“The domestic war on terror is here. It’s coming after half of the country,” says one protagonist. “The left is hunting the right, sticking them in Guantanamo Bay for American citizens—leaving them there to rot,” says another, over video of an individual in an orange jumpsuit being waterboarded.

This is not happening. And we think it’s dangerous to pretend it is. If a person with such a platform shares such misinformation loud enough and long enough, there are Americans who will believe—and act upon—it.

What I find fascinating is the reactionaries have two modes: accusing others of doing what they’re planning, and feeling that at any moment they’re going to victimized the way they’ve hurt everyone.

Both fantasies entitle them to indulge any sadistic or prurient impulse they have.

I had a nice bike ride today. The past month I’ve been exploring high pedal assist and using a lot of throttle. It can be addicting and I’m trying to break out of the habit. I’m practicing going slow, keeping it in pedal assist 1, not using the throttle, and turning the controller power down to about 75%. That allows me to ride down in the 12-13 MPH range without going faster than my pedaling. I can loiter down to 2.6 MPH if I need to. I visited 3 city parks today, one has some hidden dirt trails which are fun to putt along in first gear.

There are posts with problems similar to mine in the Canon online support system forum, all the way back to 2017.

Damn it all
Why did google break their image search.
Chrome won’t let me right click an image and select a straight image search. Instead you search through some BS “Google Lens” app which selects which part of the image it’s sure you’re interested in. So you have to adjust the selected area to include the whole image, let it re-search, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select that you want to try a straight image search

Over the past couple of months many things in Chrome have failed for me. Lots and lots of things.

And Google search doesn’t seem right all the time too.

Don’t know what they are doing, but I’m way beyond convinced that by now our economy’s software infrastructure has become too complex to maintain.

From now on, entropy has capped what we can do. Compatibility, especially backwards compatibility, is the achilles heel to our digital existence.

45
Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus  Nov 22, 2021 • 12:36:16am

Speaking of which, continuing with my wrestling with the Canon camera software, the following bit of information seems relevant:

dpreview.com

Same advice shows up in other forums including on apple.com .

My iMac is set up so my own account has admin privileges but apparently that is not working.

So I’ve made another admin account. Will try that.

Regardless, I now believe that our modern Babble of computer applications and file types and data archives etc. are all heading us into a new dark age.

In centuries to come, when these computer thingies have all passed into dust, people will wonder why they can find records from the 1930’s but not the 2030’s.

They are simply patched together out of expedience without a lot of thought directed towards the long-term structure of any information system.

But that is just how we do things.

There is no reason the Canon software (DPP) should not install on my old iMac.

The software version downloaded from Canon is compatible with my OSX.

Indeed, I downloaded several older builds of the software. None will install.

Searching all my Mac’s library directories for Canon .plist files and anything else that could have been made by Canon - deleted everything I could find (only one item.)

Still won’t install. The Install application will unpack the files… then finish. But the files are not written anywhere.

I’ve checked my permissions.

Long have people struggled with the Canon software install process. Canon has their own software installer (they don’t use the default Mac AppStore utility.)

Sigh…

52
Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus  Nov 22, 2021 • 1:26:45am

I wanted to use DPP because I think it does a better job with raw files from older Canon cameras. It also corrects for lens distortions.

Guess I’ll have to use Photoshop. That is a bloated piece of software if there ever was one. I remember back, decades ago, with the original Photoshop. Ran on the original Mac line. It was simple, useful, and easy.

I only use 2% of what Photoshop does… but it can handle the Canon raw files so there’s that.

In early television there was a lot of changes to how people did their schtick (such as singing.)

By the time of the early 1970’s an entire generation of entertainers had turned over in TV (by then Milton Berle and Lucille Ball were nostalgia acts.) Yet much of the production was still stuck with the early-TV ways of thinking.

When Saturday Night Live premiered it really was still a stage act. One can see the early Vaudeville heritage in SNL.

Probably it was MTV which really shook up the idea of “television”. Music now was to be premiered on TV, not radio. And the music videos quickly developed into a style much more free from the old TV style (of imitating Vaudeville.)

One of the better old-fashioned comedy TV series was Laugh-In. Season 2 they got Nixon to come on:

Sock It To Nixon | Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In | George Schlatter

Late night comedy shows still, to this day, strike me as harkening back to the early 20th century. Not that much has changed in ideas. Sure, the technology has changed quite a bit. The concepts of a “show” and “comedy” really have not changed.

