A gala celebration is planned; fun for the whole family!

The IHRC event, 'The Annual Islamophobia Awards', promises to be an unparalleled night of fun and entertainment! This fundraising banquet will be broadcasted internationally by Prime TV. It will take a satirical look at the year's events and present spoof awards to the biggest Islamophobes.

Musical performances include 'Mecca to Medina' and a traditional Tavashih group. There will also be an auction during the evening which will give guests an opportunity to acquire an array of arts, jewellery and goods, whilst also contributing to a worthy cause.

Press wishing to attend should call the Press Officer on the number below. The ceremony begins at 6.45pm and takes place at the Islamic Centre of England, 140 Maida Vale, London W9.

For further information please contact the Press Officer on ( 44) 20 8902 0888 or ( 44) 7958 522 196, email: info@ihrc.org.

I wonder if any Jews will be invited, even those who oppose "Zionism?"

Somehow, I doubt it.

Hat tipping, like cow tipping, is a fun sport - usually enjoyed by islamiphobes...

wait - that didnt make any sense, yet I still felt compelled to post it.

Travel restrictions are being lifted in half an hour by Ariel Sharon so that Palestinians can par-tay down, too. Some Islamophobe he is.

A Palestinian militant will start off the proceedings with a bang.

I can't believe LGF didn't get a mention, Charles! I'm heartbroken.

I fear for Britain, I really do. This is just one more ridiculous example of the madness that is being allowed to take place there.

I have to hear more about the Mossad invasion!

URGENT ALERT: Protest against British government relationship with Mossad
IHRC is deeply alarmed at the recent announcement that the Israeli secret service, Mossad, is to expand its operations against the Muslim community in London and wider Britain. Mossad claims that it will tail British citizens, tap phones and other communications (illegal under UK law) and attempt to recruit agents within the British Muslim community. This announcement serves as a reminder to the serious threats posed to the security of Muslim and non-Muslim communities, human rights and civil liberties.

It gets more interesting from there. The usual lies, ya know. Thanks for the link Charles.

10 say it like it is  Sat, May 31, 2003 11:36:18am

Hey I've just thought of a new awards system of our own.
If someone submits a useful published link they get a "hat tip" but if the link is mega groovy they get a "cow tip". We could have a sliding scale of "tips", including "Jungle and a Ragga tip (from Ravey Davey Gravy of Viz)" or a "felt tip (oo-er)" or if it's shit they can get a "rubbish tip"*. Wicked!!

* Only British people of ages 28-35 will understand the above.

Perhaps we could send all of those named LGF awards for speaking the truth and daring to stand up against tyranny, oppression, and hatred? A double cluster would do.

I wonder where the money raised in their auction will end up?

Having observed this weblog for a couple of days now (and already bored with it), it's apparant that the weblog author is not actually pro-anything. Sure, he supports Israel and all, but even that comes second to his monotonous hatred of Muslims. Only the most pathological minds focus so much of their energies, day after day, on compiling information on things they hate and do not wish to understand. Think about it. I can only feel pity for someone whose life circumstances have led them to this. I hope you recover, dude, and find some positive outlets for your energies. Take care...

bye bye

these threads are nonviolent reactions to the hatred, venom, and terrorist activities of (what a surprise!) those adherents to the religion of peace. a distrust and dislike is rational and proper given the mountains of evidence documented here and elsewhere. this is not to disparage individual muslims, but until the saner among them categorically speak out and clean house no apologies should be made for strong comments. and those who cross the line are usually reeled in one way or another.

A phobia is an unreasonable or irrational fear. There is nothing unreasonable or irrational about fearing Islam. After all its adherents acting in its name have killed how many people this month? And how many more would they have killed if they had the chance? If Islamophobia is the term for having serious concerns about the spread of the Religion Of Peace then I proudly wear the title Islamophobe.

