We’re excited to announce our debut album Bright Green Field, out 7th May on WARP! This is the debut album we’ve always wanted to make and without a doubt the most ambitious thing we’ve ever done. We can’t wait for you to hear the whole thing. And especially to be able to play it to you in person…….

‘Narrator’ features the fantastic Martha Skye Murphy on vocals. The music video is directed by Felix Geen.

The track was inspired by the 2019 film A Long Day’s Journey Into Night, the song follows a man who is losing the distinction between memory, dream and reality and how you can often mould your memories of people to fit a narrative that benefits your ego. Martha Skye Murphy, the track’s guest vocalist, made the point that the unreliable narrator is, more often than not, a male who wishes to portray women as submissive characters in their story. After some discussions with Martha she thought it’d be a good idea that she play the part of the woman wanting to break free from the dominating story the male has set.

Memories of the last dinner I had with my Dad before he passed.

I said I wanted to take him to a classy place—The Musso & Frank Grill in Hollywood because I knew that Dad loved lamb kidneys and they prepared them the same way they did for Charlie Chaplin.

I asked the waiter if they could do something special for Dad so the waiter prepared the real Fettuccine Alfredo from the recipe that Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford brought from Italy.

The waiter brought out a tray of fettuccine, cut European-style butter into cubes and mixed it into the fettuccine and then grated real Parmigiano Reggiano on top and mixed it all up. Dad said he never had anything like it.

So glad I made that last dinner we had wonderful for him!

This video is a real trip. The band reminds me a little of Pere Ubu, with some B-52s and Talking Heads maybe. Kinda the same genre as Protomartyr.

American motorists are trained to hate bicyclists. American bicyclists are trained to extend the middle finger to the rules of the road. And thus, the cycle perpetuates itself.

As a Hoosier I know you’ll appreciate. In grad school many years ago I used to ride regularly with some serious riders around Bloomington (for non-Hoosiers, think “Breaking Away”). Having Bubbas yell shit at us and throw beer cans was not unusual. But I felt like some guys just brought that on by insisting on getting in traffic on county roads. No. Keep a single-file pace line and don’t tempt the locals. There are plenty of spaces to break out a bit.

Yeah, that tracks. My dad still gets unreasonably angry at bicyclists in their area. On those roads, there’s really nowhere for them to go. He complains about the bike paths in town, but if they’re not there, they’re in traffic, and I think he’d hate that even more.

And he really put his foot in it with an NRO article comparing his father’s tragedies to Biden’s, creating a real bad-faith false equivalence.

Yeah, I actually blocked him years ago for reasons I don’t care enough to remember. It’s a form of sociopathy, and many right wing pundits have it.

Empathy is kind of bred out of them. It’s taken as a form of weakness, especially among right-wing males. If you show the slightest form of emotion, you are brutally beaten until it goes away, because it’s “un-manly” to cry or to react in any way other than stoic acceptance. Ask me how I know.

re: #24 The Pie Overlord!

This is just so very tragic and awful.

Not everyone is able to just jump into a large vehicle and drive it safely. There’s being able to reach brakes and accelerator easily, steering the thing through space, especially through turns and heavy traffic and watching both sides even more carefully than in a car. Throw in possible health issues, and here we are. It’s heartbreaking 💔.

re: #24 The Pie Overlord!

Thanks for posting this. The LGBT+ Community has pretty much already heard that this was an actual accident. This is the first actual video I have seen of it though. “Rumor” has it when they removed the gentleman from the vehicle, his right foot was trapped between the brake peddle & accelerator. Again this is only a rumor. I have seen no corroborating proof posted to trans-twitter that this is true.

Definitely something I learned early, about large vehicles handling differently. I am very comfortable behind the wheel of a truck or a conversion van. Not everybody is. My first time in a small car was a jarring experience, but I was able to adapt to it. I can’t even imagine people going in the other direction.

re: #31 Dopamine Fish

There is a huge difference in how a good sized pickup or SUV handles vs a hatchback or even a midsize 4 door. I have a hard time driving a large vehicle, judging distances with all that metal behind me is anxiety producing. I’m worried about sideswiping or hurting someone. I drive a 4 door hatchback, I’m comfortable driving something a little bit larger, but that’s it. I have some issues with depth perception too, so big vehicles are harder for me to maneuver. I’d need a lot of driving lessons to figure it out.