We need to include a regular curriculum in school on modern media and how to interpret the messages they send us. I spend a lot of time reminding my children the difference between a real life person and an Internet presence.

Trolls, disinformation spreaders and influencers are banking on our inability to do just that.

and our mainstream media figured out right away that it is a lot cheaper to just find some intern to mine the Internet for news stories than to pay investigative reporters.

Once people like Breitbart and Drudge figured out that all they had to do was float a story out there long enough and it would grow legs and get picked up and treated as if it had some merit, the rate of decline increased exponentially…

Children today have too much to learn.

There is no evidence that human cognitive capabilities have increased over the past centuries. Indeed, modern brain sizes are smaller than our hunter-gatherer ancestors.

Given that so many children these days are home schooled, or go to private religious schools, I suspect that if in middle school there was a class on surviving the internet that many parents would complain about the content.

Look at how gingerly biology teachers today have to skirt criticizing creationism.

Tell me, do high school history teachers really dive into the dark past of religions?

Children are a battleground for ideological wars.

The religious right have for many decades now been doing their best to undermine modern public education. Complaining about the 1619 project is just one in a long line of boogeymen in regards to education.

People want to be deceived. You read me correctly.

The carneys of old knew this. Donald Trump knows this.

Society in some very large part is about how we fill our time trying to avoid the fact that we are going to die someday, and the inventions we’ve made (e.g., religion) to salve ourselves from that pain are among our most precious fixtures in said society. If you want to challenge those fixtures you’re going to get a lot of push-back.

I didn’t know this was in the works, and I am really excited about this!

Amazon reinvents ‘The Wheel of Time’ for the small screen, with surprising turns

You won’t need to have read the sprawling, 14-volume fantasy saga to know instinctively that what you’re seeing on the Amazon series only skims its surface.

Feints are made to indicate the scope of Jordan’s world, and its history — a bit of dialogue here, a snippet of song there. Characters gets a moment or two to invoke their homeland, or their ancestry. But the ultimate effect is to cause the world underpinning the events depicted — the world that always seems to hover just offscreen — to insist upon itself, and always compete for our attention with the story we’re watching.

It’s not that the show looks cheap, by any means. There are plenty of breathtaking vistas and vibrant, richly textured costumes and elaborate sets. It’s just that it can’t help but feel scaled down, reduced, distilled, made for television. Something about the quality of light in certain scenes seems a bit too sharp, too clean, for a world lit only by sun and fire. The sinister Children of the Light, for example, wear cloaks so blindingly and pristinely white, even as they trudge through muddy forests, that you can’t help wondering about their OxyClean budget.

If the world of The Wheel of Time doesn’t come off as satisfyingly grimy and lived-in as the world of other fantasy series, and it never quite musters the sweep and scope of its older brothers — Jackson’s Lord of the Rings, HBO’s Game of Thrones — it does manage to tell its story in a way that’s compelling, unique and, frequently, surprising, full of narrative twists and character turns that even the most jaded fantasy reader might not see coming.

What Christianity looks like to those of us who were never Christians.

Montana state senator Teresa Manzella (R-Hamilton) said in a speech on a so-called “God, Country, Family” tour that gays who experience violence for being gay deserve it, and in any case it’s nothing compared to what Christ suffered.

She was speaking in support of a pastor/Realtor who accused a food bank in Missoula of trying to recruit children to Teh Geyh Lyfestyle.

The pastor drew a complaint with the Missoula Organization of Realtors and has an ethics hearing next month (in which he could lose his license).

She claims she was quoted out-of-context, so she posted her whole speech to Faceborg (which shows she was quoted precisely). She said violence against gays walking down the street holding hands is normal consequences for their actions.

Democrats in the state senate have called for her to be stripped of committee assignments, which she calls persecution for her religious faith.

She also accuses the media reporting on this of being in the hands of “leftists” and offers as evidence “just look up the Council on Foreign Relations” (disclaimer, I’m a member so it must be true).