27 Alf  Sat, May 31, 2003 12:51:57pm

Hey, I wasn't listed as a runner-up at the AIA.

Maybe it's because I haven't posted the following in three days:

So G.W. Bush frees about 40 million Muslims within a year and a half from the most repressive Islamic regime (Taliban) and the most oppressive secular Muslim regime (Saddam), and that makes him a Islamophobe? What the hell does an Islamophile do?

Hopefully the amusingly titled "Islamic Human Rights Commission" will have more categories and awards in the future to alert us to additional courageous writers and politicians. Oh, and websites. Gotta have some internet action.

human rights in Islam

"...the 54 Muslim countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference have conceived their own human-rights charter, contained in the 1990 Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam.

This document states in its preamble, and in articles 24 and 25, that all its provisions are in conformity with the sharia, the religious Islamic law, which has primacy. Moreover, it proclaims that God has made the Islamic community (umma) the best nation — and, hence, its role is to guide humanity. We can see here the differences between the Cairo Declaration and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which does not refer to any religion or to the superiority of any group over another, but stresses the absolute equality of all human beings."

40 Dar ul Harb  Sat, May 31, 2003 1:49:08pm

"Islamophobia". Cute.

Like "homophobia," a word which isn't meant to be taken literally.

It could mean something like "fear of submission to the will of Allah," which is not really fear, exactly --more like unwillingness.

But I guess crazydeathcultophobia is a little harsh.

So tell me again what we're supposed to be "shamed" about?

That's the first thing I noticed. Given green is the colour of Islam, one can't help but suspect it was deliberate. How about the depiction of the human form on the poster? Isn't that haram? Where's my amputation kit?

BTW are there any lawyers here? Given how harsh our libel laws are in Britain, would Melanie Phillips have a case to sue these oxy-morons?

If those of us are (quite rightly) deeply suspicious of the Islamists are now Islamophobes, what are they? Judeophobes? Since their overt hatred of Jews and those of us who support them is based entirely on irrational fear, wouldn't it be an accurate term?

Unfortunately it has a squishy, PC ring to it. Neo-Nazi Bigot will have to do.

#49 lewy14

Like I said, maybe I need a tinfoil hat. Then again, the crypto/neo/wannabe nazi crowd in europe is very into this kind of subtle code (they have to be as overt symbols are banned).

My first search for "islam" at yahoo took me to this site which said the following:

Many factors shall prove that these wars of lies are doomed to failure, but one of the most important factors in all of this is the American public, which has been marginalized and deceived for too long, coaxed into putting their total trust in the "greatest democracy on earth". The US administration is operating with the hope that no awakening will ever take place to disturb its malicious plans. Americans must prove the neoconservatives wrong, before the damage goes beyond peace and security, to include democracy itself

Islamciy or some site like that. What if I was a pro war pro freedom american that wanted to learn about islam. I would have to put up with islamic lying and hypocrisy.

We don't "hate" muslims. We just hate muslim lies (which they are permitted to do under the law of Islam)

Mohammed in Mecca and Mohammed in Medina

Historians agree that there is a big difference between Mohammed's personality in Mecca and his personality after his migration to Medina.

In Mecca Mohammed was weak, struggling to be accepted, often mocked at and ridiculed. He tried to appeal to the people of Mecca by being compassionate and loving. His teachings condemned violence, injustice, neglect of the poor. However, after he moved to Medina and his followers grew in strength and number, he became a relentless warrior, intent on spreading his religion by the sword.

This change in Mohammed's personality becomes apparent by comparing the Meccan and the Medinan surahs. The following are some examples:

In surah 73:10 God tells Mohammed to be patient with his opponents "Be patient with what they say, and part from them courteously." While in surah 2:191 God orders him to kill his opponents "Kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from wherever they drove you out..."

In surah 2:256 God tells Mohammed not to impose Islam by force "There is no compulsion in religion." While in verse 193 God tells him to kill whoever rejects Islam "Fight (kill) them until there is no persecution and the religion is God's."

