LYRICS:
All good things got to come to an end
The thrills have to fade
Before they come around again
The bills will be paid
And the pleasure will mend
All good things got to come to an end

God I wish I was home
Laying around with my friends
The call of the wild
Caution thrown to the wind
The fall of the child
Where the longing begins
All good things got to come to an end

Like a river flows
Rolling until it ends in the sea
Our pleasure grows
Rolling until it ends in you and me

Now as the dark gathers into the sky
And legions of might go thundering by
Regions of light grow dim and then die
And we with our wings
Wait for morning to fly

Like a river flows
Rolling until it ends in the sea
Our pleasure grows
Rolling until it ends in you and me
Rolling until it ends in you and me

Here where the angels
Have appeared and are gone
Your face like an ember
Glows in the dawn
But I want you to remember
All wild deeds live on
All good times, all good friends
All good things got to come to an end

The thrills have to fade
Before they come around again
The bills will be paid
And the pleasure will mend
All good things got to come to an end
All good times, all good friends
All good things got to come to an end

So…it would appear the deep state planted a false ‘false flag’ flag to keep Trump supporters away by making them think the J6 support rally was a secret op to trap them when in reality it was just a Saturday in September in DC.

And gosh, EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I see one of these asshats or Kristi Noem or some other GQP figure going on about how we need God in government, I irrationally want to buy a rifle and ammo. It’s irrational because the police and army are better armed than I am. That said, I live in an area with a significant religious minority (Catholic or Mormon, take your pick) that the evangelical Protestants consider either heathens or cultists. All these people may be allied now, but once someone gets their hands on REAL power, that alliance is going to melt like a snowball on a 115F day.

So-called sovereign citizen of Tacoma, Washington is in the ICU with Covid-19 at age fifty-nine.

Unlike most sovereign citizens who think they are lawyers, this guy is an actual lawyer who apparently gave up his license because he didn’t like the state telling him what to do. He is on Sorry Antivaxxer’s monitor list.

sorryantivaxxer.com
“pro se litigator”, Anti-vaxx, in ICU w/ COVID. “Against his will”

This guy is a piece of work. Apparently he used to be a lawyer but “gave up” his State Bar License so he can pursue law without all the, well, laws. For some reason he keeps beating his chest that he is the sole person capable of ending all mask and vaccine mandates by using constitutional law. We’ll get to the group heading down to the hospital to protest the holding of Luis after we examine Luis thoughts a bit:

First of all, he doesn’t wear masks so at least his penis won’t get any smaller:

[derpy meme goes here about masks]

This is the beginning of the longest rant I’ve ever seen on Facebook, which basically just states how awesome of a lawyer he is even though he’s not licensed.

[crazy Faceborg rant follows, then more stuff at the link]

The religious minorities here are Mennonites, Quakers, and Greek Orthodox.

The first two are mostly not political, and the third is full of wingnuts. In a county as low population as mine we have two Greek Orthodox churches.

(The history behind that was a large fire in Omaha one hundred years ago was thought to have been started by the Greek community there. A pogrom started in Omaha, with Greek-Americans fleeing for their lives and settling in the Panhandle.)

It is not irrational, just somewhat pessimistic. A lot of thought and training is required for all but the most foolish symbolic gesture.

Yup. I’m thinking about the AA men who tried to protect their neighborhood, standing and fighting against the racist mobs and militia in Tulsa 100 years ago. They died. Sometimes there is no option. Sometimes there is.

Sometimes the option is “if I’m gonna die anyway, let me take some of them with me. And meanwhile, buy time for my community’s non-combatants — the elderly, the children, the children’s carers — to escape.”

This as well since I have a son who is Vietnamese and would be at risk in a worst case scenario. Getting him to asylum in Canada would be a very worthwhile operation.

Over past 30 years, it seems to me, that with firearms, the ballistics have not changed significantly. However the improvements on optics have very much impressed me. Or maybe I am just sinking further into geezertude.

30 years? The AK dates back to the late 1940s, the AR to the 1950s. That’s more like 60 years than 30.

Agree about the optics though.

True, but you might also want to consider the rifling twists, bullet weights and composition, powder composition, barrel length, the adoption of the AK-74 and other updates to design. The AR15 of the 1950s is different than the m4 of 2020, based upon 70 years of experience and learning. And then, there are also changes to pistol technology and design as well. Among other things…

I just have my 12-gauge double-barrel. Shotguns are about as sporting as a water hose and don’t require much aim at close range, particularly when nervous or half-asleep.

It’s an actual field/working rifle. Not a gun range show piece. Coyotes don’t really care what color it is or if your scope is some fancy thing that has to be treated with kids glove because the first hard knock deranges it. Then again, all they have to do is die.

Yup, it’s also my impression that improved manufacturing techniques can improve and reduce break-in times on firearms and other manufactured items, like cars. And I suspect that you are correct that the manufacturing allows for more complexity at a lower cost.

I am thinking of new engine break-in times these days. They used to require multiple oil changes and not pushing the engine for a period. It seems to me to be much less so these days.

One of the revolutions in pistols that I have seen over the past few decades is going to ‘plastics’ for the body of pistols. Another has been the ability to design and manufacture higher caliber pistols with much smaller frames. To the point that the frame may be uncomfortable to shoot due to its lightness and smallness.

Another Christian pastor goes down for the count due to Covid-19, this one in Denver, wingnut R. Loren Sandford of New Song Chruch.

Amongst other things he prophesied that Donald Trump would be reëlected. He subsequently posted how “he got it wrong.”

rlorensandford.com

He also claimed a local area shooting was due to sin and not guns.