(Not a chance in hell the Republican-majority controlled state senate is going to strip her of her committee assignments.)

re: #73 Shropshire Slasher

From the NPR link:

Early in the Amazon series, several of our doughty heroes escape from their isolated, bucolic village at night, via ferry. In hot pursuit: A hooded creature, dressed in black, astride a black horse — he’s a servant of a powerful malevolent entity called The Dark One, who has, it appears, returned after a long absence to threaten the world once again.

Huh, I thought. How about that.

That certain elements of The Wheel of Time would echo elements of The Lord of the Rings seems inevitable, of course. Tolkien’s massive work inspired scores of imitators, and later, interpolators — […]

But for a scene so early on to so closely map itself over one of the more memorable events in The Fellowship of the Ring — both the Tolkien book and its Peter Jackson film adaptation — seemed to bode ill.

That is one of the scenes in WoT for which I wrote the criticism in my short review. Yip blocked that shot too much like PJ, the costumes are too similar, the lighting too similar.

Linux—->Darktable—->Gimp in my future.

I just loaded DPP and the file manager to a Windows 10 machine—there was a learning curve as a first-timer. Canon required the serial number from my used T6i.

Good bad or ugly I look forward to watching. I have read all the books, starting when I was in college. It is a nice escape, and to read all of the characters names again and remember how they grew and evolved in the book makes me look forward to this series.
I have not yet watched the series, and the parallels with Tolkien can’t be ignored. I would consider it more of paying homage.

re: #79 Shropshire Slasher

Comments in Youtube channels who are reviewing WoT are full of people complaining about Amazon “ruining” the books, about Amazon being “woke”, etc. etc. etc.

If you love the books, please keep in mind that a TV adaptation is a different kind of thing. Turning a piece of literature into a stage act (or in modern times, TV) is something that by nature changes the original creation into a new product.

By which I intend this: reading is a highly active process, the reader must conjure in her mind the images and sounds as described on a page. This means each reader has a unique interpretation of a story.

But a video production forces a visual and audio experience onto the consumer. It’s a much more passive activity for the consumer than being a reader of a story.

So so many people who complain about adaptations do not really accept this.

The Amazon series cannot be what you have experienced in reading WoT. It will be something different.

Joint Stipulation to Dismiss (US Supreme Court docket, 17 November, 2021, one page)

The Washington state “I’m not selling flowers to Teh Geyhs” case is over. It has been nine years. She claimed it offended her Christian faith.

The flower shop owner has agreed to pay the two men $5,000 to settle the case. They are donating the money to PFLAG. She is also retiring and closing her shop. The winners are the Christian culture warriors at Alliance Defending Freedom, which represented her and raised bucketloads of money off the case.

Summary of the case: They tried to buy flowers for their wedding. She refused. They went to court. She appealed to the state Supreme Court. She admitted in court that selling flowers to atheists, divorcees, or Muslims was not a problem, only Teh Geyh. The court found unanimously she is a bigot.

She appealed to the US Supreme Court, which refused to hear the case. The US Supreme Court still threw out the Washington court decision, saying they should rehear the case in light of the Masterpiece Cakeshop decision in Colorado (where Colorado’s Equal Rights Commission was found to have discriminated against the cake shop).

The state supreme court again ruled unanimously that she is a bigot. She appealed again to the US Supreme Court in July, essentially arguing it’s a Christian’s right to be a bigot against Teh Geyh.

A few days ago, she and ADF asked the Supreme Court to toss the case as they would settle out-of-court.

The reason is the Freedom from Religion Foundation made a complaint to the IRS that he was using his church for political purposes in violation of the law.

If I was a cynic, I would think Hagee was trying to keep his tax-exempt status.

We watched the first episode Friday…the missus dozed off before the gore fest so we’ll have to re-watch it before looking at episode two. The mountain people were definitely living in a multi-cultural nirvana and the red headed lad was just a couple of talking goats away from breaking into song early on. The attack of the horned ogres or whatever was a welcome relief and indicated that winter was coming. I did feel bad for the guy who axed his pregnant lady - she seemed like an interesting character, but didn’t further the plot because barely three minutes passed between his laying her down with the other victims and his hopping on a horse to follow the hot magic cougar woman with the others.

I’ll be looking forward to how this story develops. Obviously, my above analysis probably wouldn’t get me a job as the next Siskel or Ebert.

