Another Shoe Drops: Jan. 6 Committee Subpoenas Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Others on Trump’s Legal Team

Politics • Views: 19,578

I have a feeling Rudy is sweating hair dye right now: House Jan. 6 committee subpoenas Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell.

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection issued subpoenas to members of former president Trump’s outside legal team on Tuesday who pursued and disseminated unfounded claims of mass election fraud, including Trump’s former personal attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani, former White House aide Boris Epshteyn, and lawyers Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell.

“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) said in a statement.

They’re all going to defy their subpoenas with bogus claims of executive privilege, of course, like all completely innocent people would do.

We know these numbskulls will commit contempt so what this really means is that the Committee already has all the evidence they need.

Akiva Cohen points out on Twitter that Rudy, at least, was Trump’s actual attorney, so much of what they might want from him is, in fact, privileged.

That privilege doesnt shield them in the investigation of a crime they committed together.

There’s attorney client privilege, but as Rudy knows, you can’t commit crimes or cover up crimes as a lawyer in coordination with your client.

That’s the crime fraud exception to the attorney client privilege, and Rudy should know that since he used that back when he wasn’t a shambolic stained shitgibbon for Trump.

The rest of them are likewise going to try and defy the subpoenas, which is exactly what someone who is innocent does. /to infinity and beyond.

These fuckers are guilty as fuck and know it. Everyone knows it, but unless the DOJ picks up the pace, the Trumpists are going to run out the clock and the DOJ will end up getting those cases shut down when GOPers retake the WH. That’s what is at stake, both with the midterms and 2024.

I’m also of the opinion that the 1/6 Commission should be doing one of these a day.

Today Rudy
Tomorrow Sidney
Day after Junior and Guilfoyle.

Keep bringing them. And when they refuse, refer the following day. Yeah, it’s a lot of work, but democracy demands it. It keeps it in the news and reminds everyone what’s at stake and that the Trumpist GOP are hiding from justice because they all know they’re guilty as fuck.

Was just going to post that. Still, they’ll definitely claim privileged communications anyway. Maybe Sidney Powell will file one of those patented batshit insane lawsuits against whoever.

Why isn’t this stuff on TV? I need amusement!

I am hoping this is just the beginning of many. I’m scared to hope for too much, but they have outright flaunted their shit, no way is all this madness legal. Especially the money and how it flows around them, all the grifting, not paying what they owe, screwing over “the little people”,etc.

I have a desk light that doubles as a wireless charger. More recently, I got a wireless charger that also has a solar panel on the other side, so you can set your phone down and set the charging brick on the back of it, and it’ll charge with solar power.

This is great, but how much power/influence does it have to even get taken seriously? I’m happy to see it, don’t get me wrong, but maybe getting their faces on TV and talk radio, popular internet channels, podcasts etc, would be helpful too. I hope it goes farther than a letter. I’m also in a “bad guys are winning, fuck!” mode lately, so YMMV of course.

While this is investigatory, by the time they’ve gotten up the food chain to Giuliani, etc., the lawyers on the committee and those working with the committee should have a very good idea of what they expect to get out of these high-profile witnesses. There really should be no major surprises.

Oh I agree. If it isn’t even mentioned on MSM, it’s just an empty gesture in and of itself.

BUT! Maybe, just maybe, some in the rethuglican caucus will hear their words and put their support behind a carve out for these two bills. ** Why yes, gentlemen, I just typed that…. Uhhhhh, what’s with the jacket??? **

I was going to mention this early but it slipped my mind.

During Clownstick’s cult revival in Arizona he spent a great deal of time trash talking Mark Kelly. This is absolutely infuriating to me. It made my blood boil. Mark Kelly is an American Hero in every sense of the word. Clownstick went on a rant about how Mark Kelly hates America and is a communist and a litany of other horseshit.

This “America Hating Commie”:
Was a US Navy A-6 Intruder Pilot. Served in Gulf War. Flew 39 combat missions.

According to Wikipedia: “Kelly has received two Defense Superior Service Medals; one Legion of Merit; two Distinguished Flying Crosses; four Air Medals (two individual/two strike flight) with Combat “V”; two Navy Commendation Medals, (one with combat “V”); one Navy Achievement Medal; two Southwest Asia Service Medals; one Navy Expeditionary Medal; two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; a NASA Distinguished Service Medal; and an Overseas Service Ribbon.”

Then he was an Astronaut. The epitome of American Heroism. He was on the crew of 4 different Space Shuttle flights including several stays on the International Space Station. He was in space for almost 6 months total. He piloted the final mission of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

Clownstick isn’t fit to utter the man’s name no less besmirch him.

A more vile man is difficult to imagine — or maybe Trump is more vile? A lecture from someone born into affluence on how the desperate poor should manage? Inbred cruelty. Spent the afternoon trying to get various software to work on my old iMac. Music managers, etc.

Sigh… most of it was a waste of time.

However I did sign up for the Tidal “HiFi” 3-month offer for $1.

I’ve not used music streaming (other than what comes with Amazon). I’ve streamed plenty of “radio” streams on iTunes long ago, though I’ve not cared to do so recently.

Anyway, Tidal works and looks to be decent as far as a library for older music.

Whether I’m hearing improvements over mp3 with the “HiFi” content… I don’t know. Much of the music does sound better than what I hear on Youtube (which uses compression.) Yet with my small desktop speakers (really cheap) it’s hard to tell.

I’ve already uncovered some holes in the Tidal library. Wish they had more Japanese old stuff.

Even if convicted in the next few years all of these Trump-sycophant criminals are counting on a full pardon in Jan 2025 along with a Cabinet position on top of that.

They will get it and more if our usual apathetic left-leaning voter turnout demographic once again fails to show up to actually vote. This country could rapidly become something very different starting early 2025.
