Colbert: Trump Could Be Charged With Criminal Conspiracy (But Will He?)

Politics • Views: 22,291

YouTube

Some folks are getting hopeful again that Trump may actually face justice for his many crimes. I’d love to be proven wrong but I still think he’s probably going to get away with everything, because our system is designed to keep people like him above the law, and it’s always worked very well for that purpose.

Maybe this time will be different, but history doesn’t give us much reason to be hopeful.

The January 6th committee says they have evidence that former president Donald T**** knew he was committing fraud against the government, and despite evidence to the contrary, Russia’s leader insists that his invasion of Ukraine is proceeding exactly as he planned. #Colbert #Comedy #Monologue

The Idaho Senate on Thursday passed a bill that seeks to deter most abortions by allowing family to sue providers after about six weeks of pregnancy — before many woman know they’re pregnant,” the Idaho Statesman reports

Just in case there’s any doubt that the Times craves this kind of coverage and rewards it. This is exactly what it want to see written, no matter how much they claim to be beholden to simply reporting the narrative.

At this point, I’m hoping that Biden finally realizes that Garland is the fucking coward that obviously everyone else is seeing, gets fired, and there’s someone below him that has been actually doing the legwork to throw Trump in prison. Biden then give that person the AG job.

In a perverse sort of way, McConnell might have been doing liberals a favor by stonewalling Garland’s SCOTUS review, because I’m getting the impression at this point Garland would have been the judicial version of Joe Manchin: fucking over people in order to prove to conservatives that he’s a “moderate”.

Usually it is the hard core ice-fishers

This dog definitely needs a warm bath.

Rescue workers in Michigan were able to pull a dog to safety after it became trapped on the Detroit River. The pet had gotten loose from its owner during a walk and ended up becoming stuck on a chunk of ice drifting on the river.

The Wyandotte Police Department posted about the rescue on its Facebook page, where it credited animal control and local firefighters for helping with the rescue. Footage of the rescue shows a worker standing on a ladder partially submerged in the freezing water.

He slowly uses a long tool called a catchpole to grab the freezing animal before pulling it to safety. As soon as the dog is within arm’s reach, workers on dry land immediately pulled it out of the water.

The post states, “(Wyandotte Police Department officers), animal control and (Wyandotte firefighters) teamed up for a pretty sweet rescue Monday afternoon. A labradoodle had gotten away from its owner while on a walk and
ended up jumping into the freezing cold Detroit River.”

I believe that Putin is aware of how badly things are going, but his generals are still painting a far rosier picture of how it’s going to end than the reality they’re actually facing. Being assured that they have plenty of reserves, plenty of supplies, and that once they reach the front they’ll finally be able to finish the push into Kyiv.

Oh, I’m sure he knows exactly what’s going on: and I’m also sure he has been working on a Plan B all the while. Maybe a costly one, but since when has that stopped any Russian ruler from carrying out a plan of conquest.

That is one way to use your prison pocket, smuggling in milk duds, line them right up!

Harvey Weinstein was reprimanded in prison after being caught with a contraband box of Milk Duds.

LA County jail guards found and confiscated the candy on Nov. 10, 2021, after the disgraced movie producer, 69, had a face-to-face meeting with one of his attorneys, Shawn Burkley, Variety reported Thursday.

Weinstein’s counsel was subsequently informed that their legal binders and laptop bags would have to be searched from then on.

The convicted sex offender claimed he was the one who brought the beloved movie theater snack with him when he was extradited from New York to Los Angeles last July, according to records viewed by Variety.

I’m going to leave this here:

DOJ investigations work from the bottom up when it comes to conspiracies. Oath Keepers are caught up in seditious conspiracy. We have a guilty plea on seditious conspiracy. That implicates Rhodes, who is the go between with Stone. Stone links to Trump directly, but also to others in the WH.

In much the same way we didn’t know what was going on with the Manhattan DA prosecutions until the DA seemingly pulled the plug on them and two of the prosecutors resigned over it, we don’t know what the DOJ is doing here.