I’d almost forgotten about this…the aquifer is under about eight states. Mississippi sued because they said Memphis was sucking too much water and that it was equally theirs. You’d think owning a big ass river that traverses half the continent would satisfy them…Mark Twain wrote a book about it. (/sarc)

Anyway, SCOTUS told Mississippi that Tennessee has more electoral votes so fuck ‘em.

The ‘person of interest’ in Sunday’s SUV attack in Waukesha, Wisconsin, who is being interviewed by police is Darrell Brooks, a 39-year-old amateur rapper from Milwaukee who was bailed out of jail days before allegedly plowing through crowds at a Christmas parade, killing five people and injuring dozens more.

Brooks was detained shortly after a red SUV ploughed into the annual Christmas parade in the town of Waukesha, leaving at least five people dead and 40 injured - including at least 12 children on Sunday night.

It’s bad enough knowing you’re going to spend some serious time in prison for killing a bunch of people at a holiday parade, but to be 39 and called an ‘amateur rapper’…that’s gotta sting.

There will be questions:

On November 5, Brooks was charged with felony bail jumping, recklessly endangering safety, battery, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, three days earlier on November 2.

He was ordered to not have any contact with a female victim.

Despite one of his offenses being felony bail jumping, the judge set a $1,000 bond, which he paid.

I did feel bad for the guy who axed his pregnant lady - she seemed like an interesting character, but didn’t further the plot because barely three minutes passed between his laying her down with the other victims and his hopping on a horse to follow the hot magic cougar woman with the others.

Not a bad summation of the first episode.

Lots of gnashing of teeth online about WoT. The habit of “toxic fandom” is really coming to the fore.

I don’t know what Amazon is hoping for by spending so much money on these productions. Sure, they want first run material for Amazon Prime, but I wonder how many people actually subscribe to Prime just to watch a show. I always felt that the video aspect of Prime was a plus but I can’t think of one show which was so must-see that I had to have Prime.

I don’t think WoT will be that must-watch show. The first three episodes just don’t grab me as, say, the first three episodes of Breaking Bad did.

Another vaunted leader goes off the deep end…

Boris Johnson praises Peppa Pig World and loses place during bizarre CBI speech

The Prime Minister was briefly lost for words on Monday morning and shuffled through his notes for almost half a minute during an address to the Confederation of British Industry.

Mr Johnson then shocked business leaders by talking about a visit to a Peppa Pig theme park.He said: “Forgive me, forgive me… oh blast it.

“I love it. Peppa Pig World is very much my kind of place: it has very safe streets, discipline in schools.

“Who would have believed that a pig that looks like a hairdryer or possibly a Picasso-like hairdryer, a pig that was rejected by the BBC, would now be exported to 180 countries with theme parks both in America and China?”

During a long and incoherent speech, Mr Johnson also quoted Lenin and referred to himself as Moses.

nines09  Nov 22, 2021 • 8:26:11am

Good day all.
I was in Jr High. Not sure of the grade. It was either a trolley ride or 6 block walk to my school in North Philly. I was walking. I remember vividly seeing an old woman sitting on a stoop crying. I asked her if she was alright.
All she said between sobs was “They killed him. They killed him.”
I asked “Who was killed?”
She answered “Kennedy. They shot Kennedy. They shot him.”
I was stunned and had a few blocks to go. When I got home I told my mother what I heard, and she told me he was shot in Dallas.
Stunned.
Then on Sunday we were watching TV as Lee Harvey Oswald was being moved in the police HQ as we witnessed him being shot live on TV and the mayhem that ensued.
I just lost it. All I could say to my parents was “Was that real? Was that real? Was it real?”
Yes. It was.
And the ensuing investigation was my introduction to conspiracy theories.

No, it was “their” street. This is what lies behind all “self-defense” and Stand Your Ground pleas: White People defending White Turf.

That’s exactly what the defense with in their closing argument: “SCARY BLACK MAN!”

“You heard about Satilla Shores from several witnesses who came to talk to you about what they were experiencing in this once-idyllic neighborhood,” the attorney advised. “A neighborhood that was once a place where elderly would walk at night, kids would play after dark.”

Sheffield said that his client, Travis McMichael, noticed the change in the neighborhood because of messages posted on Facebook.

“This neighborhood was being covered in suspicious persons, extra watches, neighborhood patrols and concerned citizens,” he explained. “The types of things these neighbors would talk about to each other was about the crime that was being committed to them, to their neighbors, crime that they had seen happening across the street from them.”

