LYRICS:
Feels like I’m surfing on a sound wave
Zooming through the universe
Feels like we’re bouncing off of light waves
I bounce so hard sometimes it hurts

Every time I think I’m stuck
The sun moves along and my shadow gets up

If you’re lost; relax; and be where your feet are

Every time I try to follow someone’s way
My end result is not the same
But then I do that thing – that thing I do that’s just for me
And amazing things start happening
And again, and again,

Every time I think I’m stuck
The sun moves along and my shadow gets up

If you’re lost; relax; and be where your feet are

Outer space is where I’m spacing out
Still looking up when I’m feeling down
I try to walk the talk I talk but the tale is tall and when I look up
It’s still too easy to feel small – still I’ve found…

If you’re lost; just relax; and be where your feet are
If you ever get lost; relax; and be where your feet are
If you ever get lost; kick back; and be where your feet are
If you ever get lost; relax; and be where your feet are
Be where your feet are
(I’m gonna be right here)

We had a window to really shut the pandemic down, but between Open-at-All-Cost policies, anti-vaxers and anti-maskers, we are going to be playing whack-a-mole with this until everyone is infected or dead…

Yep, one of the biggest superspreader events of last year, Sturgis, is coming back around for round 2, the Delta rally.

i know a solar controller when i see one ;-)

Yep. The repairs/upgrades continue. Main electrical power to the vehicle has been pretty much restored. Power generation and storage modules were not damaged so that is a plus. One more cable to be replaced and then I can start repairs/updates on the secondary systems. Weather hasn’t been cooperative to be outside of the Star Dock without shielding for those, so, I’m doing prep work remotely instead.

Get used to it Lizards. I’ve turned this project into a spaced based game to add some fun to it. No. there will not be anymore pages. They sucked the fun out of it.

Because we humans are so selfish and shortsighted, we have guaranteed that SARS-Cov-2 is here to stay, and thus will mutate from year to year.

There is a non-trivial chance that new COVID vaccines will be needed every few years, and that we’ll get COVID vaccinations as regularly as flu vaccinations.

Lets hope it evolves into less deadly strains, so its more like a bad cold or flu.

hi

As I thought, “Red Dress” by Sarah Brand is a sociology experiment.

Red Dress song: Divisive pop video ‘did what it set out to do’ (BBC, eight hours ago)

A student whose pop video has garnered thousands of critical comments online says she has accomplished what she set out to do.

Sarah Brand’s song ‘Red Dress’ has more than half a million hits on YouTube, but much of the feedback has centred on making fun of the track or debating whether it is an elaborate hoax.

She said her work was a “cinematic, holistic portrayal of judgement”.

Ms Brand is doing a master’s degree in sociology at Oxford University.

The elaborate video to Red Dress was filmed at Saint Michael at North Gate Church in Oxford with a host of actors and extras.

Ms Brand, who is originally from Los Angeles, directed it herself and plays the role of two women, one in a white dress and another who crashes proceedings in a red dress.

She admitted to the BBC that she is “no professional singer”.

She added: “The style in which I sing the song was important because it reflected the story.

“The vocals don’t seem to quite fit, they seem out of place and they make people uncomfortable… and the video is this outsider doing things differently and causing discomfort and eliciting all this judgement.”

In case you missed it when it was discussed here (3:26)

Yep, one of the biggest superspreader events of last year, Sturgis, is coming back around for round 2, the Delta rally.

The really big superspreader in the US is Thanksgiving and that’s not going to be cancelled. Tens of millions of Americans will travel thousands of miles to spread the virus among families at the dinner table and their loved ones will take the disease to their own homes and communities when they go home in their turn. Sturgis and even July 4th is a minor blip compared to Thanksgiving.

I guess he’s right. The consumers of the world, even if some may give a slight nod of the head to the reality of climate change, have decided to not change their lives in significant ways.

It will be long after I’m dead, but the day will come when many of the great cities of the world are abandoned within 100 years span.

It might not be “long after you’re dead”.

Hurricane Sandy, in 2012, shut down everything in Manhattan below 14th St (Wall St, the Exchange, WTC, subway lines that go through there on the way to anywhere else, Bellevue and St Vincent’s), large swathes of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, and everything within 5 miles of the cost in NJ. For weeks. It’s still not all rebuilt.

Miami? How much time do you think they have left? New Orleans is already below sea level.

