FBI Doesn’t Want to Hurt Saudi Feelings
The FBI has scaled back the investigation team sent to Saudi Arabia from 12 to 6 people—because of concern that the Saudis would be sensitive to such a large US presence: FBI Scales Back Saudi Investigative Team.
WASHINGTON - The size of the FBI contingent headed to Saudi Arabia to investigate the deadly bombings was scaled back amid concern about Saudi sensitivity to a large U.S. law enforcement presence.
FBI Director Robert Mueller dispatched the “assessment team,” consisting of six agents and technicians led by a senior official in the counterterrorism division, on Tuesday. The CIA and State Department also have sent personnel.
Initial plans called for the FBI team to include up to 12 people.
I’m not angry about this. I’m furious. What the hell is wrong with the FBI? Why in the name of Western civilization are we kowtowing to these barbarians, even after they slaughter dozens of us?
Aaarrrrrgggghhh.
UPDATE: Ha’aretz reports that even this scaled down team is being delayed in Germany because the Saudis have not yet granted them permission to enter their stinking, rotten to the core “kingdom.” (Hat tip: Zogby Blog.)
An FBI team sent to investigate the suicide bombings on Western targets in Riyadh has been delayed in Germany as it awaits Saudi permission to enter the kingdom, leaving the U.S. still waiting to test the level of cooperation with Saudi authorities.
The team’s goal will be to evaluate the extent of the damage and to begin an initial investigation into the bombings in an attempt to determine who was behind them.
Sources in the American security establishment expressed fear that the delay of their arrival on the scene of the attacks will make efforts to secure witnesses more difficult.