In surah 29:46 God tells Mohammed to speak nicely to people of the Book (Christians and Jews) "Argue with people of the Book, other then evil doers, only by means of what are better! and say, we believe in what has been sent down to us and sent down to you. Our God is the same as your God, and we are surrendered to him." While in surah 9:29 God tells him to fight the people of the Book, "Fight those who do not believe in God and the last day...and fight People of the Book, who do not accept the religion of truth (Islam) until they pay tribute by hand, being inferior."

To justify this sudden change in the Quran's mood from peaceful to militant, conciliatory to confrontational, Mohammed claimed that it was God who told him so. It was God who abrogated the peaceful verses and replaced them by harsh ones.

However the truth of the matter, as Almaudoody puts it, is that Mohammed became strong enough to move from the stage of weakness to the stage of Jihad.

Today, in the West, we are witnessing the Islamic stage of weakness, but lets not be fooled, the stage of Jihad is coming sooner or later. This meek little lamb will turn out to be a ravening wolf, the sweet melodious "Baa Baa" will change to a thunderous roar.

The Facts
The following are some real teachings of Islam:

Men are superior to women (surah 2:228).

Women have half the rights of men: in court witness (surah 2:282) and in inheritance
(surah 4:11).

A man may punish his wife by beating her (surah 4:34).

A man may marry up to four wives at the same time (surah 4:3).

A wife is a sex object for her husband (surah 2:223).

Muslims must fight until their opponents submit to Islam (surah 9:29).

A Muslim must not take a Jew or a a Christian for a friend (surah 5:51).

A Muslim apostate must be killed (surah 9:12).

Stealing is punished by the amputation of the hands (surah 5:38).

Adultery is punished by public flogging (surah 24:2).

Resisting Islam is punished by death, crucifixion or the cutting off of the hands and feet
(surah 5:33).

Fate decides everyone's eternal destination (surah 17:13).

Every Muslim will pass through Hell (surah 19:71).

Heaven in Islam is the place where a Muslim will be reclining, eating meats and delicious fruits, drinking exquisite wines, and engaging in sex with virgins (surah 55:54- 56) &
(surah 52:17,19).

Ditto for #57, prior to a few years ago I always thought of Islam as a fascinating subject, similar to studying the Aborigines of Australia or the Yanamoto Indians in Venezuela. There is indeed no intrinsic hate nor irrational fear of Muslims here, just plenty of recent experience, and that leads me to conclude that it is us or them. They are a pre-enlightenment, pre-reformation religion with 9th century references bent on destroying the progress of the liberal west, rolling the clock back a millennium to a time wherein the Caliphate ruled the world, they should be given no benefit of the doubt, and no due process, they need only be enlightened, as if that were possible among these dummies, or destroyed, there is nothing else.

My nominees:

Most Islamophobe Politician of the Year - Saddam Hussein, for his three decades of atrocities against Sunni and Shi'i clerics, holy places and believers (Honourable mention for President Putin and his nasty little sideshow in Chechnya)

Islamophobe of the Decade - The Late Hafez al-Assad, for the slaughter of thousands in the 1982 Muslim Brotherhood uprising in Hama

Biggest Islamophobe - Sheikh Yassin of Hamas for leading the change in Islam from religion-in-need-of-reform to death cult.

How about some positive awards?

Most Islamophile Politician of the Year - President Bush, for sending troops to fight so that Iraqi Muslims can worship freely once again

Islamophile of the Decade - The State of Israel, for being the only country in the Middle East to continue to honour the civil rights of its large Muslim minority despite facing murderous attacks

Biggest Islamophile - The West, for doing the same as Israel despite 9/11

Oded:

I always used to say that if I were to run a contest for the greatest piece of horsesh*t ever written, the French saying "Comprendre tout, c'est pardonner tout" (to understand all is to forgive all) would be a top contender. There are some subjects that, the more I learned and understood about them, the more monstruous they became (such as the Third Reich, Stalin's reign, pseudoscience, and yes, Islamofascism --- which is not the same as Islam but is doing a sterling job of convincing the world otherwise).

