50 migrants believed dead after they were found in a semitruck in San Antonio, official says, with others hospitalized

Fifty migrants are believed to have died after they and others were found in sweltering conditions in a semitruck in San Antonio, a federal law enforcement official said Tuesday, in a scene the mayor called a “horrific human tragedy.”

The death toll, which the city’s fire chief gave Monday as 46, includes migrants from Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Their discovery Monday comes as US federal authorities have launched an “unprecedented” operation to disrupt human smuggling networks amid an influx of migrants at the US-Mexico border.

Unreal. Definitely not a union operator.

A Vermont man was caught on camera wildly swinging an excavator at two state troopers who were trying to take his son into custody.

The troopers had gone to Wayne Tallman’s home in Hardwick earlier this month to arrest his 24-year-old son, Brandon Tallman, in relation to an assault and burglary case, police said.

As the troopers were trying to cuff the son, Tallman allegedly jumped behind the controls of the excavator and set it in motion.

Dashcam footage from June 12 showed the dad repeatedly swinging the excavator’s bucket towards the troopers as they wrestled with Brandon on the driveway.

The troopers could be seen trying to dodge the machinery as they pinned Brandon to the ground.

Trump issued the code red.

He had his lackeys at the DOJ and in Congress slow roll the response to maximize the chances that the insurrectionists would storm the Capitol and succeed in stopping the certification process. At that point, he’d then announce he was the winner and it’d be a fait accomplis.

This was a seditious conspiracy and everyone knows it. Jordan, Meadows, all of them were in on this, and were fine ending democracy because they’d be assured of prime seats of power.

Look, I’ll admit it: Deep down, I thought it was plausible that the violent attack on the Capitol really was just a plan by the extremist fuckboys that they just let happen because all their other avenues were exhausted. Hearing and seeing proof that they knew - STRAIGHT-UP FUCKING KNEW IN ADVANCE - that shit was going to get ugly, and they intentionally encouraged it, from the top all the way down… Honestly, I’m kinda shaken. Motherfuckers really did try to use violence to overthrow the lawfully elected government of the United States. In 20-fuckin’-20.

Amazing that as fucked up a country as we are these days, all these people STILL want to come here.

Let’s not forget that, that most of the world has so much of a lower income than America, Western Europe, and the developed parts of East Asia.

Income per capita (PPP), i.e. _adjusted_ for cost of living differences.

USA — 60,000$
Upper middle income countries (e.g China or Mexico) - 17,000$
Lower middle income countries (e.g. Guatemala or India) - 7,000$
Poor countries (e.g Congo) - 1,000$

If you look purely at exchange rate differences, the differences are far greater, and someone seeing the differences can be more tempted to travel here, not realizing the much higher cost of living in America.

America can sadly be _far_ shittier and still have lots of people want to come here. Mexico is _almost_ nearing the point where fewer people want to come here (and during downturns we will see people returning to Mexico), but most of the world still has a lower average income than Mexico.

What we’re hearing here is seditious conspiracy to topple the US government directly implicating Trump and Meadows.

They knew, and they encouraged it. They wanted the violence to occur because they thought they could invoke laws that would allow Trump to remain in power indefinitely.

They all knew Trump lost.

So, why hold the emergency hearing today? Lock the witness in. Coordination with the DOJ to make the evidence public and put pressure on others to come forward to cooperate? Compelling Garland to indict Trumpworld directly?

I hope it’s the latter. Because the evidence demands indictments and prosecutions for these crimes.

There’s a reason Fox is purposefully ignoring the hearings and trying to distract and deflect. They know this is devastating evidence implicating Trump personally and directly in the seditious conspiracy to topple the government. They know it directly implicates Trump in interfering in the certification of the election, itself a felony. They know that it was an attempt to interfere in the election certification (also a felony). These are all federal felonies, and they know that Trump should have been removed via impeachment.

