Zach Brock - Dirty Mindz (Official Music Video)
Buy/Stream: orcd.co
From ‘Dirty Mindz’ (GroundUP Music, June 2022)
Pre-Save/Pre-Order: orcd.co

Zach Brock - This song was mostly written on a portable MIDI keyboard and sequencer while flying across the country. I had been doing a lot of touring with Snarky Puppy that year and I was inspired to embrace sounds that I had avoided on my previous recordings. I was imagining new music that was louder, funkier, still subtly complex, but also unpretentious. Instead of tiptoeing the line between acoustic and electric as I often have in the past I was now prepared to go all-in with electric instruments and effects. I didn’t care if people knew that a particular sound was being made by a violin anymore. I had to change some things in my mind to allow myself to hear the music. It was time to get dirty.

Violin: Zach Brock

The fact that this fucker isn’t angry but smug. He’s convinced he and his ilk have won and rendered women their property. The scary thing, once again, is that the law may end up on his side and he fucking knows it. And it’s all a fucking game to him and his kind. He wins, they lose, all is right with the world, precisely because he has the privilege to see it as a game. Meanwhile people lose their actual freedom and he can laugh at it.

I know most of you aren’t stupid enough to tangle with anti-abortion fanatics, but I am that kind of stupid. If you do, remind them what can happen to women. I used the examples of Argentina during the 1970s Dirty War and the Bosnian war in the 1990s. Oh yeah, and Buck v. Bell, one of the worst Supreme Court cases ever.

Buck v. Bell, 274 U.S. 200 (1927), is a decision of the United States Supreme Court, written by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., in which the Court ruled that a state statute permitting compulsory sterilization of the unfit, including the intellectually disabled, “for the protection and health of the state” did not violate the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.[1] Despite the changing attitudes in the coming decades regarding sterilization, the Supreme Court has never expressly overturned Buck v. Bell.[2] It was widely believed to have been slightly weakened by Skinner v. Oklahoma 316 U.S. 535 (1942), which involved compulsory sterilization of male habitual criminals (and came to a contrary result).[3][4] The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 has also made guaranteed protections from the federal government to people with disabilities, including the intellectually disabled.

The case is often cited as one of the worst ever Supreme Court decisions.[5][6]

en.wikipedia.org

Buck v Bell has never been specifically overruled, but you’ll notice the Supreme Court drew the line at sterilizing *men*.

“…The prospect of a United States where abortion is unattainable is no longer an abstraction. Those who have long fought to outlaw the procedure often argue that the child whose life is ended by abortion might be the very person who could discover the cure for cancer — as if the government needs to control women’s bodies to protect the future of the human race.
That argument is wickedly hollow when it comes from lawmakers who are unwilling to invest in helping expectant mothers or providing a stronger safety net for the children they will be forced to bear.”

That’s the term Elon Musk used to insult to Vernon Unsworth, one of those involved in the Thai cave rescue that saved 12 boys and their soccer coach. Elon claims that it was a common insult in South Africa, when he was young, and was not meant to be taken literally, just like MF is never meant literally. I don’t know if Elon’s use of the term in 2018 has popularized it here.

Yes, I am well aware of Musk’s use. And I seriously doubt that led to it’s usage more regularly in the US these days. From watching UK based TV and such I always knew it was pretty common there

Schmidt actually threw the first punch by commenting on the news that her latest “tell-all” only sold 224 copies in the first few days post-publication. She responded by calling him a pedophile. Hence the 16 tweet barrage, which isn’t really telling anybody who paid attention anything new. She’s a spoiled, entitled princess who is an embarrassment to her family. Checked a quick review of the book and it’s pretty much the “I’m ready for my career in politics!” book you’d expect from the spawn of some famous politician who is beginning the process of positioning themselves for their first run at office. In this case, Meghan is preparing to sell herself to voters as the heir to daddy’s legacy as a “maverick” Republican.

One of the cultural issues that we have as Americans but don’t really talk about much is our obsession with the image of the “self-taught genius inventor” that supposedly made America the technological titan it is today. “That dull-witted, uneducated son of a family of paupers might be the next Thomas Edison!,” ignoring that Edison was the Elon Musk of his day: Exceptionally skilled as a bullshit artist, but mediocre as an inventor.

That is one possibility.

Another is that a lot of people became used to blabbing self serving stuff during the tfg administration. Remember how everything leaked like sieve back then?

I suspect that the Biden Administration knows how to restore some discipline back. And will work to mitigate the worst offensives.

If I were God of the internet, here’s what I would do regarding the online left.

1) All D vs. D backbiting etc. after a primary and before the next general election would disappear instantly upon being posted. If the backbiting is based on a Republican lie or a both-sides lie, the poster gets tased in the ass.

2) Policy based D vs D disputes outside the exclusion time specified above are fine, except that anyone who repeats a Republican lie or both-sides lie gets tased in the ass and the post is deleted.