I’d like to think that they’re building a case against Trump directly, but no way to know for sure. The political calendar isn’t being considered when they’re looking at prosecuting Trump, even though they need to keep it in mind. It just looks like Garland is running out the clock and letting Trump off just as prosecutors have done for decades.

Yeah, this is what’s keeping me up at nights. I unfortunately don’t think “If nukes will start flying soon”, it’s “When”.

I’m sure people will give me shit for this, but World War 3 started last week and that basically ends with an extinction event for most of humanity.

We’re counting on people around Putin to not be crazed lunatics like he is, willing to murder hundreds of thousands of people if he doesn’t get his way.

Not holding my breath on that one.

As others have noted, there isn’t enough time to do a mob style, bottom up investigation that takes 6 years or more.

If the GOP takes over next January, they will hamstring any DOJ investigation and have the ability to start impeachment proceedings against DOJ officials.

Also, the moment Trump declares his candidacy, he is effectively off limits.

On its website, the AFCLF, a conservative fundraising organization, has raised over $1.6 million for the People’s Convoy.

Pamela Milacek, executive director of the AFCLF, has active warrants out for her arrest for probation violations related to her pleading guilty in two cases involving fraud and exploitation of an elderly person, Matthew Hawkins, the criminal deputy district clerk for Collin County District Clerk’s Office, told FreightWaves on Friday.

“Just to note though, since she received deferred adjudication, she has not actually been convicted at this time,” Hawkins said.

In Texas, deferred adjudication is a special form of judge-ordered probation that permits a defendant to accept responsibility for a crime without an actual conviction being placed on his or her record.

Putin has also been pressuring his client states to provide their armies to support his Ukrainian effort.

It is kind of amusing to watch the client dictators try to avoid sending a major part of their power base, and what props them up, to get shot up and the survivors become embittered at the client dictator.

Belarus’ army has been traipsing around for what, a week? And apparently still not made it across the border.

Meanwhile, the Kazakh army is, in theory loading up to head west. Where it will take weeks to get into battle. Assuming that they do not figure out how to delay even longer.

It reminds me of the outsized impact the Sagger AT3 had on “the initial phases of the Yom Kippur War.[9] Later in the war, the Israelis adopted new tactics and learned to neutralize the Sagger threat by employing large concentrations of artillery fire to either distract or kill the Sagger operators.[9] Other improvised methods used by the Israelis to defeat the Saggers involved firing in front of the tank to create dust, moving back and forth and firing at the source of Sagger fire.[10] These Israeli tactics were later adopted by NATO forces to counter the threat posed by Warsaw Pact ATGMs.[10] In total, Saggers knocked out more than 800 Israeli tanks and other combat vehicles during the war.[11]” 9M14 Malyutka

The key difference seems to be that the Imperial Russian Army doesn’t appear to be able to come up with counter tactics as the Israeli Army was.

The Sagger was wire guided too. The gunner had to sit there and hold the crosshairs on the target from launch to hit. Throw the aim off and you were safe. We had very specific anti-Missile drills as a result. We called sitting outside of the turret hatch watching around us “Air Guard” but what we really would have needed to pay attention to was the puff of smoke from a missile launch.

I guess Americans never got the memo: Biden stopped the flow of money into Russia. It doesn’t matter if a tanker shows up with Russian petrol, the Russians are not getting paid for it.

And as I explained the other day, the US buys very little Russian petroleum. Most of our imports are products (i.e. stuff that comes from refineries). And how much of that is then re-exported I do not know, but US exports of petroleum products is almost as large as our imports.

“Presidents don’t generally see much, if any bounce, out of a State of the Union address. Since 1978, there had only been six times when a president saw an approval rating improve 4 points or more following State of the Union addresses, according to the pollsters. Three of those bounces were for former President Bill Clinton.”

Half the cast of Hogan’s Heroes, and all the major Nazis, were Jewish.
Robert Clary who played Cpl. LeBeau was a survivor of the Buchenwald concentration camp.
groovyhistory.com

Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink) was born in Cologne, Germany, and John Banner (Sgt. Schultz) and Leon Askin (General Burkhalter) were born in Austria; all were Jewish. Klemperer and his family fled Germany for the United States in 1935, as Adolf Hitler was rising to power, and Klemperer joined the U.S. Army when World War II broke out.

