My idiot asshole anti-vax oldest brother emailed me a “YOU GOTTA SEE THIS” bullshit ‘research’ on vaccines…

People will eventually start to make the link between vaccination and the sudden, unexpected onset of neurological, cardiovascular, or immunological symptoms such as:

death (including death in your sleep)

COVID infection

cardiac arrest

pulmonary embolism

intracranial hemorrhage

Bell’s Palsy

Guillain-Barre

peripheral neuropathy

severe and persistent muscle spasms

menstrual issues (high flow, low flow, start, stop, timing)

Re-emergence of latent disease (cancers, shingles, etc.)

Worsening diabetes

and hundreds more serious adverse events that are obvious in VAERS but where the CDC is staying silent

I wonder if I should reply and ask him if his menstrual cycles have been adverse.

Or if his shingles are flaring up again. If we can survive this fucking mess, we have GOT to get wingnuts out of K-12 education. JFC, I am a suburban housewife who graduated high school(I also have some sort of certificate from a trade school type place that says I am an interior decorator, lol), and even I understand basic science and how bacteria and viruses work. And what will and won’t kill them or help prevent their spread.

Let the right wing and religious zealots homeschool or create their own schools without taxpayer funds. Then listen to them cry when their kids can’t get into college or tech school or even stay employed at a low paying job.

From the soundtrack of the 1994 film “La Reine Margot”. The film is based upon a historical novel written in 1845 by Alexandre Dumas, père. It is about the daughter of deceased King Henry II (Marguerite de Valois) during the French religious wars between the Catholics and Protestants.

The guitarist is Goran Bregović. Born of a Croat father and a Serb mother, and raised in the capitol of Bosnia-Herzgovina. When Yugoslavia split up, he found himself not sufficiently a member of any of the warring tribes.

At this point, the people left who this question applies to are largely the kind of people for whom “Ya’ll watch this!” is practically a mating call. The sort of people who insist they’re not going to be “that guy” occupying an ICU bed with tubes jammed down his throat as he lies in a medically-induced coma.

The cough? “Allergies.”

Wheezing? “Chest cold.”

Coughing up blood? “Fine, I’ll go to the doctor, but I’m tellin’ ya it ain’t COVID.”

Then they wheel into the ER with O2 stats lower than their IQ, looking whiter than a preacher’s sheets as they’re gasping for every breath, at which point they progress past Denial in a matter of minutes to hours: Anger that the “experts” can’t just fix them up with a “cure,” Bargaining with everybody from the docs to their deity of choice that they be given one of those “miracle cures” like HCQ or horse paste, ending up Depressed when their ass ends up in a bed with an oxygen mask and an IV drip, and then generally Acceptance of the vaccines just as they’re about to get put on the ventilator.

Some never get past the denial stage. Hypoxic, combative, raving either about the hospital faking the CoViD test or giving them the virus, being violent to staff. And if the hospital is lucky, only the patient is *cough* “difficult” *cough*, more often than not, all the next of kin are just as bad.

A boat is just a hole in the water you throw money in:

New York’s hottest club could be… a Staten Island Ferry.

“Saturday Night Live” stars and shaolin natives Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are behind the mysterious purchase at auction of the John F. Kennedy, a decommissioned ferry boat.

The pair, in partnership with Manhattan real estate broker and comedy club owner Paul Italia, spent $280,000 to purchase a boat that most ride for free.Italia, who spoke exclusively to the Post on Thursday, said the trio had “grand plans” for the ship.

“The idea is to turn the space into a live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art, et cetera,” he said.

“We’re in the early stages, but everybody involved had the same ambition — not to see this thing go to the scrapyard,” Italia said.

As it sits, however, the ship won’t even move under its own power.

Michael Robideau, 68, Tyler, TX, Gay conservative Anti-vaxxer, dead from COVID
According to social media posts below, Michael died from COVID on January 10, 2022. Michael is a rare bread, a gay conservative anti-vaxxer. This is only our third entry from the LGBT community, I think. What’s different than the other two is that at his age, he went through the 1980s AIDS epedemic, which Dr. Fauci fought so hard to understand and contain. Yet, Michael is not only anti-vaxx, but he also posted anti-Fauci memes which seems like an enormous disconnect. His significant other, Monty Etheridge, also a conservative anti-vaxxer got sick but recovered. Michael’s sister Pat Gifford, living in North Carolina, who was also an anti-vaxxer, died several days after Michael.

