The Republicans have pulled off quite a trick. If news is defined as something unusual happening, GOP corruption is not news because the party is so widely corrupt. Some media have turned off their outrage impulse and decided that corruption is normal. 7/9

Playbook: “The International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Fraternal Order of Police put out a statement this morning explicitly saying that the police reform proposal that collapsed would not have ‘defunded the police’ and would have actually strengthened them.”“That’s a pretty strong pushback to lead GOP negotiator Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who blamed the death of reform on Democrats trying to defund the police
I’d have gone with ” lie” instead of pushback
The only person or party that attempts a coup d’etat is the one that cannot win by other means. Gearing up for a coup—which we can concede that Kagan gets right about Trump—is not a sign of political strength but one of political weakness. By signaling an attempt to regain power by any means necessary, Trump essentially confesses that Trumpism is not and is not likely to become a majoritarian movement.

The National Socialists never had a majority of votes, they just leveraged their position as the party with the largest plurality of votes to effectively disband representative government.

There was another example of craptastic framing on Jonathan Lemire’s “Up Too Early” with the daily Axios “one big thing” segment. The young reporter was saying that trust in Biden’s ability to manage the pandemic is quickly eroding according to a recent poll. That includes NBC, MSNBC, and Philly Sports. I can get NBC over the air now; MSNBC has its own dedicated app; and the Phillies and the Flyers have been less-than-thrilling, so no loss there.
Hard to feel sorry for Google in this case, as they pulled this shit with Roku last week. That said, Google is going to reduce everyone’s bill by $10 if NBC goes suicide bomber, so I think NBC might lose this one.