Banner had been held in a pre-war concentration camp, and when Hitler annexed Austria in 1938, he was working as an actor in Switzerland. He promptly emigrated to the U.S., and later joined the U.S. Air Force, even posing for a recruitment poster during his wartime service. Hogan’s Heroes cast members have stated that Banner lost family members, conceivably due to Nazi persecution, during the war.

Askin had fled Austria in 1940 and, like Banner, served in the U.S. Air Force during the war. His parents were killed at Treblinka, the extermination camp in occupied Poland that was the second-most deadly camp in the war, ranking behind only Auschwitz in the number of prisoners killed.

Howard Caine (Gestapo Major Hochstetter), who was also Jewish, was born in Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy during the war, fighting Japanese forces in the Pacific theater of operations.

As I mentioned yesterday, I am reading about what might be a possible Operational level defeat of the Russian pincer West of Kiev.

That is the area with the reported 40 mile back up. And the multiple stalled Russian paratroop attacks.

From what I am reading, the spearhead of the advance itself is stalled and may have been pushed back. Other reports seem to indicate that the spearhead had actually been broken up into multiple pockets.

Meanwhile reporting claims that Ukrainian light infantry and drones, with some Ukrainian Air Force support are picking off sections of vehicles trapped in the stalled traffic jam.

The traffic jam itself seems to be too concentrated to easily be turned around and moved back across the Belarus border.

The trade-off for this is that there do not appear to be many Ukrainian forces in the South along the Black Sea. So the Russians seem to have a lot of freedom of movement there.

As always, there is too little information to fully verify this.

I want Russia to keep exporting oil, and for the income from that to pay to rebuild all the damage in Ukraine. They have to be made to pay for what they’ve done. I just don’t know how we get that done when Vlad has nukes.

National Guard troops in the area are ready to respond at a moment’s notice to any sort of armed insurrection at the US Capitol. Also, should people be stupid enough to think a couple hundred of them pose any kind of threat, they won’t be allowed to just walk to the bus station after their party is over if they bring weapons. This time they will be surrounded, forced to disarm, handcuffed, and processed…however long that takes.

It was virtual, just like his address to the people of Georgia

Aw…sad trombone…

Today “Russia has no more Kalibr missiles left in strategic reserve,” said a Ukrainian defense enterprise director familiar with the program, “but that is not the end of their troubles. The guidance system, the seeker head and other critical modules [in the missile’s front end] contain about 60% imported electronic components. None of these will be available after the long list of sanctions being imposed on Russia now, so it is hard to see where any new missiles would ever come from.”

They’re also three months out from new small arms for their troops…assuming there aren’t supply chain issues…per the same article above.

“Weapons that are officially on the books and should be available for delivery to active-duty units are missing and the next production runs will be complete only in three to four months,” the officer said. Even that estimate assumes that the raw material inputs have not been pilfered as well and are still available — if not, the time frame could be considerably longer.

Missing? Where are the 10,000 rifles you had delivered? 10,000? Nyet…it was 1,000… Okay, where are the 1,000? Speak to my cousin…he handle delivery.

the only question is WTF is the State of Kentucky doing investing Teachers pension money in a Russian bank. In fact in anything that would not be considered ‘conservative’?

No it was not ‘safe’ a month or three ago. There were plenty of saner places to park the money.

Trump’s ‘Adults’ Only Blew Whistle After They Lost Power

Matt Lewis: “Barr and Bolton obviously have a lot in common—in addition to working for Trump, despite knowing he was a rotten president. …Both men invited criticism for waiting to tell their full stories in a book…..”

“What, if anything, do these similarities mean?”

“Are they desperate to remain politically relevant and somehow postpone their own mortality? Are they now, for similar existential reasons, trying to launder their legacies? And if so, what’s the deal with holding back until your book gets published?”