I got nuttin:

This Morning viewers have been left baffled by a couple who say they are ‘ecosexuals’ - and claim they are ‘married’ to the earth and give it ‘pleasure’.

Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, from San Francisco, appeared on the ITV programme today to speak with presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary about their sexual preference.

They explained that they have an ‘intimate relationship with our planet’ and ‘make love’ to the earth.

Viewers were left gobsmacked by the duo, with one person writing on Twitter: ‘I have no words to say what I think about these two. I mean, what the actual f*** are they going on about?!’

‘When you’re going for a walk you’re giving the earth a massage with your feet,’ suggested Beth, who said ‘all you have to do is love the earth to marry it’.

The presenters asked the couple how you become ecosexuals, with the duo claiming people can build their way up to ‘making love with the earth’.

Annie added: ‘You’ve got to put your heart into it and just open yourself up and let your erotic energy move through you and feel the tree and love that tree.’

The couple explained that people ask whether the tree has ‘consented’, with Beth replying: ‘But we can’t talk to the tree but we listen and try to sense whether the tree likes to be hugged or not.

I fully support “conservative” concepts like individual initiative, personal responsibility and a market-based economy.

But I do not see how forcing individuals and families with limited incomes and resources to negotiate one-on-one with multi-billion international corporations for terms of employment, insurance coverage or financial services promotes “personal freedom”.

And as much as I think that market is a good way to balance supply and demand while directing flows of capital to where they are the most beneficial, the market requires a solid infrastructure, both physical and legal/regulatory, in order to ensure that it works for the benefit of all participants: producers as well as consumers, employers as well as employees and borrowers as well as lenders.

No…it’s not as simple as that. This isn’t about taking advantage of ignorance, it’s about understanding that his whole bloc is motivated by mutually cynical utility.

Consider how this is a successful gaming of the court intrigue: his advisors are trying to control a child king, and the child king’s best move is to never give anyone full endorsement. Multiple endorsements means that Trump can’t be extracted from the center of the movement while the petitioners have to plead or trade for more recognition.

It’s not that his followers are purely stupid, it’s that they don’t care about consistency or ideology: Trump is more a pardoner than a general and his multiple endorsements will be viewed as a loyalty test —and justly done, since their whole operational premise is that the powerful can both be inconsistent in their loyalty (and morality, and beliefs) even as they demand greater displays of deference.

As always, it’s not stupidity, it’s the belief that there’s no need for epistemology since power is all that matters.

The next time your idiot asshole anti-vax brother sends you something that references VAERS, why don’t you ask him sweetly if any of the people who filed with VAERS bothered to submit a compensation claim with the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. Here’s the link: hrsa.gov

These liars have never submitted a compensation claim, and VAERS data can never be trusted.

he ‘deserves’ to be re-annointed

At the risk of excessive blueness:

It’s very hard to understand the internal logic of a city that chooses it’s leaders by skill at public horse fucking, to the degree that there’s decades of evaluatory criteria that are completely opaque to people that just can’t countenance horse fucking as entertainment.

Yet that is exactly where we are.

Historically, culture creates enclosed gardens in which increasing bizarre and abstract behaviors can become normal. The most radical hothouse orchid versions of this we view as cults…but societies can and do develop strange operating premises that allow the culture to persist even as it wounds and diminishes the participants.

What we’re perceiving is actually one of the more…routine…cultural adaptations: goon society, the embrace of hierarchy by people that believe they will receive their own slice of abuse-able power. They’ve accepted that they will be brutalized, but value the opportunity to obtain that total license—the ability to brutalize others—so much that they can’t contemplate a different arrangement of society. Position matters more than material outcomes…winning is not about obtaining a specific, concrete objective, it’s about distinguishing oneself from the lesser kinds of people.

What we’re watching from the outside is a kind of leadership contest in which each aspirant proves their mana by being as performatively callous and contemptuous as possible, by displaying their willingness to insult and harm the lower castes. The ground level participants in this aren’t stupid in the absolute sense, they’re making a statement of their values: other people matter less, sadism is fun and their fun is more important than Truth or Values or Identity.

