EASY EASY EVERYTHING’S GONNA GET REALLY FREAKY
ALRIGHT ON THE NIGHT
SOON IT LL BE BE A MEMORY YOU’RE TRYING TO REMEMBER TO FORGET

THATS A PRETTY MASK
BUT NEVER TAKE A CHANCE TIK TOK STUPID DANCE
TOOK A SAMBA CLASS I LANDED ON MY ASS
TRYING TO WRITE A TUNE YOU BETTER HOOK ME UP TO ZOOM
SEE MY PONCEY BOOKS TEACH MYSELF TO COOK
WAY TOO MUCH TV ITS LOBOTOMISING ME
THINK IVE PUT ON WEIGHT
ILL HAVE ANOTHER DRINK THEN ILL CLEAN THE KITCHEN SINK

WE ESCAPED FROM THE PRISON WALLS
OPEN THE WINDOWS AND OPEN THE DOORS
BUT ITS EASY EASY
EVERYTHING S GONNA GET REALLY FREAKY
ALRIGHT ON THE NIGHT
ITS GONNA BE A GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS
EASY SLEAZY ITS GONNA BE SMOOTH AND GREASY
YEAH EASY BELIEVE ME
ITL’L ONLY BE A MEMORY YOU’RE TRYING TO REMEMBER

SHOOTING THE VACCINE BILL GATES IS IN MY BLOODSTREAM

THE SECOND COMINGS LATE
THERES ALIENS IN THE DEEP STATE

WE’LL ESCAPE FROM THESE PRISON WALLS
NOW WERE OUT OF THESE PRISON WALLS
YOU GOTTA PAY PETER IF YOU’RE ROBBING PAUL
BUT ITS EASY EASY EVERYTHING S GONNA BE REALLY FREAKY

Media definition of “bipartisan”: A Republican and a Democratic politician agree on something. Doesn’t matter who they are.
Administration definition of “bipartisan”: Something that both Republican and Democratic voters out there in the actual population support.

Oh, and to save folks the Googling, the minimum wage in Arizona is $12.15/hr. So the first question that anybody should be asking of Sen. “Bipartisan Barbie” Sinema is why she thinks people outside her own state aren’t worth at least $12/hr.

That’s going to get real interesting real quick once the door gets kicked open. When one of the founders of a terrorist group flips that’s a BFD. I want as many of these fucks behind bars as possible. Barring that, let them lose assets (and have to sell off their militia cosplay everything to pay the bills)and have to pay tons of back taxes. And then, have to get those 11 dollar an hour or less jobs just to eat. That might begin to make up for their traitorous shit.I’m tired of them breaking everything and smearing their shit all over.

Mitt Romney And Kyrsten Sinema Team Up On Bipartisan Proposal To Increase Minimum Wage

Make no mistake this is the proposal that decides whether the filibuster will survive or not.

This is the most pablum deal there ever could be, if the GOP doesn’t vote for this then they will not vote for anything.

This is the test case.

Once it fails, and the GOP will not vote for anything the Dems propose, then we should charge ahead.

Administration definition of “bipartisan”: Something that both Republican and Democratic voters out there in the actual population support.

More accurate—The CCCP’s definition of bipartisanship is when the Democrats give the QAP everything they demand and add some even more reactionary provisions.

Merely giving the QAP everything they demand isn’t bipartisan according to the CCCP and the DC Press Corpse.

Arizona raised our minimum wage and pegged it to inflation by voter referendum. It’s always been the voters fixing the wages these days since a bunch of mainly old, mainly white, mainly rich, mainly male legislators refuse to do so across the Country.

VA just voted to raise the minimum wage here for the first time since ‘09. Goes up to $9.25 in May of this year, $11 next year, and $12 by 2023.

That’s what happens when the voters put Dems into office because the state GQP have become so ossified that they’re arguing against repealing “Lee-Jackson-King” day in the 21st century.

And you know why we have a $12.15/hr minimum wage? It’s because we, the people, used the proposition process to overrule the hellspawn GOP dominated legislature. Just as we’ve done it to get legalized recreational cannabis and to get rid of paycheck loan places. (Now if we could only get rid of car title loan places…)

Unfortunately, we had to go the long way around: Changing the make-up of the General Assembly by slowly voting every GQP fucker out of office and then making sure it stayed that way by fighting in the courts to keep them from trying to gerrymander themselves back into power.

The crooked assholes actually waited until a senior black Senator was out of town to attend Obama’s second inauguration, then rammed through a redistricting plan that would have erased his seat and given them a competitive seat in a newly created district. They lost that fight in the courts, which in part led to them losing the General Assembly altogether.