Picture my surprise when the following sentence of Robert Heinlein pulled the words right out of my mouth: "The old saw about 'to understand all and to forgive all' is a lot of tripe. Some things, the more you understand them, the more you loathe them."

67 The Viking  Sun, Jun 1, 2003 12:20:27pm

Here's an e-mail that I sent to the Islamic so-called Human Rights Commission:

info@ihrc.org

I came to your website by coincidence, and I took enthusiastically to looking through the different material and press statements that you produce.

I was shocked to find that almost none of it touched on the crimes against human rights committed in Islamic dictatorships such as Saudiarabia, Iran, as well as in Arab tyrannies such as Syria, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Lebanon, Marocco etc.

Of course, I had no difficulty finding reports on supposed "crimes" in Israel, Turkey and occasionally Indonesia, or by the Western democracies as far as the War on Terrorism is concerned, but no human rights reports on any of the failed Arab states. Neither could I find any significant condemnations of the pre-War tyranny in Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

This does not do much to increase your credibility. And it makes me wonder whether most of your funding doesn't come from the Wahabi dictatorship itself, or from other undemocratic Gulf states exporting fanaticism and hatred.

But of course, you are happy as long as you think that the "human rights" defined by the Quran are fulfilled by those governments.

I find your "islamic" (as if Muslims had other rights than non-Muslims) so-called "Human Rights Commission" utterly pathetic. And I honestly deplore it.

It would be interesting to hear your comments on this.

I'd go, as a winner. Islam, with its built-in commands to conquer the globe, slaughter those who resist (and those who aren't suitable dhimmis, such as my atheist self), and rule the rest under shari'ah scares the hell out of me.

I want the rest of America, and the West, to "catch" my fear, because one noticable trait about humanity is that they tend to destroy what frightens them.

"Only the most pathological minds focus so much of their energies, day after day, on compiling information on things they hate and do not wish to understand. Think about it. I can only feel pity for someone whose life circumstances have led them to this. I hope you recover, dude, and find some positive outlets for your energies. Take care..."

um - am i considered pathological because I havnt left the office in 63 hours?

Or am I just doing my job...

I thank them for the tip, I will be sure to read some of Melanie Philips' writings now! I take it that the Daily Mail is a British paper.

# 57 Teacake:

Actually, I hate everything about islam. 3 years ago I didn't think one way or another.

My first rude awakening was the 1972 Munich Olympic games, with Chris Schenkel having to cover a war zone at the rooms of the Israeli athletes. Then came the Assatollah Khomeini and the US Embassy in 1979. Still think that was the beginning of the end; we should have done something more drastic as taking over someone else's embassy is an Act of War. Then the Marine Barracks bombing in Lebanon in 1983. Then various nefarious bombings/murders throughout the 1980's, including Mr. Klinghoffer and PanAm 103's Maid of the Sea. Then, in the 1990's things really started to get hot. Iraq and Kuwait, the first WTC Bombing in 1993, the Intifada, Sudan, Kenya (a few times), Saudi Arabia (now twice), Yemen, The WTC in 2001 (this time successful), Afghanistan, Pakistan and all the rest. With that historical track record, I am firmly in the "I Hate Islamists" camp. Let some Islamist schmuck prove me wrong without blowing me up. Arabs/Islamists lie, murder, then lie about the murder.

Islam: The Religion of Human Pieces.

#34. Uh, I guess it's kinda sweet that you saw an Amnesty Internationalesque flair to the symbol on the bottom right corner of that poster...

So, okay, yeah sure, I'm the pervert here, but for crying out loud! If that's not an errect male organ in bondage, then I need to visit somebody's shrink immediately.