Cawthorn’s working on the same level as a chan boarder:

If people don’t respond he’s gotten away with something, and that will entertain his followers.

If people respond it shows their weakness and fear, and that will entertain his followers.

…but also since his followers are an enclosed group interested in self-gratification by reinforcing their worldview (we are strong, they are weak; we are savvy, they are emotional) it’s not even really about provoking a reaction, it’s about the pretext to say that a reaction was provoked.

What actually happens in response doesn’t matter, what matters is the titillating story that the in-group constructs to gratify themselves.

As a comparison, back when Frank Sinatra sang, most of the songs were not considered owned by any one person. Sometimes, some types of songs just fit a certain type of person.

I used to know a record promoter who got his start as a song-plugger in the 1930’s. His job then was to convince bandleaders (the one with the right kind of singer, or a good radio timeslot) to add the song to their repertoire.

His employer measured his performance by sheet music sales numbers.

It’s the Daily Mail.

The entire article is designed to bait an emotional reaction, secondary to the “bait reaction” incentive that got this on This Morning in the first place. It doesn’t merit reaction, let alone a direct contempt for people that you’ve literally never met and quite possibly are only saying this shit to get attention, because there’s a whole third “bait to get attention” stratum undergirding all existence because attention now translates rapidly into money.

Devoting even a moment of emotional energy to this is the desired reaction.

It’s not worth, if for no other reasons than (1) the world is full of far worse people who aren’t harmless, (2) you probably regularly interact with people that fuck weirder.

Not sure what is going on but that is the 2nd jeez-this-is-really-not-good-for-trump piece in Politico this week. Two. In one week.

Rudy Giuliani Is in Trouble…
my 2 favorite lines:

- The Giuliani scheme was really quite simple, and really quite stupid.
- It is hard to convey how monumentally stupid this choice was

…Of Course, So Is Donald Trump…

…the plot is thickening all over the place—Georgia, New York, D.C., etc. At this point, the former president’s best hope may very well be to delay, delay, delay and then to die before his various cases can be resolved. Not an easy strategy to pull off, and not a particularly pleasant one to consider, if you’re him.

Netflix Inc. brought in more than 8 million new subscribers in the holiday quarter, but executives predicted that growth would suffer much more than expected at the beginning of 2022, sending shares screaming lower Friday.

Netflix on Thursday afternoon reported 8.3 million net new paid subscribers in the fourth quarter, trailing its own forecast for 8.5 million but roughly hitting the average analyst forecast of 8.3 million, according to FactSet, and giving the streaming-video service 221.8 million subscribers overall as of the end of 2021.

The number allayed the stark warnings of some analysts, including JPMorgan’s Doug Anmuth, who had feared a significant shortfall of new subscribers, but executives do see a precipitous slowdown ahead — they predicted just 2.5 million net new subscribers in the first quarter, less than half the 5.8 million that analysts were projecting on average, according to FactSet.

Netflix shares plummeted more than 20% in Friday morning trading, lopping off more than $50 billion in market capitalization from the streaming giant, which ended Thursday’s trading session worth about $225 billion.

Mother Opposed To Masks Threatens To Bring Loaded Guns To School

Page County Public Schools Superintendent Antonia Fox and School Board Chair Megan Gordon released a joint letter to the Page County school community on Friday, saying the school district “does not take these kinds of statement lightly.”

“Not only do comments such as these go against everything we wish to model for our students, they go against the very nature of how we as a community should interact with each,” the letter said. “Violence and threats are never acceptable or appropriate. This kind of behavior is not tolerated from our students, faculty, staff, nor will it be tolerated by parents or guests of our school division.”

At each school in Page County on Friday and Monday, police agencies will have an increased presence, the letter said.

The Luray Police Department, Page County Sheriff’s Office and the Page County Commonwealth’s Attorney are investigating this incident, according to the Luray Police department.

“The statement that was made absolutely caused public alarm, the parent that made the statement realized that, and immediately contacted law enforcement to apologize because the statement was not intended the way it was perceived,” the Luray Police Department said in a statement emailed to Patch.

The department said King is cooperating with law enforcement and that no arrests have been made.