Most importantly, we’re told Hutchinson’s firsthand account - her direct testimony and evidence - meaningfully informs the hearings the panel has planned for July. There have also been “sincere concerns” about Hutchinson’s physical security because of what she knows and has revealed to the committee, we’re told.

Due to these reasons, select committee members felt they had to hold the hearing today and couldn’t wait until the House returns from recess in mid-July. The hearing kicks off at 1 p.m.

Jan. 6 panel moved up hearing over fear that Meadows aide is in danger due to what she knows: report (Punchbowl News)

To sum:

This witness, who was a participant in the events, meetings, and conversations, stated that Trump knew that members of the insurrectionists were heavily armed, were intent on disrupting the proceedings at the Capitol, which includes the certification of the election results that found Biden won, and was fearless as to those armed individuals not being there to harm Trump; they were there to harm others - Trump’s political enemies.

This is a seditious conspiracy. And the DOJ has to act. All of the elements of the crimes are present and accounted for. The evidence is there to support the indictments. Not just for incitement, but for seditious conspiracy. Attempt to overthrow the government. Attempt to interfere in the election certification.

All of these are felonies.

That’s mob tactics 101.

Big problem for Trump is she is an insider with no motive to lie about this. I mean, she is 25, and she is going to have to watch her back for the rest of her life because MAGA terrorists will be gunning for her. Plus, there are other witnesses who can corroborate this stuff such as Secret Service Agents, and of course Meadows, who didn’t get a pardon.

Safa is a bit behind. Operations to liberate the United States from the threat of neo-confederate oligarchs and fascist theocrats have been underway for some time, with varying success. Efforts to win over the hearts and minds of hostile peasants, ie the Republican base, have failed because they have neither.

And Arnold probably deserved at least this. Previous to his betrayal he’d been an effective general for the Revolutionaries and had done particularly good service at the Battle of Saratoga where he had been wounded.

Trump deserves nothing. If it was not necessary to keep mention of him around as a cautionary tale it’d be nice to erase him entirely from human history.

For now. There’s serious societal impact if this gets any larger.

America as a middle class country, requires that property ownership be something in the reach of the vast majority of Americans. If due to increased prices, and corporates lockup the housing market (e.g, how Crown(?) Capital’s vulture purchases of foreclosed houses), there are more people locked in to renting forever, always paying off the owner of capital rather than paying toward’s their own ownership, and not being able to give capital to their descendants* Even if this was never the case in reality (redlining, etc), it has at least been an aspirational goal of society.

*And yes there are other concerns that impact this too, like @#$@#$ medical costs.

This would have to be done, but any wingnut judge would see this as tampering with the jury pool. Nothing is easy.

Don’t worry, they do very deep dives into the jury pools’ backgrounds in voir dire.

Investigate the backgrounds of everyone in the jury pool, especially their social media. Unless they are very sophisticated, they will have left traces of their political views somewhere.

re: #266 Dangerman

let’s relegate his legacy to the dustbin of history,
make him nameless and faceless like we’re starting to do with mass shooters

no no no

He needs to be as famous as Benedict Arnold, Quisling and Vichy.

I’d like Trump to end up being known only for his crimes, with all images and likenesses of him, physical or virtual, including all his personal brand shit, gone forever.

re: #326 The Pie Overlord!

Marjorie and Pissboy are peddling some weak-ass shit. Even if the Chevy Suburban version of the Beast has a partition, Donald Trump has control over it and can lower it at his discretion to strangle Secret Service agents whenever he wishes.

After all, what kind of threat is, “Take me to the Capitol at once, or I’ll raise my little partition and not strangle you?”

re: #232 Dr Lizardo

I love seeing those examples of early color photography; some of them look like they could’ve been taken last weekend.

and without making too much of the photo, you can tell stieglitz had a good eye for composition. the instinct for most people would be to say, look up please, so we see all your face, and instead he gets the perfect angleof an intellectual reading some document.
