Regarding Nord Stream 1 and 2, looks like the CIA warned the German government this summer that they believed those pipelines would be attacked:

The US intelligence agency CIA warned Germany already in the summer that the Baltic Sea gas pipelines could be attacked, the German newspaper Spiegel reported.

According to the magazine, the German government received information from the CIA weeks ago that the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines could be attacked.

Original, in Finnish: iltalehti.fi

The Danish PM says the leaks on Nord Stream 1 and 2 were “deliberate actions”.

Because exposing your balls to IR wasn’t weird enough.

Sorry in advance if you’re eating breakfast, but the perineum (AKA the “gooch”) is the area between the pubic bone and the anal cavity. For some, sunning this area (also known as “perineum sunning”) for at least three minutes at a time apparently creates a surge in energy equivalent to “walking around in the sun all day”, “recharging” or “having a cup of coffee”. And with #perinuemsunning currently getting over 2.7 million views on TikTok, it’s not even particularly niche as a “wellness” trend.

But why? What exactly is going on? Why are so many people spreading their legs and allowing the sun to blast UV directly into their butts? It’s time to get to the bottom of the internet’s favourite new kick.

“It honestly feels really good to have the warmth of the sun shining down there,” explains Abushady, a TikTok user and regular gooch sunner based in New York. “It’s a feeling you can’t really describe unless you experience it. It’s like the sunlight fills your being from the bottom up.” Abushady tells me that his body and mind were exposed to the joys of perineum sunning while living in India and spending hours in the sun practicing yoga.

“When coming back home to stay in Pennsylvania, I would go out into the sun with my yoga mat completely naked and do my practices for two to three hours,” he continues. “Certain poses mean the entire body is exposed, such as a headstand or happy baby pose. I’m not really intentionally going out just to sun my anus - it’s more about being free.”

But what about sunburn? Surely this is asking for the ring of fire? “I don’t worry about sunburn, because I live a lifestyle and eat foods that protect my skin from the inside out,” he says.

“Some people might scoff at this, but a phrase that I like to say is: ‘the sun burns you for your sins’. The reason people get burnt is because, a) they simply don’t expose themselves to the sun often enough so haven’t built a tolerance and, b) they live such a toxic lifestyle that their blood is toxic and out of tune with nature, so it reacts with the sun creating a ‘burn’ I intentionally live and eat in such a way that I can be in the sun for hours without sunscreen and not get burned.”

Sounds legit, lol.

And again, the Eleanor Roosevelt quote—

“I have the feeling that we let our consciences realize too late the need of standing up against something that we knew was wrong. We have therefore had to avenge it, but we did nothing to prevent it. I hope that in the future, we are going to remember that there can be no compromise at any point with the things that we know are wrong.”

During the 1930s, the West had numerous chances to take decisive action against Hitler. They did not. Poor Western leadership allowed the Nazi menace to grow to monstrous proportions. This catastrophic failure in leadership offers important lessons for decision-makers today…

France and Britain had full authority to take economic or military action against Germany. Given the early stage of Germany’s military preparations, Western pressure could have easily neutralized the military threat. Failing to act when the stakes were low was the West’s first mistake.

The ass-MAGAts don’t have all the guns or any of the brains or guts. In particular, they are observably a lot dumber and more cowardly than their Italian and German predecessors. Hitler was the greatest asshole in history, but he did have a distinguished war record, as did Mussolini, Franco, and many other fascist leaders. Compare to Cheeto’s bone spurs.
As with other MAGAt characteristics, like lying and hypocrisy, cowardice also goes all the way to the bottom.

Economic sanctions wouldn’t have worked (Scandinavia and the Soviets had too much to sell) and both nations were militarily too weak. The real reason for Munich was to give the UK time to build up it’s military forces. It was just barely enough time.

I know you folks aren’t doctors and I am NOT asking for any diagnosis. I am only curious if any of you have experienced something like this before:

For about the past two hours, I have been experiencing a brief shooting pain that runs from my upper right leg to my lower right leg. It passes after about 10 seconds with seemingly no ill effects. I feel absolutely fine otherwise.

It seems to be happening every 20 or minutes or so since it started and no noticeable increase in severity.

My suspicion is a (hopefully temporary) nerve issue. I did do a fair bit of work around the house yesterday and could easily have tweaked something.

William L. Shirer, in his magisterial The Collapse of the Third Republic (1969) postulates a different inflection point for affecting the future course of WWII in Europe (three points, actually: Munich was the third). The second point, in Shirer’s analysis, was March 6-7, 1936: the feeble French (and British) reaction to Hitler’s “remilitarization” of the Rhineland - where he simply paraded troops in behind marching bands (with virtually no weapons). The Brits were content to merely sputter: the French were outraged, but their military establishment screwed the pooch: faced with an unexpected, and unprecedented situation, their only plan (delivered late) was basically a general mobilization for a massive war - which nobody wanted: and was, in any case, a bad response to a fait accompli.
Munich was a different situation: but few practical lessons had been learned in any case.

Unexpected? People actually thought Israel would recognize these transparently false, illegal annexations?

Unexpected in terms of severity - local media covering this is surprised by how strong the Foreign Ministry’s statements are today.

In a nutshell, Russia’s been playing a very long game in the region through its involvement within Israel’s hostile neighbors, and has been forcing Israel for years to play nice and bow to Moscow’s whims or suffer the consequences. Israel’s reluctance to openly object Russia’s actions since the start of the invasion was a direct result of that and additional factors. Not the case today.

If Russia has weakened so much that its decades-long threats such as providing advanced weapon systems to Assad in Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon (instead of “regular” systems Israel isn’t concerned about) no longer work, then it’s in a bad spot indeed.

Sounds related to the sciatic nerve. Don’t let me talk you out of seeing a professional. That’s still in order, with a referral to a physical therapist, maybe. These things are complicated and can be a long-term issue. Take care.

Probably 100% believes in the Bible myth that women automatically have an extra rib compared to men.

Easily disproven by any anatomy book, but persistent amongst Fundamentalists nonetheless. .. I too was taught this myth at an early age and bewildered in school Science books indicating otherwise.

In one part of Genesis, she’s from the rib of a man.
In another part of Genesis, she and man are both sculpted from mud.

It’s not a Bible myth.

re: #48 Eclectic Cyborg

[IANAD disclaimer]

Sounds like it could be a sciatic issue.
Second the recc to get it looked at ASAP.
If truly “temporary”, then a minor problem: but if not: then you’re in for Serious Pain.
And I know because it happened to me (thankfully only) once.

Tornadoes. Lots of tornadoes in South Florida right now. And tons of rain.

A bunch of people should enter using Dick Cheney as their name. That would be funny.

13 to 19 is a strange range.

13 to 17 are minors.

18 to 19 are adults.

Why are people mixing up these two groups?
