I watched his press conference yesterday and he actually made sense. Said the gun laws are lax and need to be tougher, that law enforcement is frustrated with people who violate gun laws getting light sentences and getting done with one charge and end up charged again because of lack of consequences. He said if the laws were tougher these crimes would not be so common. Not sure what his backpedaling is about.
This is Michigan, militia territory. Probably received an onslaught of calls from NRA members who feel our gun laws are too strict.

My extended family were reliable Dems in my dadās generation (farmers in Illinois), but the next generations became increasingly attracted to local Republicans who then took that support to presidential elections. I guess it was dumb to post based on a tweet from an opinion I havenāt even read. But Iāll own it. I stand by my other points. My extended family were reliable Dems in my dadās generation (farmers in Illinois), but the next generations became increasingly attracted to local Republicans who then took that support to presidential elections. Their kids (in their 20s and young 30s) became Trumpists. The message was lost in there somewhere.
Sounds like the switch occurred when Democrats started openly supporting minority rights, like what happened here in Texas.
Iāve made the same points in my head to Anymouseās posts, but the difference is that IF BBB passes, there will be something to showāyou canāt let that go to waste, and you canāt get the message across entirely with media ads. There has to be groundwork. Thatās all.

We also read it in the 9th grade (in 1964). We had a super-religious kid in our class who was sophisticated enough to recognize it as an attack on his superstition and complain about it. Incidentally, Miles Hyman, whose graphic novel adaptation of āThe Lotteryā was banned, is the grandson of the storyās author, Shirley Jackson.
He would have been Amish, and yes, a story about people stoning a sacrificial victim in order to bring in a good harvest, because thatās the way itās done, would probably have had the Amish squeaking around uncomfortably in their desks.
