Independent’s Antisemitism Turns Up in India
You may recall that in January, Britain’s Independent newspaper published a shockingly antisemitic cartoon by Dave Brown, a pastiche of a Goya painting that showed Ariel Sharon eating a Palestinian child. The cartoon drew outrage from around the world—but the Independent was absolved of antisemitism and the British Press Complaints Commission refused to censure them for it.

Today a copy of this cartoon showed up on a sign carried in India by a radical Islamic, pro-Palestinian and pro-Communist group (notice the hammer-and-sickle flag) protesting Ariel Sharon’s visit to India. The “Forum Against War and Terrorism” (about whom there is very little info on the web—although I wouldn’t be surprised to discover they’re connected to International ANSWER) seems to know exactly what Dave Brown intended with his revolting piece of work, even if the British Press Complaints Commission turned a blind eye to it.
