Were their boats destroyed? Odd they didn’t follow the coastline south a ways….

The Newfoundland group was an extension of the Greenland colonization effort. It was never supported from home (Norway.) We have to remember that some of the people who went west were already persona non grata at home.

This little shredder has been a pretty amazing value - it’s an Amazon Basics model. Here’s the latest version, only 40 bucks!

I don’t put a huge amount of documents through it, it’s not an industrial strength model, but it’s lasted years, and then when it jammed I could ACTUALLY FIX IT MYSELF, an incredibly rare phenomenon these days.

The Amazon Basics 12-sheet crosscut shredder I have doesn’t get a lot of use, but it’s never had an issue; however, it’s always a good idea to clean the paper path every so often, especially if you use your shredder regularly::

What should I believe for Oklahoma? Johns Hopkins which shows a 7 day average of 0 deaths for the past 3 days? Or Worldometer which shows 7 day average of over 100 for those same days — as well as showing over 150 deaths per day over past 5 days? As of 10/19, Johns Hopkins shows accumulated total of 9,402 deaths while Worldometer has 10,376. Really like the Worldometer display — but which is more accurate or is neither one reliable.

No database collected from up to 3000 sources is accurate. It can still be useful if it is always inaccurate in the same ways, and if you have a good appreciation of what the weaknesses are. Welcome to the social sciences.

It looks like my state attorney general is setting up so the state can waste our tax money to go after Nebraska Medicine (the state-run school the governor wants shuttered) and hospitals.

Prescription of Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine as Off-Label Medicines for the Prevention or Treatment of Covid-19 (internal link to a PDF with an opinion from Nebraska State Attorney General Doug Peterson)

TL;DR, the head of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services asked a legal opinion on whether hydroxychloroquine or Ivermectin could be prescribed by physicians.

The AG noted a study in The Lancet “denouncing” that usage, then immediately said the data was flawed (because he’s a lawyer, not a doctor, Jim).

He then points to “off-label” use saying as long as a physician doesn’t proscribe dangerous amounts of either those or any other drug to “treat” Covid-19, then his office is fine with it.

Willard did vote in favor of conviction both times, but Mr. 47% showed his true character when he met with Trump for a possible cabinet position. And even earlier, back in 2012, when he refused to take credit for the ACA. He’s a plutocrat, who will take any position if it will further his goals of gaining more power. But he does deserve some credit for his votes on impeachment.

Meanwhile, the studies often cited as “proof” that these drugs have potential antiviral properties list dosages way outside the points approved by the FDA as safe for humans. And that at the dosages considered such, the drugs are totally ineffective as treatments against COVID or any other viral infections.

This sounds like the standard “Right to Try” BS that you hear wingnuts spin when all the scientific evidence against their latest “miracle cure” has been debunked.