So after I got up today, the hard drive for my old rescue mac arrived. About two months ago I found a Quicksilver Mac Dual 1ghz CPU sitting in a snowbank. I stopped & snarfed it. I nuked the drive that was on it and made to install 10.5 and things started going weird. In the end I got max ram for it for cost of shipping replacing the stick that it came with, replaced the DVD with one that can do dual layer dvds and tried adapting one of the drives I had for it. It didn’t like the adapter so I just simply found a cheap Maxtor ATA drive on eprey and it came today.

Installed 10.5, updated to 10.5.8 and that’s it for this box. Iworks, garageband, xcode, Macintosh Common Lisp, Halo & Marathon. Need to find my copy of Doom yet but that’s minor.

TenFourFour for a web browser that actually works and it’s good to go. Nothing special but it was a fun exercise in making a machine from 2002 usable for most daily chores. I’d not want to do my phot processing on it but I could see using it for word processing and the like as well as the handful of good games the PPC Macs had. Being a dual cpu machine it’s about as responsive as a low end celeron dual core; not bad for 19 years old.

When I was in the grocery store a couple of days ago in line to check out, behind me down the aisle with all the snack foods a woman had a coughing fit while talking to someone and she pulled her fucking mask off to cough each time she did.

Based on a study by economists… and what does that have to do with the price of tomatoes? Economists — people like Peter Navarro and Lawrence Kudlow??? They are the ones who are supposed to be guiding coverage of the pandemic??? Yes — let them tell us what’s important, not the infectious disease specialists or epidemiologists — because economists, who cannot predict what’s going to happen in the economy next year are the ones to tell us what should concern us about a deadly disease.

I think we’ve all been there.

But we are older now and have the reservoir of time, experience, and the realization that we all have been idiots in many situations in the past.

You can play the game of “what I should have said”, but didn’t. No one ever asks “maybe my partner should have said…”

Why harp on it? You didn’t say it. Your partner didn’t say it.

Maybe you fucked the dog. Maybe even if you had said it, it wouldn’t have made a shitpot of difference.

At 65, and nearly dying last year of a non-Covid fungal infection, I’m sanguine about “what if’s”.

“What if’s” are infinite. Don’t think so? Buy a lottery ticket.

The past is bygone. It can’t be changed. The only direction is forward. If you use your life experience and make sane decisions, the chances that you will be happy will be much greater.

Concentrating solely on anything that happened to you in the past is navel gazing.

And, oh shit, it’s after midnight in South Austin. No hail, but a little rain this week. We are still in moderate soil drought.

Night all. Sweet, highly keeled, scaly dreams, with blood from the eyes in some species.

I’m having my first adult beverage since March 10, when my surgery-hiccup-abscess ordeal first began. I got out of the hospital on the 31st and was given very strong anti-biotics and was warned in the strongest possible terms not to have alcohol of any kind because it could make me very sick. I finished the drugs on Wednesday, and called the pharmacy to see when it would be safe to have a beer, and they advised me to wait at least 72 hours out of an abundance of caution.

That time has passed, and I am now enjoying an Angry Orchard Strawberry Cider, and it is the nectar of the gods!

Isn’t the whole purpose of cryptocurrency to evade taxes and legal restrictions? To allow criminal enterprises to flourish and avoid oversight? Money laundering seems completely on brand for this money substitute.

There are legitimate uses for crypto. Paypal and Xoom don’t operate in every country. Crypto is the best way to send money to friends or family if they’re in a country where PayPal doesn’t operate.
Bitcoin is actually fairly easy to track; any criminal who knows what they’re doing would use something like monero, which eaa designed with anonymity in mind.

So, the fallout from the (apparent) Russian terrorist attack on Czech Republic back in 2014 is gathering steam, with a slew of Czech politicians straight-up calling it an act of war.

News is starting to filter out that the Interior Minister, Jan Hamáček, and Czech PM Babiš (and possibly others) knew about the conclusions of the Czech intel services - the BIS - for at least a couple of weeks….and were desperately trying to sweep it under the rug. And as I’m sure many here can well imagine, Czech politicians are demanding answers. And they want those answers now.

I don’t understand why you’d stop wearing a mask after you’ve been vaccinated. You can still get Covid.

the biggest reason to keep masking is no one can tell by looking whether you’ve been vaccinated

Desantis is an effing liar. And a pig

Over and over and over, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has described his COVID-19 vaccination plan in just two words: “Seniors First” — yet the addition of two extra words at the beginning might have made it far more accurate: “Rich” and “White.”

