The BP, police departments, prison guards — all institutions infested by white supremacists, many unvaccinated, with no way to replace them on a timely base.

Increase the pay to something people dealing with college loans can afford, and you may find better qualified people to replace the disease-spreading white nationalist conspiracy lunatics. We don’t have to rely on the worst of us in critical roles.

Don’t replace them. State-controlled NG units can be a critical stopgap while we reassess the value of these tasks. We have far more people than necessary under oversight and coercion.

Beto’s, or any Democrat’s, chance of winning in Texas will not hinge on their gun stance. It will hinge on whether or not Abbott kills off the right people with his policies and enough women decide they do actually own their bodies.

The gun thing is just an excuse by both sides to get around the fact that Texans currently only vote based on their party affiliation.

Texas is a non-voting state. So who knows how a true majority feel. In 2016, it was 5th from the bottom in turnout; in 2020, thanks to the Herculean efforts of Harris County, it moved up to 7th from the bottom. Courtesy of new Abbott voter suppression law, it will likely return to 5th from the bottom again — if not lower.

Well, that sucks. The machinery of the state, grinding up human beings. I doubt this is Biden’s deliberate doing, but he needs to take action.

There apparently is a thing about folic acid (which is converted to vitamin B9 (folate) in the body) turning babies gay… So I read up on it:

Folate in the form of folic acid is used to treat anemia caused by folate deficiency. Folic acid is also used as a supplement by women during pregnancy to reduce the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs) in the baby. Low levels in early pregnancy are believed to be the cause of more than half of babies born with NTDs. More than 80 countries use either mandatory or voluntary fortification of certain foods with folic acid as a measure to decrease the rate of NTDs.

when i was growing up, our dentist didnt ‘believe’ in Novocaine
i had a few cavities when i was young
we just sat in that chair and took it

didnt know there were dental painkillers till i was 17 or so

Same here. It was a Serbian guy that my mom had gone to before I was born. It kept me away from dentists for many years because I thought the torture was normal.

lidocaine. and the dentist cuts it himself with adrenaline to boost your blood pressure and narrow the capillary walls so that it deadens pain longer. Or, if you’re like me, kicks in an adrenaline rush that generates a panic attack, or near to one.

I usually refuse dental anesthesia because even the very short term (for geriatric patients) drugs leave me numb for hours).

First time I asked the dentist to not numb my mouth he was very reluctant but agreed to try, but if I bit him I’d have to agree to anesthesia.

When he finished, he remarked that I must have an incredible tolerance for pain. I replied “well, I have been married for decades”. He cracked up until getting a massive side eye from his assistant (who I later learned was his wife).

The latest from Macleans on today’s Canadian election

338Canada: The final polls are in, and they point to a slim Liberal victory

Philippe J. Fournier: It’s no sure win for the Liberals but the final 338Canada vote projection puts them at 146 seats (11 fewer than 2019), and the Conservatives at 127

If that holds it’s another minority Government for Trudeau.

So the Solar guys are here to install my system today - full battery back up, the whole nine yards. They unpack their trucks and then say, “Well, regulations have changed since we quoted you so we have to put the whole thing inside the garage. That meant me tearing out a sink this morning, then ripping my whole work bench from the wall. Now I need to move on getting the garage door moved to the adjacent wall so I can put the bench on the opposite side.

Nice first day back from vacation. Oh, and I have work to do. Go figure.
My garage is a mess so I’m hiding it behind a private spoiler.

Treaty of Tripoli
Article 11

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;

President Adams’ signing statement:

Now be it known, That I John Adams, President of the United States of America, having seen and considered the said Treaty do, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, accept, ratify, and confirm the same, and every clause and article thereof. And to the End that the said Treaty may be observed, and performed with good Faith on the part of the United States, I have ordered the premises to be made public; And I do hereby enjoin and require all persons bearing office civil or military within the United States, and all other citizens or inhabitants thereof, faithfully to observe and fulfill the said Treaty and every clause and article thereof.

Official records show that after President John Adams sent the treaty to the U.S. Senate for ratification in May 1797, the entire treaty was read aloud on the Senate floor, and copies were printed for every Senator. A committee considered the treaty and recommended ratification. Twenty-three of the thirty-two sitting Senators were present for the June 7th vote which unanimously approved the ratification recommendation.

As expected. The vexatiously litigious peckerwoods of America will all end up as plaintiffs under the stupid TX abortion law.

Meanwhile, the SCOTUS majority assured us all that the effects of the TX law could not be foreseen, so it had to be allowed to go into effect.

Bexar County court records obtained by KSAT 12 show that Braid was sued Monday by Felipe N. Gomez, an attorney who was disbarred in Illinois after other attorneys accused him of sending harassing and threatening emails. Records showed Gomez was suspended indefinitely on April 8.

Gomez filed the lawsuit pro se, identifying himself as a “Pro Choice plaintiff” and an Illinois resident. In the court filing, Gomez asks the judge to order the law is unconstitutional and violates Roe v. Wade. The lawsuit does not seek any monetary relief in the case.

So there is a volcano erupting right now on the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, in Spain. Lava flowing downhill, covering fields and houses, the works. (Nobody has been injured, thankfully).

Right now, there are actual Spanish people - actual people from La Palma - claiming that the volcano eruption is a government/EU plot, intended to distract people from the Covid vaccine (which in Spain has met with practically no resistance), to distract people from the rising electricity prices, to claim EU green subsidies from “the climate fraud”, and so on. And some people claiming that everything is suspiciously “well orchestrated”, and that the lava flows from the side of the volcano, not from the top as it should, and that it’s all down to HAARP, or to “mirror satellites” aimed at the volcano.

The idiocy. You really couldn’t make it up.

Idiots and cranks have always been with us. It looks like social media is greatly amplifying their influence.

Clark took issue with a message Whitfield sent to students and parents in the summer of 2020 that promoted “the conspiracy theory of systemic racism.” He said by opposing systemic racism, Whitfield encouraged people “to destroy our businesses, our school district, our city, even our state.”

Brazil’s Unvaccinated Far-Right President Bolsonaro Forced to Eat Pizza on the Street in NYC

Brazil’s unvaccinated far-right President Jair Bolsonaro has been photographed nibbling a pizza slice on the street in New York City, where indoor diners have to have had at least one COVID-19 shot. Bolsonaro is in NYC to take part in the United Nations General Assembly, and, last week, he boasted that he would ignore a vaccine mandate for attendees. However, it seems the city’s restaurant managers aren’t letting him bend the rules.

From QAnonCasualties on reddit…