Kharkiv is on the Russian right flank of the DonBas Offensive. It is well known that the Ukrainians have been advancing in that area for the last week. And that the Russians have been rapidly retreating.

While I suspect that the phrase Russian “General Collapse” may be optimistic, I can hope that it isn’t. Plus Kharkiv is relatively close to the Russian border, so the Russians do not have to retreat too far.

Back when I commuted to the office, I had an Audible account and I’d listen to books. Well, in the last two years, I have not been commuting to the office, so the credits have been building up. So tonight I’ve been going through books I might want to listen to. I decided that I need to put Japanese on hold for a while and really brush up on my Spanish for a number of reasons. So I was looking for interesting books to read to help with my Spanish comprehension.

Now this is NOT an interesting book I wanted to read, because there’s no good reason to listen to a book about Queen Isabella (unless she’s being trash talked). But I had to laugh, because the book is titled: “Una breve historia de Isabel la Católica”. Y pensé que esto libro no es breve, porque es nueve horas y cinco minutos en largo. (And I thought that this book isn’t short, because it is nine hours and five minutos long.) Todavía estoy buscando. (I am still looking.)

ETA: There are plenty of English books translated into Spanish. I want a book that was originally written in Spanish. And yes, there are many, but I’m picky.

ETA: There are plenty of English books translated into Spanish. I want a book that was originally written in Spanish. And yes, there are many, but I’m picky.

A couple suggestions:
>>Gabriel García Márquez “One Hundred Years of Solitude” = “Cien años de soledad”
>>Laura Esquivel “Like Water for Chocolate” = “Como agua para chocolate”
>>Isabel Allende “The House of the Spirits” = “La casa de los espíritus”

Considering that entire industries (agriculture, food processing, food service, gardening/landscaping, construction, hospitality and domestic services, etc.,) base their business models on an endless flow of cheap, easily exploited labor, this is to be expected.

Took a quick gander over at Schmidt’s timeline. He basically aired the entire ‘08 McCain campaign’s dirty laundry out. Not just Meghan but also Princess Dumbass of the Northwoods gets taken to task. And mentions how he ended up in a barely civil relationship with the Old Man until just before his death because of the havoc those two wrought on not just their friendship but also the campaign.

Reminds: Am I the only one to wonder if Madison Cawthorn’s honeypot wife discovered the now famous “cousin,” video and other kompromat that was used to blackmail him? Is this the reason for the ridiculous tongue baths he was giving Putin right up to the Ukraine invasion, “our Black Sea fleet,” Vietcong “handled” our forces with small arms, etc. I am not suggesting that the group that released the video got it from the GRU, but that they were not the first to have it.

This is A Thing over here on the other side of the pond. It’s not a “taco”, it’s a “tacos”, which is a kind of burrito with some north African flavored components to it. You order it like you would a burrito at Chipotle, piece by piece. It was invented in the Lyon suburbs. The New Yorker did an article on it here. They’re pretty good!

Oh yeah, a lot of Spanish people don’t really know what Mexican tacos are and don’t like spicy food at all.

I’m just wondering what the GRU has on Greenwald. We might well find out when (not if) Putin falls (preferably out of a 14th floor window). It depends on who steps up to remove him. If it comes from the oligarchy itself, they will protect their accomplices and allies in the west and try to carry on as usual. If it’s a radical, outsider coalition, they will know that Putin was as dependent on his western tools as the tools were on him, and will duly seek to destroy them.

Like I said above, everything about the release of this book and the flying monkeys who are now descending on Schmidt in retaliation for his talking aloud about how much of an entitled little shit she is indicates to me that there’s folks in her orbit thinking she has a possible future in politics and are trying to position her for a future run. Probably expected the book to sell at least a few thousand copies, so they could claim there is interest in her and her beliefs out there among voters. Lauren Boebert’s campaign caught possessing tens of thousands in illegal donations:

Less than two weeks before being elected to Congress, Boebert paid of nearly $20,000 in state tax liens on Shooters Grill, her financially challenged firearms-themed restaurant. She also claimed more than $22,000 in mileage reimbursements from her campaign. To receive that much money in gas reimbursements, Boebert would have had to have driven 38,712 miles — which is 13,811 miles more than the circumference of Earth.

Upcoming Election on May 24th to watch:

Texas Democratic House candidate Jessica Cisneros is demanding her party’s congressional leaders drop their support of her primary opponent, Rep. Henry Cuellar, over his opposition to abortion.

Her attack on Cuellar comes as a blockbuster leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that signaled that Roe v. Wade would be overturned is galvanizing Democrats to defend abortion rights and could shake up the midterm elections this year.

“As the Supreme Court prepares to overturn Roe v. Wade, I am calling on Democratic Party leadership to withdraw their support of Henry Cuellar who is the last anti-choice Democrat in the House,” Cisneros said in a statement Wednesday morning.

