A Study in Contrasts: Trump’s Health Report vs Joe Biden’s Health Report

First, a screenshot of the single-page document Donald Trump expected us to accept (and yeah, he wrote it himself, which we all knew anyway):

And now, the 6-page health report President Biden’s physician just submitted to the public record:

It was all a con in plain sight
How stupid did he think we are/were?

Well we let him
The media let him
The Rs let him
They wouldn’t convict him when they could
Hell they encouraged him

We all knew it was lies
The Rs know it’s all lies

They don’t care

I wouldn’t class Kevin McCarthy as a “tragic” figure - pathetic, yes; tragic not so much.

Not that I’m any authority, but just going on memory, I can’t recall any House Leader (of either party) less impressive/effective/respected. And said disregard very well-deserved…

San Diego County is now reporting vaccination rates for the 5+ population ( 3,147,936 individuals). This of course adds a bunch of young people to the population size, and so vaccination rates are now lower than when they were reported for 12+.

We are at 74.3% fully vaccinated (5+) and 82.9% with at least one dose.

Hopefully the numbers will rise rapidly over the next couple of weeks. Thanksgiving holiday will interrupt vaccinations, though, and increase transmission.

A defense attorney for Kyle Rittenhouse blasted Republican lawmakers on Saturday for trying to “profit” from his client’s acquittal in the shooting deaths of two men, calling it “disgusting,” Business Insider reported.

“There’s a lot of people trying to profit on this, and I don’t think people should,” attorney Mark Richards told Business Insider.

“They’re raising money on it, and you have all these Republican congressmen saying come work for me,” he added. “They want to trade on his celebrity, and I think it’s disgusting.”

Richards also called Donald Trump Jr. “an idiot.” after he announced a gun organization planned to award Rittenhouse an AR-15.

We went Xmas shopping yesterday for the Adopt-a-Family program. Couldn’t believe how crowded commercial land was — but everyone was masked. It’s pretty cut-n-dry, Coastside Hope provides a list (age, sizes for top, bottom, shoes, and wish list for the kids). We had a girl (9) and boy (3) on our list…that always makes it fun (two years ago I had a 13 year old girl who was into kick-boxing — totally kitted her out).

Anyway, we must be getting better at this because we pretty much knocked everything off the list in about two hours. (we throw a big-ass Target gift card in because you never know what families really need).

Much hilarity ensued in Russia this summer about this. Biden being a barely sentient houseplant with all sorts of mental and physical problems was a standard feature of Russian state propaganda for months. Then, Putin and Biden had the summit in Switzerland, and at the end of that Putin said on camera that Biden was at the top of his game, very sharp and engaged. Oops. Days and days of amusing backpedaling on the networks, swearing up and down that they never called Biden a gibbering idiot, nossir, it was those guys over there who were saying all that shit…

They will ask for cuts to preserve face but they wouldn’t dare tank this.

Meanwhile

Manchin has been steadfast that he will not change the filibuster. But he was also steadfast that he’d be able to work out a compromise bill that would gain the necessary Republican support. The Freedom to Vote Act was that bill, however, and it got zero Republican votes. So, he is going to have to concede that the filibuster needs to be changed, or else he’s going to have to concede that bipartisan change is not possible and that protecting voting rights isn’t that important to him.

Malvina Reynolds - God bless the grass

Malvina Reynolds
God bless the grass that grows thru the crack.
They roll the concrete over it to try and keep it back.
The concrete gets tired of what it has to do,
It breaks and it buckles and the grass grows thru,
And God bless the grass.

God bless the truth that fights toward the sun,
They roll the lies over it and think that it is done.
It moves through the ground and reaches for the air,
And after a while it is growing everywhere,
And God bless the grass.

God bless the grass that grows through cement.
It’s green and it’s tender and it’s easily bent.
But after a while it lifts up its head,
For the grass is living and the stone is dead,
And God bless the grass.

God bless the grass that’s gentle and low,
Its roots they are deep and its will is to grow.
And God bless the truth, the friend of the poor,
And the wild grass growing at the poor man’s door,
And God bless the grass.

Lets face it, considering the videos that were disallowed as character evidence by the judge, he’s no innocent naif. He’s not going into this eyes veiled, he’s leaning into it.

The SNL cold opening had Judge Judy interviewing the judge, who slips at one point and calls Rittenhouse his client.

