Hi. In today’s episode, we look back at the timeline of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022. Specifically, we look at the many lies police told in order to hide their own deep, pervasive incompetence.

The question is how much of it is actually forced. I mean, if I was migrant who crossed the border into Texas and someone offered me a free ride to NYC I would take it in a heartbeat.

My question is are they in the system or not?
Have they applied? Been processed? Waiting?

If they are truly just arrived over the border, then they are undoc/illegal, wtf is Fla and TX doing?

Amazing to think Biden thought there would be a Republican awakening after Trump. Glad he finally and belatedly understands that the majority of Republicans—both elected and voters—are irredeemable because, as noted above, their only core principle and policy is “owning the libs.”

The WSJ knows that’s impossible. However, nowhere in the Constitution does it say workers have to be paid. Or treated like humans. And this administration making those unreasonable demands of the job creators is pure socialism.

These mokes never talk with real people, just with fellow members of their bubble. Regular folks would slap them upside the head and ask them what the hell they were talking about.

I did not know this.

Benedict Cumberbatch is an example of an actor who’s been cast in different roles, with Cumberbatch playing them in the same movie. Naturally, Cumberbatch has played Doctor Strange since 2016, but he also voiced Doctor Strange’s Dormammu, the main villain of the film. Cumberbatch also provided the motion capture for Dormammu, and both were done at his request to help Dormammu come across as an evil reflection of Strange (via IGN).

Also, it’s using the letsencrypt for the HTTPS certificate, so I’ll save $60 a year. Instead of having a separate server for the DB, it’s going to be on the same box; it should be able to handle it because it’s the latest high-end Xeon hardware.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the $3 million paid by Donald Trump’s Super PAC to his new lawyer, Chris Kise, was because the former president “was known not to pay some bills.”

“Mr. Kise avoided at least the issue of nonpayments by securing $3 million in advance and, if the case drags, the leeway to bill for more.”

Wish I could switch to the nginx web server while I’m at it, but there’s a lot of code that depends on Apache, so that’ll have to wait until it’s functional.

Been using nginx on several other sites I’ve been working on lately, and it’s so much better than Apache on a whole lot of levels.

You can’t always get what you want, but at the very least, it should be a large step up from what you had. I agree with you on how nice nginx is, especially for a use case like this. It’d be super cool to see this place in a quiet little cloud-hosted Kubernetes cluster with nginx ingress, but that may be a faraway dream.

And I will start quoting dictionaries:

The traditional view is that less applies to matters of degree, value, or amount and modifies collective nouns, mass nouns, or nouns denoting an abstract whole while fewer applies to matters of number and modifies plural nouns. Less has been used to modify plural nouns since the days of King Alfred and the usage, though roundly decried, appears to be increasing. Less is more likely than fewer to modify plural nouns when distances, sums of money, and a few fixed phrases are involved

anyone who’s actually read any history knows, FOR A FACT, that the Nazi plan was to first consolidate their control over Europe (including the UK) and then come to the US. They had plans, they had personnel lined up, they had headquarters properties they were already preparing…

We fought them over there so we wouldn’t have to fight them over here. (it’s amazing how often I get to use that trope. even knowing that it only became a famous line when applied to the one instance that it actually wasn’t true at all.)

If you’ve ever shopped for a vehicle, you’ve seen a Monroney sticker before. This white decal must legally appear on the side window of all new cars for sale in the U.S. The law mandates that certain details about the car are included on the Monroney sticker. The Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958 established the requirement for this auto decal, which is named after the Oklahoma senator Almer “Mike” Stillwell Monroney who sponsored the bill.

Nobody gives a shit where they’re being taken. The idea that these people are LITERALLY BEING KIDNAPPED while just trying to make a better life for themselves is what’s upsetting us. But they don’t care.

And the stupidest part? They were migrants that entered TEXAS.

So Desantis wasted his states money to bus people who were not from Florida to somewhere that is not in Florida.

I.E. Florida doesn’t see ONE penny of economic or other benefit out of this.

There may be an additional illegality by Governor DeathSentence here, in that he appropriated funds that were to be used to move migrants “out of Florida” for this stunt.

Have you seen the one that has Johnny Depp playing a Native American, John Wayne playing Genghis Khan, and a couple of others I can’t remember?

119
Eclectic Cyborg  Sep 15, 2022 • 2:44:27pm

Okay, there were two different migrant drop offs:

- Abbott sent Migrants to Kamala Harris’ house in D.C

- DeSantis sent Venezuelan immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard

Apparently some signals got crossed somewhere and some sources were claiming the Martha’s Vineyard group was from Abbott, with help from Desantis.

Doesn’t make this practice any less fucked up, but at least what happened makes a little more sense than Desantis paying to ship Texas migrants to another state.

I know, I’m loving them all. We just watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s the other day and Mickey Rooney as Mr Yunioshi was super cringe. The icing on the cake was one other Japanese character as a guest at a party: an exotic sex pot in asian dress. No debonair Japanese men at all.

For the curious, here’s a list of Hollywood studios whitewashing Asian characters…
Annihilation 2017
Ghost in the Shell 2017
Absolutely Fabulous 2016
Dr. Strange 2016
The Martian (2015)
Aloha 2015
Star Trek Into Darkness 2014
Argo (Cleo Lijek) (2012)
Extraordinary Measures 2010
Last Airbender 2010
Dragonball Evolution 2009
Speed Racer (2008)
21 (2008)

It’s a lot more common than people think.

Well, that’s actually the well known habit of sticking in white protagonists where they have no business being (see, also, Matt Damon in THE GREAT WALL). Also common.

No, we’re not going to recoil in horror and disgust from people in trouble, we are going to help them. And they’re not going to get their lib-owning.

New International Version
49 “‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