The Luray Police Department also said it has reached out to state and federal law enforcement agencies about the incident.

You wouldn’t have liked Dante, but Cangrande thought he was a delightful (permanent) dinner guest.

In some ways, I am very lucky that I grew up a pretty physically unassuming human being who got bullied a lot in elementary school. It mostly turned me into someone who can smile and have charming conversations with all sorts of assholes while I’m quietly plotting to drop them out a window. And several of the bullying assholes I knew from those days turned out to be pretty decent middle-aged facebookers. I mean, probably 98% of them are still dicks, based on those same facebook encounters, but occasionally people are redeemable.

“IBM said Friday it will sell the core data assets of its Watson Health division to a San Francisco-based private equity firm, marking the staggering collapse of its ambitious artificial intelligence effort that failed to live up to its promises to transform everything from drug discovery to cancer care. Data and analytics assets held by the health business, which was not profitable, were sold to Francisco Partners as IBM seeks to refocus its business on cloud computing and AI services to help clients in multiple industries build machine learning tools and secure and manage their data. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.”

She seems nice:

The woman who allegedly told three Jewish kids “Hitler should have killed you all” before spitting on an 8-year-old boy in Brooklyn has been arrested, cops announced Friday.

Christina Darling, 21, was arrested and charged Friday with aggravated harassment and menacing, both as hate crimes, and acting in a manner injurious to a child in connection to the Jan. 14 incident, NYPD Hate Crimes said.

Darling stormed up to the boy, who was with two other kids around 12:30 p.m. on Avenue P near Coleman Street in Marine Park, about five blocks from her home, police said.

She snarled at the kids, “Hitler should have killed you all. I’ll kill you and know where you live,” cops said.

Footage released by the NYPD Tuesday shows the woman standing directly in front of the kids as she spat on the boy.

A petition on change.org identified her as a St. Francis College student and called for her expulsion.

Top reasons not to like crypto:
1) It’s a damn energy hog adding to GHG emissions
2) It enables criminal activity and terrorism
3) It has most of the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme
4) Annoying crypto-bros who won’t shut up about it.

Reasons to like crypto

Well, two possibilities:

a) AI, while a useful construct, has been grossly oversold and needs far more time and effort to mature into useful transformational products; or

I am beginning to wonder if her hard life growing up story isn’t a bunch of shit. Her family supposedly lived in an abandoned gas station for awhile when she was a kid because her parents lost their home. You would think someone with such humble beginnings would have more compassion. She put herself through college and got more than one degree, so she’s not an uneducated idiot, but you’d think she would be more inclined to use her powers for good instead of evil having gone through that as a kid. Maybe getting those degrees makes her think she’s smarter than anyone else around her. I don’t know, but her whole vibe is dishonest and weird.

My take, as an engineer but not directly involved in AI, is that far more work is required for training and developing adequate reasoning and perception then is initially thought. You end up needing several levels of deduction to make sense of real-world data, and the complexity blows up exponentially quite fast. I think it will be useful and widespread, but will take a lot longer than the pitch boys say it will.

Draft of measure to seize voting machines and lie about the outcome.

Yeah, this was a conspiracy within Trumpworld - multiple people conspiring together to overthrow the election and interfere in the election outcome they disagreed with.

Everyone, from the author to those who approved of this even being a draft, should be prosecuted for their roles here. There’s no privilege applying to this criminal conduct. Executive privilege is not a shield against criminal conduct, despite what Trump thinks. The DOJ needs to kill that odious position paper once and for all.

re: #354 Dangerman

The draft EO was probably put together by Flynn and Powell, without a care for reality, facts, or logistics. They thought they could convince Trump to go along with it for the chaos inducing nightmare it would trigger - enabling Trump to remain in power past January 20 - also giving Trump more time to try and nullify the certifications that went against him.

The other piece in that Politico story - the response - was entirely political and ass-covering in the extreme because it doesn’t sound like anything Trump would ever do or say, even as part of a hostage video under duress. It reads like someone who had absolutely nothing to do with Trump’s comms team. It doesn’t sound like him at all. It has none of his stilted language or voice.

To me, it’s there simply to claim that those in the admin were recognizing the dangers of 1/6 and tried to mitigate it knowing full well Trump was the inciter and responsible for what happened.
