I don’t think there is anything they can do. Nothing will get through Congress to codify access. Anything done via EO will be spun into the next coming of King George III. And if they keep speaking about it by the time November rolls around the Democrats will solely be the party of baby killers via 3rd trimester baby dismemberment. This will all be done through a conservative media that doesn’t care about truth and bullhorned by a mainstream media thirsting for as much “fairness” as they can swallow. And in the end, it’s not a long lasting winning argument for our side no matter what anybody says. Almost everything will be more important when it comes down to it.
They have to play a longer, political game. Every time I think the administration isn’t doing what I think they should I always remember that A) we don’t see everything and B) there are people much smarter and with much more information at hand than I am.

Timothy Brian Cole (July 1, 1960 - December 2, 1999) was an African American military veteran and a Texas Tech University student wrongfully convicted of raping a fellow student in 1985.
Cole attended two years of college followed by two years of service in the U.S. Army. After his Army service, he returned to college at Texas Tech in Lubbock. Cole died after serving 14 years in prison, but was posthumously pardoned.
Tim was not executed but he died of athsma in prison in 1999. He had been offered early release but refused it because it required an admission of guilt.

Very long thread about the ongoing pressure campaign on the Nebraska Medical Association (taking a stand that they want carve-outs for various things and claiming their members are all for that). The campaign consists of directly asking physicians if they actually support this position, since the NMA was essential in beating back the previous bill in February.
The tactic Sen. Megan Hunt is promoting is to remind physicians who are on the fence or might support it because maybe it might happen is from Prof. Timothy Snyder’s “On Tyranny” lesson one of twenty: Do Not Obey in Advance.
As of now there is no special legislative session nor bill. Republicans in the Unicameral are trying to line up lobbyists to go after doctors or hospitals to see if they would support such a bill, so the people’s response in the state is reminding who physicians work for.
Fascists (and conservatives) are always the minority, so they count on advance compliance to threats.

1) in the US version of our political democracy, we’ve never reached a point where there hasn’t been two relatively functional political parties. As the J6 commission continues to unfold, the GOP will cease to exist as a rational Democratric oplitical option… either they will win and there will be no need to have any political party, just those in charge and those not; or the converse will be true, the GOP will fall and cease to exist as a viable political power and something else will have to take its place in some form. Is he truly the kind of leader will embrace being the force of change to forever alter the US as if he was/is a cauterizing surgeon? 2) there is a very real danger in watching us turn into our enemies, by doing unto our opponents the very same methods that they wish to unleash on us… does it serve us to do so, do we lose ourselves in doing so, even if we feel that we are right to do it to attempt to save what we profess to honor?
3) there’s a helluva lotta time between now and November and just now, we’re seeing the States and the DOJ get off their ass and into the courts. Georgia is moving, will NY follow, Michigan? Nevada? Will the J6 make a criminal finding and will the DOJ act on it?
If these moves get made, do we see subpeonas of all involved? We’re still watching it unfold, some of the cowards are finally owning up to what they saw and heard and in some cases, looked the other way about.
