Playbook: “The International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Fraternal Order of Police put out a statement this morning explicitly saying that the police reform proposal that collapsed would not have ‘defunded the police’ and would have actually strengthened them.”

That’s a pretty strong pushback to lead GOP negotiator Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who blamed the death of reform on Democrats trying to defund the police

I’d have gone with ” lie” instead of pushback

The only person or party that attempts a coup d’etat is the one that cannot win by other means. Gearing up for a coup—which we can concede that Kagan gets right about Trump—is not a sign of political strength but one of political weakness. By signaling an attempt to regain power by any means necessary, Trump essentially confesses that Trumpism is not and is not likely to become a majoritarian movement.

The fear of trump may be overblown

Anyone born after 1915 was not an adult when the National Socialists came to power and can not really be taken to task, they were definitely victims.

The National Socialists never had a majority of votes, they just leveraged their position as the party with the largest plurality of votes to effectively disband representative government.

so further from yesterday’s post about our solar

i just wired in the fourth panel - one of the dead ones
it’s laying on the ground and is alive and kicking

for the first time ever we are making more power than the pumps draw
the batteries are at 100% while they run full tilt

after a little more load testing we might be able to wire in the final pump - an aerator. we’ve been waiting months to do that. and it’s a separate story.

we’re making somewhere in the low couple to few hundreds watts so we’re creating a new metric symbol for that: CFHW (couple-to-few-hundred)

we will always be envious of your KW ;-)

There was another example of craptastic framing on Jonathan Lemire’s “Up Too Early” with the daily Axios “one big thing” segment. The young reporter was saying that trust in Biden’s ability to manage the pandemic is quickly eroding according to a recent poll. There was little effort address the self-fulfillment aspect of anti-Biden anti-vax people choosing death over vaccination and was rather all about how damaging it will be for Biden’s overall ratings. Axios is related to Politico genetically, so I’m not surprised.

That includes NBC, MSNBC, and Philly Sports. I can get NBC over the air now; MSNBC has its own dedicated app; and the Phillies and the Flyers have been less-than-thrilling, so no loss there.

Hard to feel sorry for Google in this case, as they pulled this shit with Roku last week. That said, Google is going to reduce everyone’s bill by $10 if NBC goes suicide bomber, so I think NBC might lose this one.

To be honest, give all the stuff I read during the day, I haven’t really been watching MSNBC a whole lot since the election.

And why are presumably wealthy Republicans okay with kamikaze tactics?

It will hurt poor people more than it will affect them.

Can a Democrat create a deficit so large the GOP can’t deficit spend their way out of it?

part of the problem is that the Senate Parlimentarian is also playing partisan politics… things allowed under GOP control, not allowed when the Dems want to use a variation on the same theme.

Some of this issue is a case of trying not to change the traditions of how Governemnt has evolved, the problem is that the GOP always find them useful when in the minority and simply ignore them when they are not.

They play calvinball betting on the Dems to not reciprocate and when the Dems threaten to do so, they trot out the shine box and they lie to the media about it and watch their responses get broadcast in the clear, with no caveat, no pushback.

Nope. It’s TexASS. They kid will get away with murder because he’s white, just like his fellow asshole Kyle Rittenhouse.

But if the kid was black…

Which Republicans son is he? That’ll explain why he walked after putting several people in the hospital, two of whom had to be air lifted due to the severity of their injuries.

From the rolling coal crash site, some Waller County history:

Texas’ oldest Black university was built on a former plantation. Its students still fight a legacy of voter suppression.

Ok I am home from Pfizer #4. Walked home from Kaiser total 3 miles. Just a little discomfort from the shot site and the ol arthritic right knee thinks I worked out too much. I had the hives break out 12 hours after shot #3. Wondering if that will happen again…

The current government is a right wing shitshow, and the liberal/conservative breakdown is rural/urban like about everywhere else.

Be careful! You could have a worse anaphylactic reaction this time.

I’m aware of that. But when I have to deal with Karens who won’t mask up the hives is insignificant compared to having a tube shoved down my throat to keep oxygen flowing!

Heavy-duty and heavy-handed Catholic (in line with their history since forever).

Since the Irish seem to have finally moved into the 21st Century, Poland is way ahead in the running for “most priest-ridden country in Europe”.

How to get “too much engagement.”

A while back I mentioned a college-age RWer I had encountered who thought communism failed because they put everyone on welfare and nobody wanted to work anymore. He had never heard of gulags and the like.
I suspect that fundy bullshit academies are a main source for this kind of nonsense, along with the subculture of itinerant guest speakers who circulate among fundy churches.
Ran across another one recently who thought “weather services” were private companies that were contracted by the military, the government and the UN to tell them anything they wanted to hear about climate change. I did not ask him his source but I did find out he was a recent graduate of a fundy high school in Albuquerque.

Within minutes, Ferrell said, the teen’s parents showed up. When the police arrived, he was questioned but ultimately released from the scene without charges.

I’m guessing at least one of his parents is a cop.
