Wow:
Detroit Free Press-Feds: FBI informant tried to help the Whitmer kidnap plot suspects

The feds caught a rat.

According to an explosive new court filing, a rogue undercover informant was a double agent, secretly trying to help the Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot suspects snatch the governor, tipped one man off that the feds were onto the group, and tried to thwart their arrests and continue the scheme.

This same informant offered to use a drone to carry out domestic terrorism acts, records show, and use charity funds to pay for attacks.

But the feds caught on to him and booted him from the case.

He was known as Steve, one of four rogue actors in the Whitmer investigation who have been kicked off the case over misdeeds that the defense hopes to use to derail the government’s case at trial in March.

It’s been a demonstration of just how something like the 1/6 coup even happened. As I’ve had to say multiple times before, to be a Dem in this country is to be held to blame for every fucking thing under the sun, because only Dems are to be held responsible for anything, especially Republican sins.

A former Trump White House official said then-President Donald Trump initially refused to tweet the words “stay peaceful” as the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, was escalating,” CNN reports.

“The former official, who was working in the West Wing and was close to White House messaging during the insurrection, said Trump did not want to include the words ‘stay peaceful’ and was ‘very reluctant to put out anything when it was unfolding.’”

Instead, the former official said Trump was “letting it play out.”

40
Ace Rothstein  Jan 6, 2022 • 4:34:48pm

re: #39 Dangerman

Why would he ask for it to stay peaceful? He wanted people to die, it’s not complicated.

41
lawhawk  Jan 6, 2022 • 4:34:52pm

All these dumbasses who thought that Trump would cover their legal bills are dumber than a bag of hammers. There’s no way Trump was going to spend a single dollar of his on anyone else’s legal bills. He’s not paying his own bills - he got the RNC to do that for him.

That’s all you need to know about Trump and money and loyalty. It’s always what’s best for him when he thinks he’s the smartest in the room.

Let them all sue each other and run up legal bills, while prosecutors get their cases sharpened thanks to others having some of these fucknuts spilling their guts to save their own hides.

I was thinking about Bari Weiss’s “they thought they were protecting democracy, and so….” argument. It does have some application. For example, the three young men killed and maimed absolutely thought they were protecting protesters from a deranged youth with a high-powered weapon. Trayvon Martin thought he was protecting himself from an unhinged man who attacked him for no reason. The list goes on and on and in these cases actually applies. Not to 1/6, though. That was a massive attack on democracy no matter what they thought.

re: #124 The Pie Overlord!

OK I am making liddle pies tomorrow and I can’t decide between liddle chocolate creams or liddle key limes.

I know, I know, I would love to make both but there are only 2 of us here.

Liddle Key Limes. It’s scurvy season. Save your bones!

Hey Tweedle-Dumbass, just a hint: When you upend over 200 years of American tradition just because your ego is so big you can’t stand even the idea that you lost a popularity contest, there are CONSEQUENCES. Do you know what those are? No? Well, y’all are in for a fun ride.

Back in NM, at 6,000 ft. altitude, we would enjoy a 30 degree (F) spread in a day’s temperature. Here in OR, today’s ‘forecast’ has a three degree spread. Three. I think we covered it. Sometimes it stopped raining.

Tonight’s low is -22 °F. Tomorrow’s high is 31 °F. Is that swing-y enough?

Wife, Daughter2, and a friend booked a stay at the Disney animal park hotel—the one with night vision goggles in your room. That was a couple months ago, and they just cancelled. A trip into Florida’s kind of uncertainty needs a really powerful reason.

I could do without those collar ruffs.

Other than that, 1590 costumes are attractive. (but from what I can see of the corsets… not at all comfortable).

What can be misleading is that Florida deaths are assigned to the date the person died, not the date reported. So there could be 50 deaths reported today but if the people all died before today, the deaths are assigned to past dates and today may show 0 deaths. But I don’t believe anything from Florida or Texas.

Just on a lark, I tested myself today to see how my French was, to see what it would take to get it up to “let’s go to France and be comfortable” territory. Apparently not much, it’s at B2 level (CEFR levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). (I already knew my reading skills were good, it’s my oral/listening skills.) I really should be learning Japanese but it’s so tempting to just invest the time to get my French up to “speaks with an accent but does better than just *try*” level.

Yeah, there’s a lot not to like about Macron, but I was impressed that he’d tell the French that he intends to put the non-vaccinated “into the shit” (“emmerder”). It *might* be safe to go and tour the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, and the other great sites of France. Maybe.

It’s too unpredictable to cross a border until Omicron burns out. You might find yourself stuck for several expensive weeks because of government or airline actions. It will probably fade into a mildly dangerous background disease after it has eaten through the unvaxxed.
