In Sportsball news, Matt Wells is out as head coach at Texas Tech. This follows an incredible and embarrassing performance Saturday, when the Red Rioters led Kansas State 24-10 at the half, only to lose 25-24.

Matt Wells fired as Texas Tech head coach, Cumbie named interim

I’ll stop cause it’s all so damned obvious…

Let’s not forget that Joe doesn’t own a hotel where the Secret Service is staying, or charge them exorbitant rates to stay there. And “at Camp David” — a rural resort maintained by the government specifically for the president — is an important phrase in this sentence. At this point in his presidency, Trump had barely laid eyes on Camp David, which was too simple and rustic for his taste.

And

Oh, please.
The difference is that Biden is actually working and TFG never was.

Tell me about it. A while back I learned that someone I had recently met, and thought of as “a young guy” is actually 53.

I loved the little chords at about 15:15. It was a neat interlude between the single note soloing.

re: #213 A Three Hour Tour

Conservative “protestors” publicly using vulgar, sexualized language at a *school* and openly disrespecting authority thereby modeling bad behavior in front of impressionable young people, for shame! Are there no behavioral standards anymore?

Who would’ve guessed that their parents were secret liberals following he permissive parenting philosophies of that commie peacenik, Dr Spock?

If my brother acted like these people, both my grandfathers would’ve whipped him: one with a belt, the other with a razor strop.

///

For the record, I oppose corporal punishment for children and view my parent’s and grandparents ’ disciplinary procedures as child abuse.

Okay, you’re being sarcastic but there’s an underlying grain of something sinister to this behavior because it is demonstrating their value system.

Teachers and administrations are staff, and it’s perfectly acceptable to rain shit down on staff completely unchecked.

The secret ingredient to conservative hypocrisy is always the caste system they believe in and view themselves as towards the top of. Their morals, their mores, their etiquette…all of it is based in a calculation of relative caste worth.

These assholes are acting just like the teabaggers did in 2009-11. Rude, obnoxious jerks who will endlessly BS about their deep Xtian faith.

OK, that has to be embarrassing for the narco-LPV crew

To be fair, their first thoughts on seeing the square riggers mast & sails on the horizon likely wasn’t “They’re after us”

Also, it would be truly “classic” if the look out in the ships crow’s nest first spotted the LPV

Three outboards on the drug boat, and they still got run down and apprehended by a sailing vessel??

Embarrassing, indeed

Well they likely got run down by the RHIB launched from the sailing vessel, technically

Josh Mandel is a disgrace but then so is almost every single person who is a Republican officeholder or aspirant to office. The 9 Republicans who voted to hold Bannon in criminal contempt are less than a total disgrace — but still not good people.

Just like their pals in LAPD and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department who pal around with Andy Ngo and the Proud Boys. Add in the County Sheriff who opposes mask and is an anti-vaxxer.

re: #108 Eclectic Cyborg

God forbid we’d get some profiles on folks who decided TO GET VACCINATED rather than lose their job.

My wife and I went to Safeway in Scottsbluff today to get the booster shot. (The available choice is Moderna; Pfizer cannot be stored in the Nebraska Panhandle due to lack of infrastructure to keep it as cool as it requires.)

The Safeway pharmacy tech insisted the only people who could get the booster were people over sixty-five. My wife pointed out that those with health risks were included, the tech insisted that was not so; the state says otherwise.

While she was trying to pull up a state Website to show the vaccine is not available to anyone other than sixty-five, a clerk called the pharmacist, who told them to give us the vaccine.

After we finished our business at Safeway, we started home. Thirty miles out of Scottsbluff, my wife noted she couldn’t find our passports (in which we keep our vaccine cards).

Back to Scottsbluff; fortunately the little carrier we keep them in had been turned into the customer service desk. They called our house based on the info inside (though we weren’t home yet). We have our cards now.

My left arm is sore. My wife’s left arm is sore too, though she got her shot in her right arm. I presume my left-arm shot was contagious.

Yep. I was sailing in the Virgin Islands when a Coast Guard Cutter went by going the other way. They deployed a rigid inflatable with 6 Coasties, all with long guns. They buzzed up to our boat and asked permission to board. I asked if they wanted me to luft the sails, they said it’s not necessary and stepped on. 4 boaarded and two in their boat which pulled away to a safe distance. My cousin wanted pics so he popped below to get his camera, when he came up with the camera the Coasties all had their rifles aimed at him. Fun times. I think some of our pirating shenanigans got reported.

The ‘Fake Christian’ Deflection and Contrarian Concern Trolling: How Not to Write about Evangelical Authoritarianism Religion Dispatches, August 25, 2021, Chrissy Stroop

This sort of trolling almost always comes from so-called liberal Christians, by cherry-picking parts of the Old or New Testaments to support a liberal interpretation (notably quoting Matthew 25 out of context about welcoming the stranger into your home).

Comments on Worldometer coronavirus front:
My Saturday afternoon prognostication that Florida would move from 9 to 7 on the list of deaths per million did not come to pass. On one hand, I remain skeptical about the accuracy of counts from Florida; Death Santis will do anything to conceal the truth. OTOH, I am doubling down and predicting that Thursday night will see this change, based on the Monday night counts.

It’s not just Florida that is an issue. At one time, states seemed more interested in releasing data on a timely basis; now it’s not only weekends where many states skip reports; several seem to do so regularly, thereby our daily statistics misrepresent the actual state of the coronavirus in our nation. It does appear 7 day averages are a better reflection of trends, but there often seem to be longer than 7 day delays in certifying cause of death.

re: #35 Hecuba’s daughter

That was my rant back a few months. the data is useless on anything less than weekly statistics and I don’t trust any Republican state to have enough ethics be honest. I may have a somewhat flexible morality but at least I have ethics.
