A Gorgeous New Guitar Instrumental From Jon Gomm: “Check You’re Still Breathing”

Music • Views: 15,447

Nobody tells you before you have a newborn child that they sometimes stop breathing for a few seconds while they are asleep. You don’t even realise you were listening to them sleep, until you notice the silence with a rising panic. You wait for the next inhale, and the wave of relief it brings.

But soon inevitably you’re captivated by the peaceful perfection of your sleeping child. Until you notice another silent stillness… Oh no, the breathing has stopped again. But this time - It’s you.

So that’s how they’re going to get Bibi to leave?
Forget the elections, forget the Knesset, forget the law…
But cut off his laundry privileges??

The regime doesn’t end with a bang nor a whimper but with this dang mustard stain….

Great choice Charles, happy weekend. Could have done without the non-breathing babies part but hey, happy Saturday! Thanks for this place!
Internet interaction is nothing but condescending hate, I appreciate this place because it is not.

My favorite (only/closest) diner, where I used to have breakfast two or three times a week, is another pandemic casualty. I thought it seemed to be taking way too long to re-open, and the brown paper covering all the windows did not bode well, but now there’s a sign that says “coming soon, Deli”.

I don’t need another deli. There’s half a dozen places within 3 blocks where I can get a sandwich. What I need is a place for bacon and eggs in the morning; or waffles with fruit; or some other breakfast-y thing. I’m super-irritated. This is even more annoying than the bakery closure.

It’s so frustrating all the Mom and Pop places I love to eat at are gone. My favorite sandwich shop across the street from my office went belly up and the wonderful Korean lady who actually knew how to make a club sandwich on corn rye just couldn’t keep her business afloat with the offices gone. The Mom and Pop Golden Hen on Melrose/Virgil closed because Postmates stiffed them on fees. My favorite kosher deli was also killed off by Postmates and Grubhub stiffing them.

California is opening everything back up on Tuesday and it’s gonna be sad to see more places I love gone forever…

My local cigar haunt got rid of the front table and chairs that the Saturday gaggle used to sit down and shoot the breeze.

Things are changing - but not necessarily for the better.

These are the kind of places the PPP was meant to save; but that money “somehow” all ended up going to big, wealthy businesses who could have weathered the shut-down without it.

My pal Tony who owns Palermo’s in Los Angeles said that the PPP money was a lifeline that kept him going when he had to shift to delivering via Postmates. But I know several other places that didn’t get doodley-squat from PPP.

Diner and gastropub a few blocks from me survived. Former is part of a family-owned chain that started at Villanova about 30 years ago. I was doing take out from one or the other every week or so over the past year as my part in trying to keep them going.

The local bistro survived, as did our bars, and the bar/grills in the next town over. Mrs. Fish and I definitely did what we could to support these businesses during the pandemic, ordering when we could afford to.

The businesses that failed due to Covid are a poignant marker. Whats worse is the missing people. Dead or long term disabled. I just cant believe we got accustomed to so many unnecessary passings. So many absent relatives and friends.

I understand. One business I used to frequent was a breakfast and lunch place. They were the nicest people that you would want to meet. I used to get my soda in the morning to take my allergy meds and sit down for a half an hour before work. Now they are gone. I miss them.

I grew up watching reruns of the old Addams Family TV series and certainly no offense to John Astin, but Raúl Juliá’s take on the character is simply better.

Just checking (wiki) and Sean’s biological father was rock promoter William Tell. His mother, Patty Duke, had undiagnosed bipolar disorder, and was going with three men at the time. She married Tell, but the marriage was annulled, and she married Astin.