Are any of them NOT?

Don’t know of any. For example, Texas MAGAt kingpin Steve Hotze got into politics in the first place specifically to head off state action against his quack empire in the Houston area.

In December 2020, Vice described Hotze’s medical practice as “hawking ‘alternative treatments’ for postpartum depression, aging, thyroid problems, and even COVID-19”. Hotze has promoted various fringe and pseudoscientific medical claims, such as the existence of “yeast hypersensitivity syndrome”; the use of colloidal silver as a cure for various diseases; and the use of non-standard drugs for hypothyroidism. A seller of hormone therapy products, Hotze gained wealth through a chain of “wellness centers” in Texas.

*snip^

Hotze has been involved in right-wing activism since at least 1982. He has claimed that malpractice lawsuits are “un-Biblical”; supported a Houston mayoral candidate who promoted fighting HIV/AIDS by “shoot[ing] the queers”; and advocated for greater influence of Christianity upon government. A power broker in Texas Republican circles, he is influential among the Texas religious right, and was described by The Texas Tribune in 2020 as “one of most prolific culture warriors on the right in Texas.”

It might not be “long after you’re dead”.

Let us hope I am long lived, eh?

Yes, problems will abound, have happened already, in some locales.

But is New York abandoned? Is New Orleans abandoned? Is Miami abandoned?

Not yet.

But the day will come when society decides it can no longer afford to rebuild in locations that are doomed.

I don’t expect that in my lifetime.

But if you believe I am to have a very long life (let’s hope you’re right), then I expect the first city to be abandoned will not be New Orleans (which we will endeavor to save because of its strategic importance to shipping), but something like the southwest coast of Florida.

All those old folks who live in Ft. Meyers or Cape Coral, if they are not killed off first from refusing vaccinations and wearing masks, or having their boats sink while in some Trump-parade on water, will find water incursions don’t care about their beliefs.

re: #30 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷

Nope. Brenden Bayliss (guitar, vocals) at the Friday Red Rocks show back in June granted a couple of requests to a fan, as he said to the crowd in between songs for some banter, and I quote:

Our friend Quad is here tonight. It’s his 500th show. *Why?* Five hundred. He had two requests. One was that we get the whole crowd to say ‘Fuck you.’ That’s not how it works! And the other one was ‘Don’t play “All In Time.”’ So, you’ve seen us 500 times, you can’t ask for people to say ‘Fuck off.’ But everybody here can say ‘Quad, you’re an asshole.’ 3… 2… 1…

*7,000 people inside Red Rocks Amphitheatre all yelling all at the same time QUAD YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE!*

Word around the campfire was they did grant Quad his request to play “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” by Talking Heads, which they played later that evening. It’s the only time they’ve ever played that song live

No. Not a groupie. Love their music. I’ve met the players and most of the folks in the organization (including the band, there’s a couple of dozen people on the payroll year round at UM), hooked some of them up with ski rentals in Aspen once, and have been skiing with the keyboard player twice.

Groupie? Nah. 500 shows? That’s crazy.

If there isn’t masking, there will be an outbreak, and we will be right back to closed schools again. Our county is already in the infection red zone.

About half of the patients were under 12, Mestre said, and the rest were older and eligible for the vaccine. But none of the patients with COVID-19 at Nicklaus Children’s on Friday were vaccinated. Most children who get COVID-19 do not need hospitalization, Mestre said.

So there are parents who won’t get their 12+ children vaccinated, even though they could.

Will these know-nothing parents ever learn?

Quite a few media heads are actively positioning for being under Trump or another right wing fascist rule. Best not to burn all the bridges against the perceived eventual ruler of America …and instead try to jockey for position as a favorite at the daily White House firehose of lies propaganda events.

Forget traditional media. Their boards and most senior execs are in the tank for Trump.

Not just athletes, it’s actors and other celebrities too.

Anna Nicole Smith and Heath Ledger died of the exact same cause, about a month apart. Guess which one was an all-day-every-day TV-and-tabloid feeding frenzy for months, and which was a one-day story and “let’s let the family have their privacy in this difficult time.”

Paris Hilton and Kiefer Sutherland were convicted of the exact same offense, received the same sentence, but which one had swarms of paparazzi and helicopters following every detail and which one had a 2 sentence mention on network news and a paragraph in the paper.