“They told you that what was happening in their neighborhood scared them,” he continued. “It caused them concern, it was unsettling to imagine people lurking and sneaking around your property at night.”

Sheffield went on to call the incidents “frightening” and said that neighbors were “very scared” before Arbery, a Black man, was killed by McMichael.

“White fright.” That’s the entire point of this closing “argument,” to put into the minds of the 11 white folks on the jury that this is totally something that could have happened to any of them in their own neighborhoods. That things were quiet and idyllic until “those people” moved in with their crime and their different cultures. And that you can’t go out your own front door without worrying that “those people” are break in and rob you blind.

The common theme is that their reality is their emotional life. If they’re scared, it means the thing is scary and thus responding with anger or violence is intuitively correct. From that position, you find truth by acknowledging only data that confirms the base assumption. If the bed is too short, the guests must be broken to fit the bed.

Just went for a brief dip into hell, checking in on SMOTI and the doings at Gateway Pundit. Jim is all in on the notion that the Waukesha suspect is a politically motivated BLM terrorist retaliating for the Rittenhouse verdict. He puts heavy emphasis on the suspect’s “career” as a half-ass wannabe rapper. To Jim’s audience this is good as being a crazed Mau-Mau machete swinger.
He also boasts that he identified the suspect by name a full 10 hours before the mainstream media did. Actually, I did the same here but, unlike Jim, I put the text behind blinds and emphasized that it was unconfirmed and might be total bullshit. To the SMOTI mob, the ordinary precautions exercised by professional journalists are a conspiracy to suppress bad news about crazed BLM operatives.

3 arrested after dozens ransack a Nordstrom store near San Francisco, police say

It almost always sucks to see your neighborhood on CNN.

Back in the mid-1990’s there were news reports of a gang of Albanians along the East Coast shoplifting. Supposedly the gang would send in multiple pairs of women who would attempt to overwhelm the store’s security team, then shoplift and leave with merchandise. If the security team caught any of the shoplifters, the rest of the group would create enough commotion and drama so that the detained woman could escape.

My presumption on what finally happened to that group is that the plan only needed to fail once. And that is likely what happened.

I suspect that the same is going to happen with the current smash and grab thieves

Unfortunately in this country, it seems like ‘self-defense’ pleas require gun ownership in practice as it’s main, and sometimes only, determinant factor. This should be slam dunk case, especially as incriminating as the one McMichael was. But I still hold my doubts.

There is, by now, a standard playbook on how to set us all at each other’s throats.

1. Use sock puppet accounts to field test tweets/Facebook messages designed to generate outrage on a hot-button issue
2. Measure which messages generate the most action
3. Signal-boost the winners via the botnets to flood social media
4. Bloggers pick up the outrage and signal-boost further
5. Hate radio picks up from the bloggers
6. Fox News picks up from radio
7. Trump/Boebert/Cruz repeat & the insane rumor becomes incontrovertible FACT

Meanwhile Russia is deploying 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border. And will be in a good position to invade it. Russia is also currently doing preparatory psyops.

The U.S. has shared intelligence including maps with European allies that shows a buildup of Russian troops and artillery to prepare for a rapid, large-scale push into Ukraine from multiple locations if President Vladimir Putin decided to invade, according to people familiar with the conversations.

That intelligence has been conveyed to some NATO members over the past week to back up U.S. concerns about Putin’s possible intentions and an increasingly frantic diplomatic effort to deter him from any incursion, with European leaders engaging directly with the Russian president. The diplomacy is informed by an American assessment that Putin could be weighing an invasion early next year as his troops again mass near the border.

The information lays out a scenario where troops would cross into Ukraine from Crimea, the Russian border and via Belarus, with about 100 battalion tactical groups — potentially around 100,000 soldiers — deployed for what the people described as an operation in rough terrain and freezing conditions, covering extensive territory and prepared for a potentially prolonged occupation.

Ah yes, the Taurus ‘Judge’.

