The reason they keep doing this is because Americans are pants crapping stupid about football and demand they get milked for this money. The only time I can think of recently when the people finally said “No and go fuck yourself” was when San Diego told the Chargers to pound sand a few years ago after a insidious attempt to milk 2 billion dollars out of the city. It helped that everyone, fans or otherwise, absolutely loathed the owners of the team though.

The only NY team that actually plays in NY. That’s the part that stings the most for NYers upstate. And where would they actually move to? Who’s going to build them a stadium?

NY Taxpayers.

The owner is a fucking billionaire. If he can’t afford the new stadium, sell the fucking team. These private business enterprises get billions in handouts and enrich themselves all while taxpayers hold the bag. The existing stadium isn’t good enough because not enough luxury boxes. He wants more.

Do taxpayers get a cut of the concessions? Gate receipts?

I don’t think so.

We’re left holding the bag. Same as always.

NY has so many higher priority things to spend on than a stadium that sees only 9 home games a year.

The only way it’s going to continue to exist is online with ads. Way less revenue than what they were getting out of deals with cable and satellite providers I’m sure. I look forward to seeing a “For Lease” sign on the building if I’m ever down at the Costco near it.