Cisneros, 28, added that “with the House majority on the line, he could very much be the deciding vote on the future of our reproductive rights and we cannot afford to take that risk.”

nbcnews.com

From November 2020:

Biden did win the Latino vote in those states. But in Texas, 41 percent to 47 percent of Hispanic voters backed Trump in several heavily Latino border counties in the Rio Grande Valley region, a Democratic stronghold. In Florida, Trump won 45 percent of the Latino vote, an 11-point improvement from his 2016 performance.

That’s the term Elon Musk used to insult to Vernon Unsworth, one of those involved in the Thai cave rescue that saved 12 boys and their soccer coach. I don’t know if Elon’s use of the term in 2018 has popularized it here.

Some sad news here at chèz rabbit. Two nights ago, there was a break-out from the hutch. Cadbury, my black rabbit escaped. We searched, but no luck. Her bonded-pair-sister, Bossie, passed into the Great Green Meadow that evening. We had them for 8+ years and I think they were about 1-1/2 years old when we got them, so they were at the end of their expected life, which I think was a pretty happy one.

I will miss Cadbury attacking my hand every time I fed them; both noticeably annoyed when I put the pellets in their bowl before the collards and carrots.

My mom was pretty good to me growing up, but since she and my dad separated in 2004, she has become an angry, narcissistic, emotionally abusive person that I have almost no relationship with anymore.

I honestly don’t think I’d even cry if I found out tomorrow that she passed away.

And it really sucks to feel that way about one’s own mother.

Also, for the curious: I have made many efforts to try and restore an amicable relationship with her but without success (largely due to her narcissism and tendency to attack me for things that are not my fault). She also routinely treats me brother and sister-in-law like shit too.

You love to see it….

The fact that it is being claimed that a few TOR missile systems have been destroyed points to some pretty damning questions.. these AA weapon systems were specifically designed for short to medium anti-air fighters and drones and were considered as no-joke deadly weapons that must be accounted for in combat situations.

The fact that a relatively cheap Turkish prop-driven drone can take out so many AA weapon systems begs several questions… are these simply unmanned at the time systems? Were the crews not trained? We’re they not functioning properly? Was their calibration somehow too high to account for such small targets? These questions apply not only to Russian systems but also to our own AA weapon platforms. How will they hold up to cheap, modern drone threats that can evidently take out weapons that cost 100x to 1000x as much?

And, why yes, the Supreme Court is a protest-free zone by law, but we can’t possibly have a buffer zone around clinics. FYI, various American right wing forums are cheering the Russian’s ability to rape and kill at will. They want the same ability here, and have been vocal about it for years on forums like 4Chan.

Just a reminder to Russia… these soldiers you sent to rape and kill at will will be coming home at some point. And they will bring all this entitlement back home. To be continued,

Yes, that may to be somewhat true.

But western armies better get fucking serious about working out whether this applies to us, too.

We’ve already seen how Russian use of really crappy drones enormously improved the usefulness of their artillery.

Are our tanks really resistant to top attack missiles?

If the opponent was China would we be able to cut off their access to the components for high tech weapons?

Do not under any circumstances mention that LP are all ‘ex’ republicans, therefore we should expect a large number of them to be pedophiles, because, republicans.

re: #171 Dr Lizardo

If we were squaring off against China, that’d be a big problem. Cutting off their access to high-tech components would be a difficult task, to say the least.

To some extent the boot would be on the other foot.

The accusation was more specific than that.

not sure to what extent it matters, but the sexual harassment accusations against John Weaver all involve adults; staffers and so on. It was a MeToo situation. And it didn’t happen at the Lincoln Project, it was from his previous job.

re: #160 Florida Panhandler

FYI, various American right wing forums are cheering the Russian’s ability to rape and kill at will. They want the same ability here, and have been vocal about it for years on forums like 4Chan.

Just a reminder to Russia… these soldiers you sent to rape and kill at will will be coming home at some point. And they will bring all this entitlement back home. To be continued,

I imagine being the spouse of a VDV soldier is like being the spouse of an American cop, only worse.

The difference, though, is that none of the LP members are accusing others of being pedophiles.

So, so, SO much pearl clutching right now.

And my response to his “don’t picket churches” crap:

Not meant to imply I agree with Ron’s take.

I agree with him that we should not protest at people’s private homes. Could be frustrating if it’s someone who works/trolls from home, but it’s a tactic that works against whoever tries it.

Protesting churches is absolutely fair game for the slimeballs running their politics through and from the church.

I don’t embargo protesting at churches/homes because it’s uncivil. It’s just unadvisable because it’s likely not to work.

Bill Kristol sez:

Please don’t protest at people’s homes

When people criminalize protesting outside their place of work where should you protest?