He has spread Covid-19 misinformation for a long time. It would appear that he started down a path where everything was viewed through the lenses of the Bible and conservatism, moved into conspiratorial thinking about “control” and “fear,” and ended up with him dead.

I wonder how many of his parishioners he killed in the name of God along the way.

Don’t know if this true, but I have heard observations that having a non-militarized/non-black rifle, like the ruger mini-14 is a positive in post shooting legal reviews regarding intent. (Black rifle is often used to mean an ar-15/M16/m4.)

Another has been the ability to design and manufacture higher caliber pistols with much smaller frames. To the point that the frame may be uncomfortable to shoot due to its lightness and smallness.

Agreed. I chose the 1911 pattern as my go to. Recreation, competition, or defense. So I have two Colt “officers” models that are damn uncomfortable to shoot with full power loads. And a couple full size for the recreational side.

Someone I know had a titanium-framed S&W Centennial snubby revolver as his daily carry piece. It was great while it was in its holster but when he was qualifying with it he hated it for some reason.

Don’t know if this true, but I have heard observations that having a non-militarized/non-black rifle, like the ruger mini-14 is a positive in post shooting legal reviews regarding intent. (Black rifle is often used to mean an ar-15/M16/m4.)

Also, on the 00Buck, a lot of folks I know have gone to #5 or #6 shot at inside the house ranges as less likely to penetrate into a neighboring room while still doing what it needs to. The other thing they mention is that a shotgun is extremely loud inside a house. Happily, I have not needed to find out the truth of these things for myself so far.

Yep. Putting all that crap on your firearm is just asking for legal trouble in a post shooting incident. Basic Mini-14=”field/working rifle for varmint control. AR types all “tricked” out with a bunch of shit=I am prepared to/want to kill SOMEONE in the eyes of most D.A.s. Not a good place to be if you’re being investigated.

Pastor R. Loren Sandford Has Died of Covid (The Friendly Atheist)

Includes a metric fuquetonne of crap from the guy’s Faceplant page.

The next death cult leader who’ll get posted on sorryantivaxxer.com. I wonder how many of his congregants will die because of him?

It can be true - depends on other stuff but it helps. My “Cowboy Assault Rifle” aka a Rossi 92 lever action in 357 magnum is far less scary to Joe Snuffy the civilian than the PSAK-47 black rifle I’m considering.

One mystery solved. Even though the right seems to be preferentially removing its own voters with its anti-vax nonsense, the actual numbers are the other way around.

So from a sociopathic point of view (or a Republican point of view, but I repeat myself), it makes perfect sense to do everything possible to keep the covid19 epidemic going in the US, and that is exactly what they are doing.

Those are ratios of those ethnicities compared to whites, but whites are such a large group that the ratios don’t tell the whole story. But whites need to be broken into liberals and conservatives. Those ratios would look very different.

If the goal is to kill people of color, doesn’t that illustrate that the strategy is successful?

Not really. It illustrates that they’re dying more often than white people, but that doesn’t mean they’re dying more often than Republicans. There isn’t any data on political splits to suggest if Republicans are dying faster than the people they hate.

Plus, latino men tend towards Trump. Some black men as well. When the machismo kicks in, they break towards Trump.

So numbers alone don’t show the whole picture, either.

True, but I think the white supremacists in the GOP can’t rid themselves of the illusion that white liberals can be converted to their cause, so race remains their primary focus.

It reminds me of how Hitler spent way too much time hoping that the UK would help the Nazis vs. the USSR. Sure, Churchill was a conservative asshole, but he wasn’t a 21st century conservative asshole.

I’m old enough to remember the initial non-response of the Reagan administration to the AIDS epidemic — “This kills gay people, drug users and Haitians. What’s the problem?”

Eventually the realities of letting AIDS run unchecked combined with serious political pressure from activists resulted in a response effort.

But 21st century Republicans are significantly more depraved and degenerate than their 1980s predecessors.

The whole fucking party is so goddamn deplorable I’ve run out of insults to use. “Republican” is a more damning epithet that anything I could possibly come up with.

Oh I remember my high school history classes. Not a peep about the Trail Of Tears. Thaddeus Stevens and Charles Sumner were vilified and Andrew Johnson was a hero for saving the Presidency from the debauchery of impeachment. Not a peep about the 1876 stolen election that allowed the end of Reconstruction. Uptown Sinclair was denounced as a Communist. No mention of what a racist Wilson was. No mention of Smidley Butler exposing the coup that tried to remove FDR. Truman was considered a Socialist because he supported National Health Insurance and he desegregated the military. Ike attacked for abandoning Joe McCarthy and sending the troops to Little Rock. They didn’t lay a glove on JFK but LBJ was blasted for going too far helping colored folks. Oh and we always had to be on guard because the Communists were infiltrating the US of A.

Five Oregonians were recently hospitalized because they consumed a potent antiparasitic drug despite there being no clinical data supporting its use for Covid-19, according to Oregon Health and Science News.

Two were so severely ill that they had to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

Am embarrassed to say I really don’t recall much of my high school US history lessons — though they stopped well before Eisenhower. My contemporary history class, though, was taught by someone with a more cynical view of the world, and so was not so full of propaganda. Have to confess the only classes that held my attention were math and English. I was a HS junior when Kennedy was shot and still recall that nightmare day.

I was 13 and already interested in history and politics. My first thought was, “No, just wounded, he’ll be ok. The President can’t die, not in this day and age.” The prospect got worse the more we found out, no word from the hospital, then a priest being called in for last rites and, finally, Walter Cronkite making a visible effort at control as he made the announcement that JFK was dead.
