Update on Daniel Pipes’ Nomination
One of our readers received the following email from Senator Dianne Feinstein, in response to his message of support for President Bush’s nomination of Dr. Daniel Pipes to the United States Institute of Peace. Your representatives are listening, folks, but the Islamists are doing their best to drown us out.

Dear Mr. B…:
Thank you for writing to me regarding the nomination of Daniel Pipes to the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). I am glad I have the opportunity to respond to your interest in this issue.
As you may know, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) recently called on the White House to rescind the nomination, or for the Senate to reject it. Additionally, some members of the Muslim community at large have voiced their concern over Mr. Pipes’ nomination because of his commentary on international terrorism. As a result, this is likely to be a contentious nomination.
Although the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions must first vote on his nomination before it is sent to the full Senate, please be assured that I will keep your views in mind should this nomination come to the Senate floor.
I hope that you will continue to let me know of your views on the issues that are of importance to you. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841.
Best Regards.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