Because, while coronavirus vaccines are more broadly available in Florida today just as they are nationally, DeSantis’ earliest efforts, particularly his high-profile visits to the opening of “pop-up” vaccine clinics around the state, favored wealthier, whiter communities — which also happen to be his voting base.

It’s the age that matters,” DeSantis said at a news conference last month in Lehigh Acres in southwest Florida. “Black, white, rich, poor, Republicans, Democrats, that doesn’t matter. If you’re 65 and up, we want to get you the shot.”

Actual statistics say otherwise
. According to an exhaustive analysis of vaccine and demographic data by the USA Today Network of Florida newspapers, Floridians 65 and older in the richest third of the counties had been vaccinated at a rate 4 percentage points higher than the rest of the state. What’s more, the better access for the rich has resulted in just 6.4% of the state’s vaccines going to African Americans, although they account for 17% of the state’s population.

Desantis is an effing liar. And a pig

And

Two longtime Florida Republican officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said DeSantis does not intentionally favor wealthier white people as much as he suffers from a blind spot for Floridians who do not resemble typical Republican voters

Vacation’s over. Back on my head.

124
Dangerman  Apr 18, 2021 • 7:09:30am

Donald Trump and the Republican party have set up their own voters to get COVID-19

Put simply, Republican elected officials have made the political calculation that not talking about being vaccinated is better for them politically, even if it means their constituents follow their example by not getting vaccinated. There is no other reasonable explanation for this nearly-collective Republican silence.

Just pause for a second and imagine what kind of people would make that calculation. You have a virus that has already killed over a half million people. You’ve been vaccinated, but you’re afraid that admitting so will hurt your career … because your constituents have literally been duped into vaccine denial by Donald Trump. So rather than do the right thing, you sit quietly and say nothing, allowing your constituents to risk getting sick, or even dying.

That takes malevolent disregard to a whole new level, doesn’t it?

They don’t really mean permanent. It’s not forever.

Michael Wood, administrator of the state’s department of Occupational Safety and Health, said the move is necessary to address a technicality in state law that requires a “permanent” rule to keep current restrictions from expiring.

Besides mask and distancing requirements, Oregon’s proposal includes more arcane workplace rules regarding air flow, ventilation, employee notification in case of an outbreak, and sanitation protocols.

If you want an abortion, here are 3 reasons why you should get one if you want:

1. People are trying to bully you into not getting it.
2. People are trying to use fear to stop you from getting it.
3. They are trying to guilt you into not getting one.

If Trump is ambulatory and not in prison, it will be Trump. He won’t allow anyone to supplant him if he can help it.

I don’t know if Trump would want to risk losing again. If twitter doesn’t reinstate him, he’ll have 0 chance.

I ran into someone yesterday and I keep forgetting he’s a political retard, but when I told him there was a pop up vaccine site in the neighborhood he said his immune system is too strong and doesn’t need any help…I just smiled and said my good byes.

If he can’t have control over the media like he did before, he won’t do it. Running against Biden(or whomever is the Democratic candidate) requires running against everything he’s doing for working class Americans. It’s not going to be easy.

He’ll just claim fraud again. And the GQP is gearing up to ignore the voters and award Trump electoral votes in swing states. Trump has to run to keep the grift going, and if he is running, he will win the nomination.

Reminds me of the most uber right wing community in my already ruby red county. A few years back the town manager offered a referendum that would run sewer lines to every residence and business with no tap fee and no fee to connect to the residence/business.

The catch? You had to take the service. Folks voted it down because “gubmnit ain’t gonna tell me what to do.”

The town still has no sewer service to speak of, and companies along the main U.S. highway operate on well water and septic tanks.

And the town wonders why it doesn’t have any grocery stores, restaurants, or fast food joints.

That seems to support firing people for promoting unions. You cannot fire them for political statement made outside of “work contexts”. And promoting unions is a work context.

The same community had the chance to take in a nice grocery store in an unincorporated part of the county. The store wanted to sell beer and wine. The town said no. The immediately adjacent town - already with a booze store, mixed drink sales, beer and wine - gladly took the store in, and all of the tax revenue that followed.

It sounds to me like they’re talking about people who are “made famous” after their misbehavior (like that guy harassing the man walking in his neighborhood, or all the screaming anti-vaxxers). I didn’t click through to read the article, so can’t say for sure.

As to firing people, they’re talking about reducing HR’s power to sanction “political speech,” not increasing it.

As with other naval aircraft of its era, good ditching characteristics were a design consideration for the Avenger. Grumman TBF Avenger
Most Avengers were built by General Motors and are therefore TBMs rather than TBFs.
It remained in use for many years after World War II, which is why there are a good many surviving Avengers, with about 40 being airworthy.