It also featured two progressives, a white woman and a black man. They were asked if they were shocked with the woman saying she was and the black man disagreeing.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. Put my instant pot to good use last night and made a batch of hummus. Best batch I’ve made by far. I made it from the dried chickpeas, so no overnight soak. I use fresh lemon, lemon zest, za’atar, and EEVO plus Trader Joe’s tahini, which is surprisingly good for flavor and texture. 1 cup of beans to 4 cups of water with a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to cook the beans under pressure. Controlled quick release to stop cooking after 50 minutes under pressure. Mix until desired consistency in a food processor with eyeballing of the other spices and ingredients.

How about one that says, “I can see you and I know what you are doing.” And that message coming from someone you never heard of.

This cracks me up by the way:

A severe case of buyer’s remorse appears to have set in among some conservatives over electing Glenn Youngkin as the next Republican governor of Virginia.

Over the past week, outrage has bubbled over among right-wingers and TrumpWorld allies alike, who are under the impression Youngkin has insufficient MAGA loyalty, citing his hiring of an LGBTQ staffer and his refusal to block COVID-related local mandates.

The hits started pouring in against the fleece-clad governor-elect earlier this week after he declared he would not attempt to block local vaccine and mask mandates across the Old Dominion—a break from more hardcore Republican governors like Florida’s Ron DeSantis.

Right-wing media figures almost immediately began publicly bashing the governor-elect. Judicial Watch founder Tom Fitton railed against Youngkin for refusing to stand up against “abusive” mask mandates, while right-wing outlet The Federalist tossed him under the bus for not being a “strong conservative governor.”

Right-wing talk radio hosts fumed as well. John Fredericks, who hosts a radio show on fringe channel Real America’s Voice, suggested Youngkin had turned on the Trump base that helped elect him. “Two weeks, post his election, here we go: Once again with another RINO alert,” he declared, accusing the millionaire Virginia gubernatorial victor of being a “Republican In Name Only.” Fredericks proceeded to slam Youngkin over only appearing on his radio program when he “needed” votes from the Steve Bannon sidekick’s hardcore MAGA fan base.

Elsewhere, right-wingers turned on Youngkin for the offense of having a staffer who identifies as part of the LGBTQ community.

Joshua Marin-Mora, a recent Georgetown University graduate turned Youngkin press assistant, faced a flurry of right-wing hate this week over “he/him” pronouns displayed in his Twitter bio.

“So, Youngkin chose a guy with pronouns in his bio to do his comms who also served on the Georgetown Latinx Leadership Forum and supports virtually everything Youngkin’s voters voted against,” blared Pedro L. Gonzalez, a writer for the influential conservative think tank Claremont Institute, in a series of tweets. When other Twitter users unearthed pictures of Marin-Mora wearing LGBTQ Pride clothing, Gonzalez snarled, “The new GOP is actually worse than the old GOP.”

If Youngkin has sort of Trojan Horse’d himself as a MAGAist, but actually tacks more to the center, I’ll be LMAO at all of the sad MAGA chuds.

Some were arguing that these vaccines are different than the traditional ones, but the body doesn’t care about the difference, and the excuses that people like Jack give are about having to do something to help others not the vaccine itself.

If the argument is the old vaccines are not good, a new kind would be regarded as good news, not bad news. Fine with me I like the idea of mRNA instead of partial or dead or gene modified virus.

Here’s the thing, MAGATs: You already elected him to the position. He can’t run for re-election in four years because, under the Virginia constitution, a governor can’t succeed himself. You can’t punish him for heresy, and he doesn’t need you anymore.

re: #78 Shiplord Kirel: Fan of Big Bird, Bert, and Ernie

I think Rittenhouse may turn out worse than Zimmerman. Though a total shit, the latter was at least a grown man who had some knowledge of how the world operates. Rittenhouse is a kid, an unusually naive and reckless one at that. He is a completely helpless pawn in the hands of people who have spent their whole lives manipulating the ignorant, and who are actually incapable of caring whether he lives or dies. I’ll be surprised if he is even alive in 10 years.

That or strung out and on the street.

It’s a good thing that the legal system has made it very clear that angry racists are in no way allowed to travel long distances and use semiautomatic rifles to enforce their will on those that made them angry. And it’s also very good that feeling betrayed doesn’t make people very angry.

I’m not encouraging anything like this at all, but pointing out that this sort of thing is hardly unheard of, and encouraging unhinged people to obtain deadly weapons and act out on those that piss them off isn’t exactly galaxy-brain strategy.
