a performance artist, a meta-satirist in a nation that has long since become a bad parody of itself.
You know that a large chunk of QAnon and similar supporters are just doing it to gain attention and derive a perverse pleasure in getting people’s goats.

And AJ is one of the pre-eminent examples of that style of discourse: the shouting, soon-to-be-shooting match of US political debate.

Jones is just the latest example of an all-American con artist. He isn’t a psychopath and he’s not crazy. He’s a very successful con man, much like Donald Trump.

“I’m not used to being forced to recall what I said in the past.”

That would be less of a problem if you had cooperated with discovery, but if you had done that, then everybody would know just how big of a slimy conniving asshole you really are. Which is exactly the reason why you refused to participate in the process - you chose to lose the case and go into bankruptcy rather than admit anything.

It’s Shroedinger’s Crime Spree.

The summer 2020 OMG SO AWFUL WORST EVER THEY BURNED DOWN WHOLE CITIES. protesters are the worst, most destructive criminals in the history of the country, volume unequalled, in almost every single MAGA discussion of crime, but somehow selectively disallowed from “during Trump” stats they want to compare to “during Biden”. Also, January 6 was before the inaugural, but let’s not count that.

(alternatively, maybe they just rewrite the calendar. “During Biden” is now officially declared to have begun May 15, 2020)

43
Dopamine Fish  Sep 22, 2022 • 12:09:40pm

OK. To summarize the ruling in Lindell: “Lol, you dumbass, your case is barely even on the docket. Maybe, if you hadn’t jumped the gun, we’d at least talk about the merits of a temporary restraining order. As it is, the 11th Circuit just reaffirmed that ‘I’m going to get charged with a crime’ isn’t adequate harm to justify a TRO, so sit down, shut up, and wait for the government to get served.”

this is bad, but it will pass
(assuming they are all fake threats)
after a while they just arent any more fun

when i was in college in the 70’s someone would call in a bomb threat almost every day there was an exam. the lecture center had 6-10 large auditoriums so there was sure to almost always be a test somewhere

it was annoying.
the profs were fuming

they eventually got bored with it, or learned to study, or transferred
and nothing blew up

My brother was at UC Santa Barbara back in the day. The library got so many bomb threats they eventually just made a note of whatever the current threat was on the blackboard behind the circulation desk so students could make their own decisions about being there.

Although Zelensky became famous through the Russian KVN, personally for me 5 years ago or so he was first and foremost the presenter of the comedy show “Make the comedian laugh” (Rassmeshi komika) which I used to almost binge-watch on youtube. In this show (99% in Russian) ppl had to make Zelensky and his colleague laugh by telling jokes. Of course there were plenty of guests from Russia. I wonder how many of them will be drafted and will have to fight against the army of the supreme commander-in-chief Zelensky. Isn’t our reality funny?

We went through that at my high school in 1975. The first time, the teachers were delegated to open lockers. Nothing was found. The next time, the teachers were all AW HELL NAW and the school sent for a bomb dog from Houston (about 45 minutes away). It happened several times, including a call that came in before school hours and required us to stand in the unmowed grass south of the school for a couple of hours so the school could get its state money for the day. Then the calls stopped.

A few weeks or months later, I was walking through the quad, had just walked behind a wall (the other side had vending machines) and a pipe bomb went off. One student was injured. I could have been. So yanno, I am kind of suspicious of bomb threats that suddenly stop.

re: #23 Dopamine Fish

I’d like to know where they’re getting this “record crime” statistic from. There are actual numbers that record these things. Are those numbers actually up in any meaningful categories? Or is Gym just spouting off a talking point based on the dated “Dems want to defund the police” bulkshit?

The Daily Mail & the NYPost.

Black crime 24/7. It’s gross.

So yanno, I am kind of suspicious of bomb threats that suddenly stop.

fair point

My takeaway is that there IS a point at which Trump is so stupid, even his sycophants start backing away slowly. And we may just have reached it.

Maybe for some old-time politicians who serve on foreign policy committees — but for the rest — I don’t think so. Certainly not for the voters who are in his base.

If I’m Jones’s lawyer, once I get him out of earshot of the bench, I am giving him the tongue-lashing he should’ve had a long time ago.

I assume Jones pays his attorneys so he may have some that are semi-competent. But if they really were competent, they would have already directed him on how to behave and not let him get away with this behavior.

Worse than the usual trainwreck former child actor.
He was in two episodes of Supernatural, years apart, playing different characters.

A former Canadian kid star who acted in the hit television shows “Riverdale” and “Supernatural” has been sentenced to life in prison for the killing of his mother.

Ryan Grantham, 24, pleaded guilty in March to second-degree murder for the killing of Barbara Waite. He admitted to fatally shooting his 64-year-old mother on March 31, 2020, with a single gunshot to the back of the head while she played the piano.

The shooting took place in their home in Squamish, British Columbia, about 50 miles north of Vancouver.

Grantham won’t be eligible for parole for 14 years, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Wednesday.
