Pretty sure if Jeff Davis showed up in a dress like that, the Rebels would’ve shot him themselves.

Good Evening Lizards. Been a rough couple of days. The men are out seeing friends’ bands play in two locations and Cleo and I are chilling watching some tv, and I had an edible because I needs it today.

Hubby turned 55 Thursday and I made him a low sugar no bake cheesecake instead of a cake. His dinner choice was beef stuffed bell peppers and a baked potato with a salad. The guys went out to dinner last night(son taking dad out for steak). I stayed home so they could have much needed one on one time, their relationship isn’t the strongest.

So what’s the good news lizards? I’ll take anything you got.

I’m mostly recovered from whatever this ailment is, I’ll find out early next week if it’s COVID (getting my test tomorrow… on my birthday… sigh), and I have eight new tires in the garage to be put on my two vehicles to keep them safe as we head into the winter season.

Wolf Creek opened today and will just be open on weekends until they get more snow. I thought about going, I went last year. But that would mean eight hours behind the wheel (four there, four back) and they have less snow than when they opened last year. I’ve done probably a half dozen Wolf Creek openings and they’re a little looser than the bigger operators when it comes to *where* you can ski early season, this is kind of by design. That said, the skiing at Wolf Creek with just a foot and a half of snow on bare ground is, how shall we say, spicy, and not fun for ski bases. No thanks. A-Basin opens tomorrow, seven days a week. Just looked online for a day ticket price, $99. So, no thanks. They’re selling at $59 mid week. I have an Epic Pass, and I’ll probably just wait until Keystone opens. I like the “one run” they have to offer this early, it’s got length and vertical. Loveland, also, has fine very early season skiing off of their sole high speed chairlift.

I got 3 granddaughters this year. 2 in July from my overachieving daughter and one in Sept from my miracle kid that survived a nasty car accident and then cancer - was told there was a chance he wouldn’t have kids. This is his second. So, where there’s life, there’s hope. Hugs to you.

The house I rented in South Miami back in the late 80’s had a tremendously prolific avocado tree in the side yard. In season I had to take grocery bags full of avocados to the office to get rid of them. On windy nights, the avocados dropping and hitting the ground outside sounded like someone was running up to the window. Luckily there was a bottomless crack in the rocky ground under the tree which made disposing of the inedible fruits easy.

Well, my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter had her second open heart surgery ( this one to replace her mitral valve) last week and came home last night. She’s the most amazing little kid. Despite spending a third of her life in the hospital, she’s the sweetest little kid. We video call most nights and you’d never know her chest was split open from the way she acts.

Here she is after being told she could go home yesterday.

Was that “bottomless crack” in the ground one of those characteristic S. Florida sinkholes?

You might have been lucky it was only the avocados that disappeared…..

Hollywood Workers Secure Deal With Studios, Likely Averting Strike
Workers in Hollywood created thousands of picket signs in recent days, but they may not need them after all.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE) reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with the major film studios late Saturday. The union had said that 60,000 workers would walk off the job if such an agreement hadn’t been reached by midnight Sunday night.

On the hopeful but still have fingers crossed front, my SIL is doing better after getting the infusion for covid; her grandson is back in school, and her son who went into pneumonia with 104 fever seems to be responding to the meds they gave him. NOT ivermectin.

On the purely happy-dance side, I have a new grandniece. (in Hawaii where I can’t visit her, drat it). Emma Grace, born 10/11/2021, weighed 10 lbs, 11 oz. Big little girl! Waiting to hear what her three big brothers think of the new addition once they’ve had her a few days. Her grandparents are flying over to see her next week, so I expect a lot of pics from my sister.

Also have another niece visiting, here in town for a Supernatural con and staying over a few more days. Means my kid has one of his big cuzzies here to pick on him and play video games, and I have somebody to work jigsaws with :)

I am of the opinion, probably not agreeable to some, that fast food and very cheap diners (such as WaffleHouse, IHOP, etc.) are bad for society.

It’s not just the health consequences.

Mostly, it’s that such establishments enforce the idea that labor ought to be cheap, that service is not to be highly valued, and that the social experience of eating (and for humans eating is a social experience) is to be devalued.

The franchising of such establishments furthers the divide between rich and poor.

After getting paged out twice on sort work space issues for our statistics job, yours truly went into a fit of pique, and created a new recipe for burrito meat that I’ll share with youse:

(1) One pound ground sirloin
(2) McCormick hot taco seasoning
(3) Additional cayenne, basil, and oregano seasonings
(4) Cheese
(5) Burrito wrap

The steps:
(1) Brown ground sirloin.
(2) Once sirloin is brown, transfer to a strainer and wash off all the fat (important step!)
(3) Add 3/4 cups of water into pan
(4) Add seasonings as listed above, stir and let simmer for 20 minutes covered
(5) Heat burrito wrap in microwave for 15 seconds until nice and floppy
(6) Spoon in seasoned meat onto burrito wrap
(7) Add cheese topping
(8) Wrap up and close burrito

Enjoy!
(5) Broing to boil, and them let it simmer for 20 minutes

So now we know why the site is named Little Green Footballs. It’s named after your avocado tree.

Thanks for this magnificent guitar performance. I am not a fan of the song, but wow this fellow can make a guitar sit up and beg or roll over and play dead.

Well if you haven’t been following. I’m engaged and my Hand Fasting dress dress showed up the other day and it actually fits. Oh, and the U.S/Canadian border opens on the 8th.

And you’d be… wrong.

It has something to do with when Charles was in Japan when he was, like, 20 years old. And that’s all I’ve been able to ascertain after about 16, 17 years of reading the blog.