It’s a gimmick, designed to hold .410 shotshells as well as 45LC ammunition. In order to do so, they had to drastically extend the cylinder of the revolver. Which makes it even heavier, larger, and more unwieldy that it would normally be. And the short barrel, cylinder gap as well as the general low power of the .410 shotshell kind of make the whole thing even more pointless.

well, damned if, after two hours of screaming at a soldering iron to query why it wouldn’t melt the gd solder, I managed to hook two new pickups into my bargain basement tele, which now has some nice damned seymour duncans installed. I’m just going to say, soldering for the first time is one hell of an adventure. I managed to burn a strip of insulation off one wire yesterday, but I thought about it overnight and realized that it all it was doing was grounding from the back of the volume pot to the body of the guitar, so because it wasn’t actually carrying any kind of load, I just wrapped the bare spot with electrical tape and moved on (just on the off chance that the bare spot might touch and short something else). The les paul is getting the custom pickups installed by someone who’s done this more than once. I’m willing to pay for that!

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A judge on Monday officially exonerated four young African American men of the false accusation that they raped a white woman seven decades ago, making partial and belated amends for one of the greatest miscarriages of justice of Florida’s Jim Crow era.

At the request of the local prosecutor, Administrative Judge Heidi Davis dismissed the indictments of Ernest Thomas and Samuel Shepherd, who were fatally shot by law enforcement, and set aside the convictions and sentences of Charles Greenlee and Walter Irvin. The men known as the Groveland Four, who ranged from 16 to 26 at the time, were accused of raping a woman in the central Florida town of Groveland in 1949.

“We followed the evidence to see where it led us and it led us to this moment,” said Bill Gladson, the local state attorney, following the hearing in the same Lake County courthouse where the original trials were held. Gladson, a Republican, moved last month to have the men officially exonerated.

The men’s families said maybe this case will spark a reexamination of other convictions of Black men and women from the Jim Crow era so those falsely convicted can have their names cleared.

It was easier for the British because they had far fewer slaves (less than 1 million), it was a wealthier country at the time (what with all the loot from India,) and they were able to pay compensation to the slavers (the last payments were not made until 2014). There was also an exception for sizable parts of India, where slavery persisted for decades. They fought many bloody wars against slavery and the slave trade outside their empire until well into the twentieth century, (the liberated regions then being incorporated into the empire, conveniently enough.)

This is a sensitve issue with me because of a massive push by British jingoists to portray their empire as a crusade against slavery, which is also how it was framed in Victorian times. I was reading a Canadian textbook account of former slaves settling in Nova Scotia after the Revolution. These were people who had been freed in return for service in the British army. You could read this entire lengthy article and never gain a clue that slavery was legal in much of the British Empire at the time and would remain so for another 50 years. It actually said, “Enslaved Americans lost their hope for freedom with the Treaty of Paris,” falsely implying that imperial forces intended to liberate all the slaves in the Americas.

The same sort of false inference is invited in British coverage of the War of 1812, which emphasizes the liberation of slaves during the invasion that led to the burning of Washington in 1814, as though that was a primary mission. Well, if the British West Indies fleet (the primary force involved) was so determined to free slaves, they could have returned to their base in Jamaica and freed the slaves who worked the dockyards there.

I’ve always gone under the assumption that using shotshells against snakes was a tool looking for a use.

I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but if I see a snake in time to shoot it, my preference is to just get out of the way. And, otherwise, if it is close enough to strike me before I see it, my assumption is that any attempt to shoot endangers my body parts.

For a counterpoint…

I did know a guy who swore that he and an acquaintance of his were rowing an aluminum rowboat through a swamp when a snake fell from a tree on to the boat. Right between the friends feet.

The acquaintance, who was wearing a holstered pistol, instinctively fast drew his pistol and fired a shot. Which, miraculously hit and killed the snake. And missed the friend’s feet.

Of course it also put a hole in the bottom of the boat. Which started sinking.

Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes resign from Fox News, protesting ‘irresponsible’ voices like Tucker Carlson

Hayes and Goldberg announced Sunday night that they have resigned from Fox. The pair wrote in a blog post for The Dispatch, their online home, that Tucker Carlson’s “Patriot Purge” propaganda film was the last straw.

“Fox News still does real reporting, and there are still responsible conservatives providing valuable opinion and analysis,” the men wrote. “But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible,” and Carlson is the case in point.

“This is not happening. And we think it’s dangerous to pretend it is,” the Goldberg and Hayes wrote. “If a person with such a platform shares such misinformation loud enough and long enough, there are Americans who will believe — and act upon — it.”
